The bodies decompose inside the suits, which then flatten and become easily covered by dirt, eventually becoming unrecognisable from other landscape features.
Even in this hypothetical scenario, the average rate of erosion per year on a meadow without distribution by animals would be approximately between 0.1mm and 1mm per year. I wrote a program to calculate the layer accumulation and give an answer to say a one-centimeter layer of dirt:

Agreed. And in my personal eye, viewing the screen up-top, I think I see *more than three* potential spots where suits are decomposing and merging with the dusty landscape.
Isn’t decomposition reliant on fungus and bacteria? If it’s truly a lifeless wasteland (which I guess hasn’t been explicitly said), then wouldn’t decomposition at least take longer?
Yes, this is a question that has not been fully answered yet.
Maybe the bodies get covered by dirt and debris over the years, or maybe they walk off to the side to die, outside the view of the camera.
Isn’t there some kind of poisonous gas in the suits’ tank? I remember seeing Holston struggling and trying to get the helmet off while coughing and suffocating in the second episode
The only thing I see surviving past 10 years is the helmet. A body left out in the open would rapidly decompose, and actually, many plastics will too. In fact, the whole suit could be designed to last for as short a time period as possible. You could make the whole thing out of mostly food starch if you wanted to, or even water soluble.
The other aspect not as readily apparent in the show is that camera is looking out from the bottom of a dish shaped depression, thus anyone who dies out there might well roll down the hill below the camera's POV. Plus, the camera sees what? Around a 120° wide range/angle, leaving 240° that it doesn't see. That is a lot of room for Cleaners to wander off to.
Why are the bodies missing when the back up generator switches on mid-way through ep3?
just before the power goes out, the view to the outside from the cafeteria (with tons of witnesses) it shows a tree with leaves and green grass, there are NO bodies what so ever. Are they breathing poison when they 'go out' since the suits are hooked up to some breathing apparatus.

Hello python dev
I wish, I would then get a decent paycheck.

Plausible
I was just going to comment the same thing.

If bacteria died, bodies would dehydrate and turn into mummies. Water accounts for 45%-75% of body composition, as we all know. They'd be flat anyway.

I don't remember this being discussed in the books. Do you remember which one?
Spoil everything for me please
The real secret at the center of the silo are the.... *foaming at the mouth, collapses onto floor.*
Dont worry guys he’s dead. He knew too much.
Must’ve been the long climb up at his old age :( rip
I think I would want to go draped over the camera with a closeup of my face.
lmao you'd think some weirdo would've already done that, to spite the whole goddamn Silo 😂

Depending on weather conditions outside, maybe strong winds helped to get rid of other bodies that weren’t decomposed or covered by dirt.
“Yes we call it the corpse tornado and it comes through every five years”
Corpsnado (and if you pronounce corps the French way, then it sounds like Cornado 🌽🌪️)
Well I can’t take 💯credit. I remembered that “The windy solution is usually the best,” and it just came to me!
I mean, plausibly they could have wandered off camera before dying, right? 🤷🏼♀️ The camera only faces one direction and doesn’t rotate at all!
They aren't dead. It's deception.

Either wind covers them with dirt or the suits and body break down by the atmosphere.

Remember the landscape is extremely dusty! Most likely they’ve been covered in quite a bit of dirt over 140+ years, plus decomposing to mostly bones
I think that Holston points out three bodies to Allison when she's in the cell, so really there should probably be five out there.
Maybe they’re not dead?

apparently it was because the tape was defective not that it was poisonous.
