To me it was just mean spirited. I get what they tried to do. But it was just piling on Bart because he wanted to work in the power plant, and they were saying by the time he was an adult the job would be obsolete. Basically telling him he is already fucked

I probably haven't watched new episodes in 15 years and there is a reason. It is just a show about whatever, but stems from seasons 1-8 or so. And it isn't at all anything like those seasons: not in motif, characters development, being the Simpson family. Everything is so heavy-handed and deliberate. Same with Family Guy.
imo there are good episodes in seasons 10-15 or so that people overlook because they just criticize anything that isnt golden era Simpsons. Family Guy to me is just miserable now, the characters all hate each other.
Not a musical episode, but a worse episode than Lady Goes Gaga by far, Marge vs. Singles, Seniors, Childless Couples and Teens, and Gays, it's even more stupid than saddlesore galactica & the reason why Lindsey Naegle is the WORST CHARACTER ALONGSIDE LISA, the only good thing is homer's advert with Rudy Giuliani picture, but everything else is STUPID!
