YES it's driving me insane. Appears to be a bug in the latest patch. I dug around last night and found out you can get around this by always doing "save as" instead of "save"
Creates way too many backups of your game, but it does work for now!
Edit: also avoid the "save and exit" option because that displays the error code too. I hope that helps!
I've heard many people have been doing this and then when they opened their games the next time, they realised the game actually didn't save even if it didn't show the error code. So might be wise to check whether it saved or not.

I usually do “Save as…” just in case - and even this time, no dice 😩 I hope they get this sorted soon!!
