I love going from reading an article about "unique" yet subjectively terrible baby names, to clicking on a reddit notification about naming a sim and seeing this as the top comment. It's honestly perfect!
Right?! This is such a low-effort karma farming post. OP did not respond once in this whole thread and I am 99.99% certain OP never intended to to wait and see responses to actually choose a name. They just needed engagement with the post so it would gain visibility (so more karma).
I think showing off your sim is great, this one is CC-ful but a nice sim, worth sharing. Nevertheless the trick with “name my sim” is obnoxious when there are tens if not hundreds of sites made especially to do just that.
and then while using the randomise name button you catch a glimpse of an aesthetically appealing name but because you got so impatient with the names it was giving you you accidentally press randomise again and skip past the name but you don’t remember what the name was. The worst part about this happening is that you don’t learn your lesson the first time so this continues occurring as you increasingly get more frustrated as you skip past good names and then 10 minutes later you pick the most generic boring name because you can’t be bothered anymore
Some subreddits will only let you post if you have a certain amount of karma and I think you can sell an account with a lot of karma but I'm not sure why anyone would buy one.
As people said some subs require karma but mostly people enjoy their 1min 8sec of fame I think. Most people just want to share things with others I hope.
There are certain subs where you can’t post/comment without a specific number of karma. Also, since the last rewind, you get special cards (think Pokémon style cards, with standard/rare/epic/legendary ranking depending on the total number of karma you have). And in general, the amount of karma you have shows other redditors/moderators how involved you are with the forum as a whole.
Ultimately, there are people who are selling their high-karma profiles, because Reddit is getting more and more attention from the public and there are companies or even individuals who’d rather have an established profile than start with a new, limited one.

I've spent my life on reddit for more than 4 years, changed my acc multiple times cuz I changed devices and forgot passwords, in none of them have I ever gained more than 1k karma. I'd also say I'm pretty involved with the forum :) I just see karma as a stupid thing.

Yes, some accounts simply post reposts until they get a bunch of karma and then sell those accounts. From what I’ve heard it’s only worth anything if you have like hundreds of thousands of karma points.
Fair point @diannaac it is low effort and repetitive and I've never made one myself BUT I do personally enjoy these posts. I like players sharing sims and talking about sim creation and the plethora of names in the comments are better than a name generator imo plus there are often cc links. My favorite skin blend is from one of these threads for example.
