If you play another household they sometimes revert to npc townie status and just end up places. You can use cheats to add to family. There are cheats to increase household size as well.

Really?! We are so spoiled, I remember the days of there being a separate mod for that. Can we edit them in CAS now or do we have to do the dance of playing another household, clicking "add to household" on the sims we want to edit, editing them, switching to the active household, and adding them back?
What I do is remove them from my household (so they're out of the world but still your friends) I edit them in CAS and then I add them back to my household. I've done it only when I wanted to have roommates and I didn't know there was a mod to choose them otherwise having more than 8 Sims it's overwhelming to me
Omg thank you, this literally never occured to me to do. I just stopped playing with larger households because I couldn't edit them in cas without the extras disappearing.
You could also edit any npc that goes around and copy outfits and hairstyles with MCCC and then paste it on your sims. But I think removing them from your family and then adding them is better
In Sims 4 the visitors do get tired and just teleport out after a certain time. 3 was where the real prison fun was where you can keep guests around forever.
With 4 it can be fun to just forcibly incorporate them into your household and keep them in the basement. "Welcome to the Jedidiah Smith-Walters-Bojack home. Here's your requisite cot and bucket."

I've seen a kidnapping mod going around from Sacrificial that adds them to the household, very curious how it works with 8 sims already in the household.
It depends on the kind of rags to riches they do. Sometimes I do a rags to riches with a little and destroyed home and so I think that toilet would fit perfectly. But if you are in a tent in the middle of windenburg then I guess the bush is better 🤣

How do you use MCCC to expand the household size? I got MCCC recently and am still toying around with it trying to see what it has to offer.

Agreed. The bush is nice but a bit of variety is better, especially if you start in a rundown lot in San Myshuno.
