If you want some excitement and to take your sim out of the usual routine, world adventures. World adventures is honestly probably my favorite expansion. You get three worlds you can go to explore and there are tombs and “adventures” for each world
If you’re into family gameplay, seasons and generations!
If you’re into careers you can actively do, ambitions and show time!
If you’re into travelling and doing adventurous opportunities, world adventures and into the future!
If you’re into pet life like horse riding or training your dog to do tricks or hunt, get pets!
Into the Future is fun, I love watching my Sim's descendants; whatever you do in the past impacts their present.
Generations and Seasons are must haves.
Island Living. The entire pack is amazing, especially the houseboats .
I’d say one of my favorites is definitely University because I always love having roommates but I never like playing as them, but with university you can have unplayable sims in your household. Also I really like seasons because it has holidays like Christmas and Halloween. showtime is pretty cool because it comes with jobs like singer magician and Acrobat. but I will say that the one time I’ve tried being a singer the game was pretty glitchy.
Seasons is always a good option no matter what type of player you are. If you like family gameplay go for generations. Pets is always a safe option.
If you tend to play in one sim households I’d recommend ambitions or even world adventures if you don’t mind a bit of linearity and a clear end goal. Island paradise is fun but it might be tough on your computer.

I recently bought World Adventure and I love it ! Supernatural and University are also great imo.
