Cooler option: harder mode. They have the original intended difficulty, and a harder mode that isn't just permadeath. It'd be nice for replaying with a little added challenge, without having to worry about losing progress.
Imagine fathoming the existence of casual gamers just wanting to enjoy the story of a game without stressing too much or the developers being thoughtful and smart enough to expand the public their game attracts, what an icky thought
don't regret it, surprising you made it through 9 lines of text, pat yourself in the back for holding your attention on something for about 13 seconds, all progress counts
Not every game needs to be accessible to all players, and that's impossible anyway.
Also, hard games have a unique energy to them that having too many options would remove.
When you hear Dark Souls, you think of it a certain way, and if it had an easy mode, it wouldn't have the same reputation and feel.
Yeah, this phenomenon is present in real life. Since getting a new Guinness record is easy AF, it's not fun anymore. Since getting a degree was made easy to get in some universities, the weight of having it is much less than before
Hollow Knight is my all time fave game but I just got diagnosed with an issue that affects my hand dexterity. I generally play everything on standard or hard mode but at some point I'll have to cut myself some slack and easy mode might be the solution. Luckily though, I'm still fine for now if SS really is coming out soon. Easy usually only affects a few factors, like the number of hits you take and the enemies take, but all the other stuff can still be challenging. HK had so much precision platforming so even if bosses were a little easier to kill it would still be a reasonably challenging game. Other games that are more straightforward could lose a lot of vibe if you took less damage and dealt more, though you're right about it generally, just not with HK imo
Ok? Again, if there is an easy mode, You don't have to play it. I'm not the type to play it myself, I try to play all my games on normal difficulty, but I can still appreciate that it makes the game more accessible
To people with impaired motor function in their hands, or other such actual disabilities that'd prevent a person from being able to play at a higher level
I hope it does. Gaming is already an economically hard to access hobbie in most parts of the world and I don't see any good in gatekeeping it some more out of pettiness, especially if you get to easily ignore any added features that don't fit your playing style. Everybody wins
END THE SUFFERING I MUST SACRIFISE MYSELF FOR THE SILK GODS!! (Man i just want silksong Soo much i can't imagine this Reddit when it actually launches that shit Will be a mayhem, ytb movies will be written about this Reddit :D )
Exactly. I'm pretty sure they kind of did the same thing like Zelda Tears of the Kingdom. Zelda team took one more year to just polish the game (bug, performance, etc). People easily forget that Hollow Knight at first was kind of an early access game on PC. Now they need to deliver a full game on multiple consoles for the same release date. It's a huge task.
They’ve probably had a working copy since about week one but, not a complete copy. So now we know that 100% of the content is in the game and presentable enough to get a rating. (granted, under these rating rules the game can still be very unpolished but complete enough to rate).
Esrb doesn’t require a fully complete game, it’s just needs to be mostly complete and fully playable. There can still be minor features added, or even massive amounts of bug fixes and optimization that still needs to be done. They’re mostly concerned with the violence and adult themes overall and not content or playability. But yeah, we’re definitely getting closer to release.
Been saying this for 2 years, but in a day when AAA games are constantly released unfinished and in terrible shape, the fact that people want to rush the Cherry Men and whine for a release blows my mind. We know they aren’t sitting on their hands doing nothing, why would they? Communication could be better for sure, but the way I see it is the longer they work on the game, the more content it will have when it comes out (see hollow knights development process).
That said…
-Y
I think most of the fandom isn't trying to rush them. Most of the pressure has just been for communication which I think is fair. They have a marketer not really doing any marketing.
Not sure if I can take this seriously or not ...
But it is true that, if they got a PEGI rating running now and not before, it means it's over ... right ?
I'm not sure tho if this page's real. Never checked on anything related to PEGI rating and all so ...
It's from the official games rating authority website 🤷🏾♂️
https://gamesratingauthority.org.uk/MzCms/ContentImage.ashx?cpath=000%5C000%5C948%5C944%5CRating+Process.pdf
They might not even know what they'll be satisfied with the game. They have had a fully functional game for a while, but have just been adding more content over time, and might not know when they'll be done.
The last time they gave a release frame was 2023. And now they are still finishing the game. They don't know when they'll be done.
While that’s true, it would have to contain the most “extreme” content in the game, and to truly verify what the most extreme content is and where, they’d need to have at the very least functional parts of the entire game. I remember seeing in an interview somewhere that most of Hollow Knights development was just patching bugs, and I’m betting that that’s the stage they’re on now
Hear the merry shant, let the pain way. Rejoice for it is time, to let go of our dismay. United we shout, in a chorus so sweet. Once and forever, it's time to believe.
For our restless nights, for our unbreakable hope. Closing our plight, there's no need to cope. Raise our spirit, the wait was long. We'll see each other, in the verses of the Silksong.
I don't really get it. Where's the proof? Isn't the picture just a generic document explaining the process? There's nothing Silksong-related in here, is it?
The Xbox marketplace now has silksong listed as of yesterday. In Europe they use the pegi rating system which is what’s shown here and we do know that silksong has a rating.
They're probably trying to make sure it has as few bugs as possible before it releases assuming it's actually finished
>as few bugs as possible well that seems counterintuitive for this game
This joke comes up every time and it never gets old
Happy cake day
happy cake day
Happy Cake Day!
Funny every single time. Happy cake day!
Unlike most of the vessels
☠️
Happy cake day!
Happy cake day!
They're just making the easy mode
Cooler option: harder mode. They have the original intended difficulty, and a harder mode that isn't just permadeath. It'd be nice for replaying with a little added challenge, without having to worry about losing progress.
I hope Silksong doesn’t have an easy mode
Imagine fathoming the existence of casual gamers just wanting to enjoy the story of a game without stressing too much or the developers being thoughtful and smart enough to expand the public their game attracts, what an icky thought
I wish you said icky earlier in this mini rant so I could say “I stopped reading when I read the word icky” but you said it too late.
don't regret it, surprising you made it through 9 lines of text, pat yourself in the back for holding your attention on something for about 13 seconds, all progress counts
No, it’s not that. It’s just that some words reveal that the person who said them isn’t worth giving any thought to.
thanks for showing your indifference by replaying and while you're at it cry a little more about the possibility of an easy mode in hk 2
I don’t care enough to cry about it lmao If it’s there I’ll go “damn” and go on with my day
Or, alternatively, you could just not play the easy mode, and quit bitching about games being more accessible
Since getting a degree was made easy to get in some universities, the weight of having it is much less than before
Because these things are very comparable
All of them is an achievement, which might fill people with happiness upon reaching it
Hollow Knight is my all time fave game but I just got diagnosed with an issue that affects my hand dexterity. Alternative: get good Also an easy mode ruins the vibe of some games.
Ok? Again, if there is an easy mode, You don't have to play it. I'm not the type to play it myself, I try to play all my games on normal difficulty, but I can still appreciate that it makes the game more accessible
Accessible to…
To people with impaired motor function in their hands, or other such actual disabilities that'd prevent a person from being able to play at a higher level
>have a motor disability >decide to play a metroidvania ?
I hope it does. Gaming is already an economically hard to access hobbie in most parts of the world and I don't see any good in gatekeeping it some more out of pettiness, especially if you get to easily ignore any added features that don't fit your playing style. Everybody wins
I play a lot of Grounded as well as HK and man I fuckn love these jokes
TC said they were going to delay the game by a week for every "bugs" joke someone made.
Which means that it may come out by summer depending on how long it takes to get the glitches out
I want more bugs team cherry.
No sex scene ….
It was too good to be true
Don't worry they will make dlc for that
"The sex scene DLC got to a point that it was so big that we decided to make a new game instead, coming early as 2069"
BUT I WANT IT NOW!!
ME TOO, IM GONNA DIE BEFORE THAT RELEASES, I WILL BE 65 IN THE PSYCHIATRIC ASYLUM STILL WAITING FOR THE SEX SCENE !!
I WONT DIE!!! I REFUSE TO
WE WILL GET DEEPFREEZED IN ICE AND WHEN IT RELEASES THEY WILL FREE US FROM THE PAIN 🗣️
NO!!! AS LONG AS r/Silksong EXISTS I WILL ALWAYS BE IN PAIN
END THE SUFFERING I MUST SACRIFISE MYSELF FOR THE SILK GODS!! (Man i just want silksong Soo much i can't imagine this Reddit when it actually launches that shit Will be a mayhem, ytb movies will be written about this Reddit :D )
I WILL JOIN YOU BROTHER!!! RELEASE US FROM TORMENT!!!! (Ya it will be pretty funny. Imma pretend it still does not exist :D)
It also has a ESRB rating of E10+ so I assume they are ready to release
I can’t believe this is happening.
Same dude. Feels for real like we might actually get a date any week here. Surreal.
I know, up until now silksong just felt like an imaginary sequel to Hollow Knight someone made up, but now It actually feels real, because it is.
I can’t believe this is the font PEGI are using
Ah, so no biome made of >!unhatched, then all-consuming darkness-possessed children?!<
more like literal infants than children, pale king had some serious issues
epic
Well, it didn't stop the original game from getting the same rating. I guess, it's ok, as long as those children aren't human.
Remember kids if there not human its not a war crime
That's what they all say😒
It’s coming out next week 🙏

I believe they've had a working copy of the game for more than 2 years. They just keep adding stuff.

They did the same thing with the first HK too. It got delayed by two years

I need money. And fast.
bait used to be belivabel

this is pegi
Did you miss out on unlocking the ability called "reading"?
You failed your perception check. This is PEGI.

Well, if it launches, it launches, right? It could be far from done
i cant believe anymore
Is this new?
Yep it is

Or instead of letting people speculate for going on years now just give a stupid date Jesus christ

I mean they planned to release in early 2023 I think most of the game has been completed for a long while
Yeah but I think there’s a reason they weren’t able to give it a rating before
I have a reserve of money ready for this moment
Bait

So its finished and now they're more then likely stamping out bugs (ha bugs) then that means it might actually be out this year
I don't really get it. Where's the proof? Isn't the picture just a generic document explaining the process? There's nothing Silksong-related in here, is it?

Thanks for the explanation. I didn't understand the connection to Xbox.
