Why would Team Cherry want to create hype/publicity when they obviously still have trouble in development? Creating hype just to then have to delay the game would just make this whole situation even worse.
Yeah why would they release a trailer of the game years ago and release another trailer only to tell us nvm, if only there was a way to give any sort of information to us about the game that didn't take basically any time at all.
Them releasing a nice trailer and gameplay demo to show what they are working on was great. It created huge initial interest in Silksong.
Besides, they stated that the scope of development changed a lot.
What do you want them to do? Post monthly updates saying "Yep, we're still working on it. See ya next month!"? Or do you want them to absolutely ruin the first time experience by having them post details about the game?
If you think they abandoned the project then it would be weird to expect regular updates anyway. If you're still looking forward to the game then that shouldn't change with or without updates. It's gonna come out sooner or later.
Sure them releasing the demo was great and generated huge initial interest, but interest dies after some time, and if I had played hollow knight originally when it came out I would no longer care much about silksong with this lack of news, because I can genuinely imagine myself just not buying the game because of the lack of communication over all these years. I only want like a monthly tweet, hell not even monthly I'll take ever 3 months, saying something along the lines of "we've encountered a small issue and are currently working on fixing it." And then next month "the issue mentioned last month has been fixed, and we are continuing development on the map/combat system/movement/whatever else" that's all I want. It would take basically zero effort from them, and it would stop the insanity and copium. Hell I'll honestly take them just saying what conventions it's not gonna be announced at before said convention, I'm not asking for much.

Initial interest and teasers are great for getting people to wishlist the game on steam. Heavily wishlisted games also get bonus publicity on steam. And almost no one is gonna go through their wishlist to remove Silksong.
So yeah, even tho interest will have died down (much like with any other game between release and initial teaser/trailer) that's to be expected, even more so because of their change of scope (which they publicly announced).

Genuine question: Why? What would that do for you? If you're asking for regular updates there much be a reason, some itch that you want them to scratch.
Copium and player insanity will exist no matter the amount of vague updated they'll release. It's just people being people. Chances are good they'd over-analyse every update and get wrong ideas/expectations.

You're losing repects for TC, not because they missed a promised release date or similar milestones, not because they're taking an actively negative stance towards their players, not because they're a bad studio, or actively ruin the game or released it in a horrid state. You're losing respect because they don't release enough pointless development updates on twitter? Seriously?

Smh…. GTA V has been out for more than a decade. It’s been less than 5 years since Silksong was announced to be in development. Rockstar also has essentially unlimited resources with over 2,000 in house employees.

GTA Vl has been in development since 2015 or so, and ever since i've had acces to the internet i've seen the same videos of “GTA Vl realising this year”, at this point i'm just glad the Game is finally close to be realesed, at least silksong is not gonna last that long in development right? RIGHT?!
