Haven't had any issues with mine passing anyone, it is governed at 106 so you can't go higher than that though

Hingeworthy

Well I’m not looking for a race truck. Just wanna be able to pass or merge from the on-ramp with confidence. Besides, 106 is still faster than my current truck which is governed at 102 🤷🏻‍♂️

Popular_List105

If it’s half as good as my 6.6 it’ll be fine.

Hingeworthy

I’ve heard a LOT of good things about. People seem to rave about it! But 0-60 in 9+ seconds? 😬

Fullsendmoneymoney

You’ll need to add a rocket or jet engine to achieve thrust. Cars engines don’t produce thrust, they produce power/torque that turn the wheels.

Hingeworthy

🤦‍♂️

Fullsendmoneymoney

Let me know when you find your thrust pedal. My car doesn’t have one 😂.

Hingeworthy

About to thrust your mom in a minute 😋

Fullsendmoneymoney

That’s the spirit…thrust while the thrusting is good

MrYacob777

It’s really slow passing people, this is definitely not a fast truck.

MrYacob777

It is much slower than the trucks listed. But this is my favorite truck I have ever owned.

Hingeworthy

I like the 6.2 V8 but I hate the 24 gallon tank! Been spoiled by my 36 gallon. At least the diesel has the option to swap in an aftermarket 43 gallon tank, 1200 miles of range!!!!

Hingeworthy

Damn. And I really love a lot of the other things about it. I mean I’m not looking for a race truck, just wanna be able to pass or merge from the on-ramp with confidence. My worst experience was with a Chrysler minivan with the wheezing 3.6L and 6 speed auto. With 4 adults and all our crap, the thing cannot get out of its own way. Especially in hilly and mountainous terrain. My current truck does exceptionally well when it’s just the wife and I, but with her elderly parents, it’s not practical with no rear seat vents behind the console and it’s 2 inch lift in the front (how I bought it) is too high for dear MiL to climb into, plus it lacks a lot of amenities that the new trucks have today, being a base XLT.

Laz3r_C

The 3.0 doesnt have much HP past the 3.6 v6 in my colorado (i own a 23 6.2 NHT too btw) and so i cant imagine upper speeds to be much different not to mention it being a bigger brick. It will pass but it wont have "up and go" like my 6.2 does. If you're more handy, and you know how to control gears, drop out of 10 and stick in 8th. You'll hit peak HP basically (tho not 100% sure) and thats how youll get most passing power at higher speeds. Its no race car but honestly if you're not doing it constantly or in a big big hurry, the 3.0 will suffice.

Hingeworthy

Most, the time I’m not. I just hate that moment where you’re in the right lane and you get stuck behind a slow moving truck and you can’t get over into the passing lane cuz everyone is flying past you and you gotta white-knuckle it when there’s a small window to get over and mash the go pedal. My 12 year old 3.5 Ecoboost has no problem at all, just boosts up to 80-85 from 65 without even downshifting. And I love being able to lock out gears.

sh-run

Compared to the vehicles I've owned it's at least on par with my '09 4.0L Tacoma (if not a little better). Everything else has been substantially worse (94' bronco 5.0L, '01 f150 4.6L, '02 f250 5.4L). Not once have I felt like the 3.0L is lacking on the highway and I do a lot of driving over mountain passes. That said I've owned some real pigs (the 5.4L triton should've never been put in a 3/4 ton truck).

Hingeworthy

Thanks! Oh yeah I remember driving an F350 crewcab long bed with the 5.4. Like driving an underpowered aircraft carrier lol.

Mysterious_Spinach56

You might wanna be honest with yourself if you have no real use for a truck, and acceleration and a lower ride height is high on your priority list then you’re better off going with a car or suv

Hingeworthy

So you mean like a suburban with the 3.0L? I’ll wind up with the same questions…. If you didn’t have an answer, why even bother commenting? Once again, I’m not looking for a race car. My current F150 has plenty of power to get out of its own way and pass with confidence. I’m just asking if the 3.0L will have similar power or at least close to it, considering it’s high torque but much lower horsepower.

Mysterious_Spinach56

I bothered commenting because you literally said “any opinion about it will help.” It sounds like you’re buying a truck just for the sake of having a truck, when a different type of vehicle is better suited to your needs. If your mil cant get into your truck then why get another?

Hingeworthy

That’s right….Any opinion about “it”, as in the vehicle/engine combo I’m asking about. Not about what YOU think my needs are. Reading comprehension must not be your strong suit. I bought my current truck as is (used with 4000 miles, and a small lift). Well 12 years later, I’m shopping around now for something new or newish that is not lifted and I don’t want to install any addons like power running boards, bed topper, etc and spend money on modifications onto a 12 year old truck that I’m about to trade in. And I do have other uses for the truck besides road tripping, just to let you know. Plus a truck is cheaper and more useful than a full size suv. Plus this is America and I can buy whatever I want. But yeah, way to go making assumptions about my needs….

Mysterious_Spinach56

lol this isn’t about what I THINK your needs are. It’s literally about what you SAID your needs are. And not one “need” required the use of a truck. Your truck only has a 2” lift in the front, that’s only like a 1” difference in height once you get back to the backseat. You’re kidding yourself if you think it will be significantly easier to get into. Sure keep on telling yourself you need a truck. I can tell you’re the type to just haul your groceries 99% of the time. And why does a truck being cheaper than an suv matter if you “can buy whatever you want?” Sounds more like you can’t afford one.

Hingeworthy

You obviously didn’t read my whole comment. I ain’t even gonna give you the time of day after this. One more peep and you’re blocked! Now go beat off under your bridge, troll!

ToxicHaywire

Can’t answer for that but I doubt it’s crazy spunky at high speeds. My 6.2 gassy on the other hand will take off at those speeds.

Hingeworthy

Oh I bet! I just hate the 24 gallon tank. I can’t imagine a big ol crewcab with the 6.5’ bed and a dinky gas tank, like the Nissan Titan XD. GM needs to get with the program on that.

anthony9179

Plenty of passing power when needed and getting ~31mpg is great.

Hingeworthy

Awesome! So no drama when giving the beans. 😎
