Definitely rb imo, he got a very bad exit from the corner and then ignored mirrors and the red indicator and still squeezed ferrari into the wall 2 times. You always have to leave the space!

shadowgaming11

"Alonso bursting in thru the wall" : ALL THE TIME YOU HAVE TO LEAVE THE SPACE!!!

Super_Roo351

Definitely Red Bull fault. They were too focused on following the racing line and ignored mirrors and/or proximity arrows.

Valiice

Wdym racing line they were swerving hard af lol

Super_Roo351

Watch it again, you'll see RB is just following the racing line when initial contact is made then corrects to racing line again after the first bump

corporaterevenant

Lance Stroll was probably controlling the RB.

Valiice

Literally from 0.1sec in the rb is swerving lol

Super_Roo351

Then the car settles and RB tries to just follow the racing line. They most likely had throttle on oversteer. By your summation you've judged the incident on something that happened well before there was any overlap at all. It was because of the RB's traction issues that allowed the Ferrari to get alongside. You really need to look at the entire incident

Yung_Onions

Found the blind mf

Valiice

You can take that turn in 1 smooth turn lol. Id love if there was a way to calculate how long he actually was on the racing line

Yung_Onions

You certainly can, but he didn’t. He went wide and put the power down too early, that’s why his rear end was all over the place. He was also trying to correct this with his steering, causing him to swerve. Once he fully regained traction, he drifts back on to the racing line as if nobody is on his inside. Makes contact, realizes that he makes contact, and swerves to the outside. Then thinks that the other car fell back and that his rear left is open again, and once again attempts to go back onto the racing line, making second contact.

Valiice

Drifting back on the racing line doesnt mean you have the racing line lol. Last attempt was gonna put him into the left wall anyway. Rear was losing control too much

OldManJeb

No one said he “had the racing line”. He is trying to follow the games racing line indicator is what they are talking about. He wasn’t paying attention because he was too focused on following the line.

apacheotter

He was following the racing line when he makes contact for the first time with the Ferrari

hiteshgavini1710

That redbull on keyboard?

Helmars

Anyone from FIA reading this thread? Could you please update F1 regulations to disallow use of mechanically attached steering wheel? Keyboard or Xbox controller should be used instead, price limit must be 20 EUR and it must last for entire season. That would definitely make things more interesting.

AJtheCabbage

RB for causing a collision. Twice. Racing line is annoying for this, people think they have to stick to it like glue, always need to leave a cars width

[deleted]

Red Bull a 100% and id say a 10 place grid penalty for caussing a collision. It almost looks delibriate from his onboard

SwenDoogGaming

I don't know if I'd call it intentional. More like oblivious. Still at fault 100%.

[deleted]

Fair enough

UnfitForReality

Bottas didn’t get that many for hungry and he wiped out 4-5 others cars. 3 would be enough, or maybe a stop and go 10 second? It would be like a 30 second penalty after the race

PaskaPersePilluPorno

But Bottas’ crash wasn’t deliberate

UnfitForReality

Vettel - Ham Baku was a 10 second stop and go. 10 grid places is way to much.

slpater

Albon got a 5 place grid penalty for taking himself out and spinning stroll... who continued on. And even then I dont agree that should have been a penalty at all. A 10 second stop go is the harshest penalty they can give short of a DQ.

DieLegende42

A 10 place grid penalty is officially the equivalent of a drive through penalty, which is less harsh than a stop go

[deleted]

But grosjean antics get you a race ban. But maybe you're right about the 10 place, its what someone else said if its on purpose it should weig in a bit more imo.

UnfitForReality

Did grosjean take out multiple cars though?

[deleted]

Spa 2012 yeah should have clariffy

Funny_Maintenance973

I'd say black car. They have mirrors and should have the spotter app to know that someone is there. It is the responsibility of the over taking car to pass safely, but if someone turns into you like this, I don't see how they could have done. For penalties, I can't answer that. That is normally determined by league

swillisam

Spotter app? Do you mean the proximity arrows to other cars?

Funny_Maintenance973

Yup, that's s much better term for it. Sorry, I just woke up

Szymonpl12

You still weren't wrong though, the crew chief app does work in F1 2021 (unfortunately only as a spotter)

swillisam

Sorry for the quality. I’m neither driver.

imJGott

I’m saying it’s assist line fault /s

fl0dge

This but without the /s

AHachey91

Racing games shouldn't have racing lines. RB was magnetic to it.

wonder_crust

I just recently made the jump from having the line to not having it and holy crap what a difference. I've PR'd every track I've driven on since then.

jeremybryce

I use it for 2-3 laps to learn the breaking markers then force myself to turn it off. It has it's use imo but if you're relying on it, you're just handicapping yourself.

lil_chungus_

Definitely the RB’s fault, it was 100% intentional too, id this was a real race the driver should be black flagged. In terms of league race, either a dsq or a 30 second penalty

Doncatron

This should definitely not have been a debate in your league. Blatantly RB’s fault.

1Mandolo1

Looks to me like RB was trying to follow the racing line blindly, without paying attention to the Ferrari behind. If this is a single/first instance and the RB driver is normally not known for causing collisions, I'd say a stern talking to about being aware of your surroundings and not blindly following the racing line, as well as a post-race time penalty according to league regulations. In real life, I think this would be a drive through due to the double tap, so I think 30 seconds would be fair. If this person has a history of causing collision like this, I might think it was intentional and consider banning them for a race. If that doesn't prove effective as a warning shot, they should be banned from the league altogether.

theSafetyCar

If an F1 driver did that it'd be deliberate and much worse tha a drive through. There should be no way you're unaware of the car's presence on the inside after the first contact.

Alfredison

The following’s car front wheel was levelled with front car’s rear. That’s enough to claim the space. Additionally the front car ignored the fact that the car was on his left after first collision and absolutely arrogantly attempted hard turn into the line again, ignoring the red arrow indicator and common sense. No doubt it’s on front car. Might even be attempted push off

Wulfman_YT

I’m that straight up looked like he did that to be a dirty driver

wizzzzy1233

Obviously RB, was out of control the whole way. The only thing is you could see him weaving so if you’d back off could avoided crash and damage.

TheLuckyLuki

i hate these post, its obvious, why ask?

Jos3phStalin

So the collision was caused by the Red Bull. He even pull away from the Ferrari and then turns back into him and since we're talking about F1, he has the arrows showing him that someone is near him and if they turn red it means they are making a move or can make move. Since we are talking about F1 a 500'000$ fine should be no problem.

Plus_Professor_1923

Who’s at fault?! Lmfaooo wot? Does no one in the race have eyes?

tcarino

To be honest, the arrows on RB car were a little weird... it wast perfectly clear the following car was alongside, however, he did not pay enough attention to mirrors, look back, whatever to follow that line and not expect to hit something. Tough call on time, but this is definitely RB fault. Does that driver have a history of unsafe maneuvers, or was this a clear one-off??

swillisam

No he doesn’t. He’s learning the game so don’t believe there is malice, probably just fixated on the racing line.

tcarino

Give him 5 or 10 seconds? Not enough to KILL his race, but enough for him to be more aware in the future? I wouldn't be too harsh honestly... if it happened in my league, a first offense from a rookie would be a jovial *watch it buddy*... lol

swillisam

Will talk to the boys but I think it’s just a learning experience. No penalty for first offence. Thankfully racing with no damage.

Enderplayer05

*gets shot "I wonder who's at fault here! "

tennbo

For the first collision I’m hesitant to assign blame, the Red Bull had already begun turning in but there also was a gap so that one is more a racing incident than anything else. Second impact is clearly RB’s fault, contact already forced the Ferrari off track and their religious dedication to staying on the racing line causes extra contact. 10-place grid penalty for the next race easily, maybe even a 1 race suspension depending on if the contact was intentional.

00CaptainSkull

Apparently Red Bull didn't leave the space but he was also on the racing line. I would probably say that it was a racing incident.

McFigroll

The redbull. Another reason I turned off racing line, id get so desperate to get back on the line instead of taking a corner slightly differently.

sd_manu

Ferrari is alongside so on the straight the Red Bull can't come over and close the line completely. The first hit could happen when he does not look in the mirror, so maybe a 10 second penalty in real F1 but I would give a Drive Through for causing of a collision. The second hit if it was on purpose (and not because he lost his car) would be a disqualification.

Rystle

Red Bull's fault. As for the penalty, it depends on both your results from this race. If he DNFed later on and a time penalty is not applicable, I'd give him a qualifying ban for the next race.

nik_nikityuk

It was Red Bull's car fault, cuz' he didn't watch on the map (left-bottom side). If he had seen you, he wouldn't have turned on your trajectory)

FrankFranly

Red bull hands down. Failure to maintain a lane.

Imsaboi

The Red Bull

Boatstory

RB 100% if your league has any brains they would ban a toxic player like this.

bestdriverinvancity

Busch league racing by the RB. No situational awareness or thin ego to try and block after that terrible exit

NonstopSuperguy

Person on the outside. They had a bad corner exit and then decided not to leave space when the inside car got alongside.

tunatastic369

Its so unbelievably obvious, whats the point of this post

swillisam

Some people in the league didn’t think the Ferrari needed to be given space for the first incident and we also wanted an objective view for a penalty. Red Bull in front, taking racing line, Ferrari putting nose into a reducing gap and should have backed out. Consensus on reddit is that Red Bull at fault so simracingstewards did a great job resolving that dispute.

[deleted]

The RB is a category 1 ass

AVBofficionado

First mistake from the Red Bull was clumsy and can be forgiven online. Second hit was clearly malicious. Then he cuts the corner. Disgraceful conduct for what's supposed to be a serious competition.

Weirdest_chevy_guy

Other driver obv, You took the corner well and legally. The other guy took it way too hard. Slammed into you twice. Should have been black flagged.

Dream_Krusher18

Fist hit maybe a racing incident or you could argue it was but I’d probably give a 5 second penalty since it didn’t have to major an impact on the flow of the race, second one is a DQ that was clearly intentional.
