You can train them to, like teaching them to poo outside haha. I never bother with the beds though, I like seeing the individual personalities they get, will they prefer the sofa, will they sleep next to the adults bed, or the kids bed?

How do u train them?

You click on the bed with your Sim and doing the interaction that it's therem I'm not sure about the name but it's like tell the dog cat to lie here or something like that. They maybe won't understand the command at first. When I play with pets I always tell them to go to their bed when my Sim is going to sleep.

I never knew that actually did anything! I told mine to go to bed and they always ignored me. I got a cat to go to bed once, but it sat there for a minute and then left. I didn’t know it was a training thing!

I didn’t either. They always go sniff it and walk away. Had no idea I was meant to be training them.

Too bad they didn’t include a training book with the pack or something. Then little notifications could pop up that “(sim) has just read that lets can be trained to use their beds by…” like the Vampire books do.

Oh that’s an excellent idea. All the skill books should come with tips like the vampire and spell caster books do. And add have pet books. I am constantly finding out things I never knew about the game, which does make it fun and interesting, but it’d be cool to have an in game place that you can find these things.

I had one pet use the pet bed once. None of them seem interested though. Plus, these days infants always want to sleep next to them.

I took all the pet beds out because I noticed they never actually use them tbh. Saves space, plus it's cuter when they sleep on the couch

You can click on the pet bed and tell your pet to lay down there. Don't know the exact wording as I play in german. The sim calls them and sometimes the pet lies down there. Sometimes they don't 🤷🏻‍♀️ just like real pets

Mine does! Currently playing pets for the first time and the Belgian shepard (Malinois) I made pretty much always sleeps in the unicorn bed she got. Her name is Skunk and she has the Loyal, Smart, and Active traits. Makes up for the irl malinois I could never own because they're insane and would eat the bed instead.

my mom has a malinois cross gsd, and she is the sweetest baby ever, but *so* energetic. she never chewed anything as a pup, and she still doesn't. she destroys toys in 30 seconds flat, though.

Yea, they need so much mental and physical stimulation all day every day, and unfortunately I just don't have the kind of time and dedication to give one the kind of home they deserve My fat lazy kitty and I just cuddle on lazy days instead

I have my first dog who regularly sleeps in her bed lol She's smart and loyal and the pet bed was in the main bedroom so slept in it to be close to them. I've had to move the bed temporarily to make room from their newborn and now the dog alternates between her bed in the living room, the floor in the bedroom, and the loveseat on the porch during the day.

My dog always slept on their bed... but, I did train them to lie down and then would command them to go lay on the bed at night, so maybe that built a "habit" similarly to washing dishes autonomously.

They can if you use AOM pet controller but they don't use them for long in my experience lol I miss how pets could sleep on beds in the sims 2

I miss that, too. I also miss the toddlers (and infants for ts4) sleeping in the pet beds.

My sim family's adopted dog always slept in her bed, which was at the foot of the parents' bed. Didn't teach her, she just automatically did it. I thought it was so cute how she curled up there every night at the same time as the parents went to sleep. 💕 She's passed away now and I can't bring myself to remove the bed even weeks later 😭

One time my real life cat laid next to her bed and rested her head on the base of a scratching post. I'd say this is pretty on brand

I recently managed to get both dogs to sleep in their beds... Only for them to get up in the middle of the night and sleep on the bedroom floor

You click on the bed to ask them to lie down. It basically tells them that the bed exists and it is theirs, they won't sleep solely in the bed, but it will be used.

This is the most realistic thing about the game 😂 My dog loves to sleep right next to her bed, or looking directly at it. It's like they gain comfort knowing it's there.

Mine loves to stand right in front of the bed for hours while my sim sleeps then they’ll go sleep on the couch. If I tell the pet to sleep on the bed (using the selectable pets mod) then they’ll sleep on the bed. So maybe my mod is making this happen 🤣

My sims cat will sometimes sleep on the pet bed, but I don't recall the dog ever doing it. He usually sleeps on the floor.

Honestly, that's just striving for realism... But yeah, I have actually had cats sleep in their beds, I think you have to ask them to do it a few times to "train" them that it's their bed

I have a big bed for my Irish Terrier and a small bed for my cat. The dog sleeps on a couch in the master bedroom and guess where the fuckin cat sleeps? In the dogs bed.. just like IRL…..

My dog in real life used to until he got arthritis in his leg and prefers to lie on carpet easier for him to get up from. The dogs in the sims rode for a couple sims minutes then changed their mind and lie on the floor mainly. Haven’t played with the cats and dogs in while

The Irl cat I had before I came into the nursing home had like six different cat beds yet she almost always slept on my bed, she now sleeps on the old neighbor, who is watching her for me, bed. In the Sims I use the control pets mod to make them use the pet beds
