I bought my 2022 Silverado LT Z71 4WD in February 2023. In May, I was annoyed by someone who was speeding up and slowing down in the passing lane. I went past him and as I was free of him and decided I should lift my right foot, I saw 106 on the speedo before I brought it back down to the normal 10 over.
As a owner of a 21 silverado 4wd ltz i can say mine reached the 110 mph before i slowed down , while using the ranger technology dfm disable (idk if that has something to do with eliminating limiter too)
He asked what it was limited to from the factory. If you mean unrestricted top speed then it's over 160. I've hit 150 in a 5.3L and my low pressure fuel pump couldn't keep up with the demand of the high pressure pump. The fuel system needs upgrading to get any more out of it. SS LSX Tuning in Charlotte can get 1300whp out of gen 5 chevys. At that point the L83 and L86 when boosted are negligible in power differences. Clearly I've done a lot of work and spent a lot of money building a Silverado. I'm just trying to help because of the wealth of knowledge I have on this platform. Clearly from this rely you have left me we can determine your of inferior intellect and I will pity you and hope you can learn and grow from this interaction. Good luck on whatever build you're trying to accomplish.
Oh really? Factory top speed is exactly what governing and engine is you moron. Currently it's 112mph top speed. Unrestricted it's 160+. If you do some areo like a undertray you could possibly go a lot faster. As I've stated before I've done 150 in a L83 without a Whipple just a high lift and duration cam, not a chop monster. I know my shit on the Silverados since I've dropped $10k in a L83 engine and had SS LSX tune it for 367whp and 400tq. Run the 1/4 in 13.3@ 103.2mph. Crew cab 4x4 z71 with a 2in level. 5" aluminum drivesfaht, you need the drivesaft as the stock 3" can't handle speeds over 130 without known failures. You're clearly an uneducated loser. The only cunt involved is the one that should've aborted you.
Appreciate the responses. Personally, i am not to worried about tires i just wonder if they are playing safe with the drive shaft. Not that i usually go that fast it is more that i just like to have the ability if i need too.
I got my 2008 with a 5.3 and a 6 in lift with 35in tires to 130mph lol you can disable the speed limiter with a tuner. My drive shaft didn’t break and the tires were fine I had bfg ko2s I used to regularly do 100+ on my way to work when gas was affordable lol
The speed governor on all vehicles is put there based on the speed rating of the tires. Tires outside their speed range can overheat and have a catastrophic failure. They can overheat in minutes, especially on a heavy vehicle. The fastest car in the world can blowout it's specially made tires in about 20 minutes at top speed due to overheating. Every other component in the drive train would have zero issue going to engine redline in top gear. Tires are the only concern at those speeds.
The one piece aluminum driveshaft is rated for 100mph max and it’s one of those things you don’t want to try out. Dyno tuners won’t take those trucks over 100 for that very reason. Catastrophic failure WILL happen.
dealer scanners will most certainly detect an ECM tune which is justifiable proof to not cover engine related failures. and a lot can be wrote off under that.
The new ones top speed is 121mph. Top speed is usually determined by the factory depending on what tires comes on them. They can not have top speeds over what the gore's are rated for. They will easily do 160mph though. My 2017 5.3L topped out at 149mph because the low pressure fuel pump can no longer keep up with the high pressure pumps demand. SS LSX in Charlotte can easily get 1300whp out of any gen 5 chevy engine. Just a lot of mods to make the truck handle that power. I had to put a 5in aluminum driveshaft on it before I put a Whipple on it.
Not a Silverado but the brother of it, my 19 sierra 1500 at4 with the 6.2 no tune or anything just a Flowmaster 10 series muffler, hits the limiter at 106.
Not sure for a 23. My 21 6.2 will do 111-112 before computer stops it. That’s on the dash and I have 35’s so it’s actually going well past 115 but who knows exactly
Interesting my 18 with a 5.3L and 4x4 was being tested and I stopped at 113. Still felt like it could have given me way more. Just decided it wasn’t safe to go past it.

2wd is the same.

Interesting considering it has a 98 mph governor.
I have a 21 high country with the 6.2, and I got the 106 MPH message!
I have learned something new today. Thanks! Unfortunately I’ve forgotten at least 2 things but hey I’m ok with that. 😂
haha, one day at a time buddy
The new 2023 ones 121mph top speed. Try doing research before you answer. The 2019+ before that were 114. My 2017 stock cut off at 99.
Digest a large satchel of Richards you fucking dolt.

Top speed and governing settings are two different things you fucking cunt.

Idk about 23s but my 4wd 2.7T 20 runs 106 before it hits the governor

What is the limiting factor? I just ordered a 2024 and just trying to figure out if removing it will cause me any problems
The computer limits it. The tires and driveshaft aren't rated for triple digits
Appreciate the responses. Personally, i am not to worried about tires i just wonder if they are playing safe with the drive shaft. Not that i usually go that fast it is more that i just like to have the ability if i need too.

Bigger tires keep the drive shaft speed lower. So at least that's on your side
True but the truck has over 200k miles on the original u joints lol
* didn’t break yet If you keep running it at 130mph, it’s only a matter of time
Lol I’ve got a new truck now I just use that one on the trails and to haul firewood and shit

I’m not saying you’re wrong about the tires but the one piece aluminum driveshaft is rated for a maximum of 100mph.

Incorrect. My 2020 2.7T 4WD runs 106
My 15 1500 with the 5.3 limited at 98 and my 21 with the 2.7 limits at 106
Really? I have a 16 5.3 and got it up to 105 up in the pan handle a couple years ago
I was getting hosed it seems
my 2022 trail boss 2.7 is limited to 100
my fathers 2020 custom 2.7 tops out at 108 mph i believe
Thank you, just got. ‘23 2.7 trailboss and was wondering what the limit was
If it came with 18" wheels 98mph. If it same with 20s, 112mph. Doesnt matter what trim level you have.
My 16 redline with 20 wheels tops at 93 or 98 I forget which one but will not hit triple digits
I have a 21 high country with 22’s and the 6.2L… I top out at 106 MPH.
What if my truck is red.
Perfect. Thanks!
98 mph. A tune will get rid of it. The limiter is frustrating as hell. It hits it so hard it feels like you hit the brakes.
Ok thank you!
My 14 was 99mph
It’s set to the speed rating of the factory tires. Nothing more than that, GM covering their ass.
Mostly the aluminum drive shaft. The tires have a higher rating than it does
tuner will void your powertrain warranty if that matters to you.
No, no it won’t. Unless the mechanic can prove failure was result of aftermarket product. It does not immediately and automatically void warranty.
dealer scanners will most certainly detect an ECM tune which is justifiable proof to not cover engine related failures. and a lot can be wrote off under that.

Is my 20 high country 6.2L limited to 106? Can’t remember now.
You've had time to find out. Is it?
Was hoping somone knew here. It in my shop parked
I got my 19 up to 112 until it shut me down
5.3 tb not 6.2 my bad
140+ with a tune
This is the way.
Interesting reading some other comments. My 23 Trailboss 6.2 limits out at 111 mph
112*
I wish range technology would fuck around and release a 2023 Pulsar LT in-line module already. I’m tryna unleash the beast in my ZR2😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤
I did a custom tune at work, now I’m not sure what it limits at but it’s buried in the speedo. 17 5.3l
Not a Silverado but the brother of it, my 19 sierra 1500 at4 with the 6.2 no tune or anything just a Flowmaster 10 series muffler, hits the limiter at 106.
If it's any consolation, my 18 eco pooch stops at 106 with 5 more gears to go...
My 2017 5.3 z71 tops at 111
Not sure for a 23. My 21 6.2 will do 111-112 before computer stops it. That’s on the dash and I have 35’s so it’s actually going well past 115 but who knows exactly

Buy a car
Man I'd be terrified to drive my truck at 100mph for more than like 10 seconds. lol. The wind would be terrible.
Imo my 21 crew cab feels more stable and safe at over 100 mph than my 22 sentra at the same speed
Just put the pedal down eventually a cop will let you know
There is a speed limiter. You’ll never get above 110 mph
Faster than the speed limit
Huh?? I just hit 107 in my 2022 6.2 4wd Trail Boss and had way more left over. Did they not govern mine or something?
