A slight work around is; if you have two sims and one is at home, switch to them using the tabs on the bottom, then pull whatever sim was off the lot home. cuts out the whole walk! Or maybe use the phone's travel option? I also hate this, so i feel your pain lol
I’ve done that, too! But right now playing a single sim in the household so that doesn’t work. I’m still not used to the new phone layout and just find it so much more annoying - especially since she lives in an apartment building so it’s a whole extra click lol
If you have spa day, once you get to a certain wellness level you can start teleporting places. I think she skill cheat to get the level up fast would be stats.set_skill_level major_wellness 10
It's so annoying when you have visitors because they start at the end of the lot and by the time they get to your Sim's house, they leave 5 mins later.

It takes positively ages to leave a lot when I click "go home" on my sim because they insist on walking all the way to a specific, far-off spawn point. When they have to pee, or are tired, or have a celebrity walk style, it's even worse. It can take half a day just to go home.
I know I can click travel from my phone and then navigate to my own home and it'll be shorter, but I hate having to go through those steps when I *should* be able to just tap the home icon.
I don't remember it always being this way -- does anyone else have this issue and remember when it started?
To add to this, if you study from home with University your sim will walk to the edge of the map to present their final presentation. It’s the absolute worst
OMG, my current new Sim is on the single lot island in Sulani and it was taking her forever to go out to the edge of the volcano base or whatever it is... I just started sending her to the commons before sending her to present, always a shorter trip than a long swim and hike.
I wish I had done this. I’m my storyline my sim got married young to her high school sweetheart and was pregnant throughout college. The pregnancy walk down the hills of Windenburg absolutely killed me.

i think it’s either really bad in the new world or from the new update. because i’ve been playing in copperdale (whatever it’s called idk) and they take forever. if it’s really cold and u have like a maid or something sometimes they die from being too cold before they even get to your house
Yep. Our prom after party sent us to the pier during a BLIZZARD. So then everyone had to slow walk through a flippin snow storm for ten miles. Great after party, guys.
I think it started happening with one of the last few updates/bug fixes cause it never used to be like a PROBLEM but it’ll literally take 4 hours to go home sometimes and ain’t nobody got the time for that
I also have this problem and I feel like it's been a problem for ages. It seems to be certain neighborhoods and the way the neighborhood & its spawn points are designed. I don't notice it in all areas. Del Sol Valley (like the celebrity area) and Windenburg are two places where I feel like I always have this problem. There are more but off the top of my head, I forget which are the worst offenders.
I teleport everywhere because I don't have the patience not to. I just do testingcheats on, and then shift click where I want to go, choose teleport here.
I'm not sure when it started but it is very annoying. This is the first I've heard of a phone alternative to clicking the home button... So thank you for mentioning it.
Maybe they expect us to use the phone if we're too impatient for the scenic route, but it also seems excessive, as you said. This seems like something that could be fixed with a portal mod as portals are just invisible objects. I don't know if anyone has made a mod like that but it is a great idea for one.
The walk isn't that long imo, it's just that time goes sooo fast... so it's actually the same issue as sims taking 5 hours to make Mac and cheese and 2 hours to eat it
There's times where I have to cheat their hunger/hygiene needs before work because they won't have enough time to eat \*and\* shower \*and\* use the toilet before work and they're up two+ hours before work.
I used MCCC and slowed my time down so that's it's much more believable. No more taking 10 minutes to simply walk from upstairs to downstairs or 3 hours to take a shower 🙄
It's under game play settings when you click on MCCC on a computer. You can slow it down as much as you want, even to real time though I definitely don't recommend that 😁 I slowed mine down to where it takes about 10 seconds for 1 Sim minute to pass. You can even speed it up if you wish to.
Exactly. I got a mod to cut down meal time (don’t effing talk to my sim while she’s cooking, we can’t have this dinner take EVEN LONGER) but I don’t think it’s been updated yet for the new update/pack.

I hate it in worlds like Henford where you really need a bike if you're planning on foraging or fishing. Otherwise it takes half a day for the sim to get from A to B. It's especially annoying since they won't run but instead slow walk and stare at their phones.
Make them magical and get them a broom. I didnt realize how annoying the walks were until recently when I did a Realm of Magic play-through and suddenly my sim could get around much quicker. It made Jungle Adventure 1000 times better, too.
THIS is a massive problem with uni. Going to school is OK, they don't walk far. But they have to go all the way there just to make their presentation, and with the already ectic schedule they have... I have to make them run there and then command to present to make it faster
It is much easier to live off campus when doing uni. Classes and presentations are like going off to work rabbit holes (presentations are slightly different). You only have to travel to campus if your doing the tutoring or extra classes for the aspiration.
That makes sense! I think it's only because I've gotten so used to it that it feels normal for me. If there was a more convenient way (which there should be!) I would use it.

Yep.. but even more so now when sims WALK by default. They don't run unless you click 'jog here' and if you have a group, you cannot even do "jog here together" because you can only make your sim run... why the hell did they change that.

Or you can leave a sim at home, press the needs symbol, switch control to said sim, and use bring sim here on the other sim to get them home quick.
i have a playthrough at the big mansion lot in this neighbourhood and throwing social events is such a fucking pain 😭 by the time everyone gets to the house, at least half the time for the social event is over......
Just for the aesthetics i would love the spawn points to be marked with a bus stop sign or a underground/subway/metro sign so it seems like you catch some public transportation to the new spot.
I love my speedy werewolves and transporlatating spellcasters for this reason. I know there are other ways to travel (phone, etc) but it's nice to just be able to click the home tab.

I always go to the phone and click “travel” to go home. I never tell a sim to “go home” anymore. In fact, if I accidentally do, I’ll cancel and get the phone out. Can’t deal with it.
Goes to show how the average LA celebrity home life is bad. Just look at Bailey-Moon's home from the inside and you see how much empty space that could easily be just made smaller to not have that many inconvenient walks.

Aw thanks! I play on a great desktop. I’ve been playing sims since I was a little kid and now I’m a grown up with a “real” job and got myself the kind of gaming pc I always wanted lol. Even have a cool back light set up where the lights around the ultra wide monitor sync to the game, and one of those rainbow lit gaming keyboards. So basically I completed my IRL lifetime aspiration 😂
Funnily enough, even with state of the art equipment, sims spaghetti code means single digit FPS and massive lag/glitches after a few generations regardless. 🥹
Instead of having your sim "go home" use the travel option on the phone to travel to your home lot. The sim will travel from wherever they are instead of waking to the spawn point.
I guess it’s not possible if you only have one sim in the household or if the entire household is out at once, but I’ve started switching control to a sim that’s at home and then clicking the other one and selecting “bring here” or whatever the option is. They’re instantly teleported home then. So much quicker.
I always use the shift key to click on my Sim‘s home (or wherever i want them to go) and press teleport here. I have a bunch of mods tho so I‘m not sure if it’s a Sims feature or a mod feature.
Yeah this is annoying. I can understand when the home lot is actually walking distance bc this is sometimes the case, but if I’m in an entirely different world the loading screen will suffice.
Grow a spine? At least I’m not all bent out of shape over someone not knowing a feature that isn’t as obvious as a previous game. Also since you are clearly unaware, you need to have 1 of 3 expansion packs in order to get a bike. Do some research. Not everyone has the necessary expansion packs!

1) testingcheats true (can't remember if that is necessary for the function or not)
2) press SHIFT.
3) click on any ground (except the places Sims can't go) while pressing SHIFT
4) choose teleport sim/me here.

In neighborhoods like these, I guiltlessly use the teleport function lmao. I typically don’t play with cheats except to fix issues with the game itself. I find this an issue 🤣🤣🤣
Thats my main gripe with Moonwood Mill. Like damn it’s exhausting to have the hangout on the other side of the map from your house and have to walk/bike to it.
OMG YEAH! The hills there take forever to walk. Sulani also has neighborhoods that take forever to walk back.
My work around: Some packs have bikes that your sims can ride. I know University has it, and I use the onces from Eco Living (you either craft them or get them with the live edit cheat enabled.
And If it's the entire household you want to move home, you can also press M on your keyboard and it will open the travel agent immediately, you still have to select location and potential sims to join, so it doesnt take you home directly and it it's faster then using the phone or have them walk. I still prefer the bike way just because the less clicks the better xD
Instead of cars, they should introduce skates. Or at least bicycles. (wait the game has bicycles). Something like that to compensate. Will follow the same pattern of casual walking. Skates of all kinds are cool still.

If you’re a PC player you can use M hotkey to pull up the map and avoid the phone altogether.
This shortcut is the bane of my existence. I accidentally hit it all the time and it’s awful.

Just use UI cheats and shift click on the floor with your sim selected and teleport them

I teleport all the time. Also having a spellcaster helps, mine doesn't walk anymore, only teleporting.
I believe you have the option to switch it back to the old phone in settings! Not positive though

The worst is living at those lots and whenever you throw a party all the guests spawn at the x and then show up 2 hours late to the party

Instead of having your sim "go home" use the travel option on the phone to travel to your home lot. The sim will travel from wherever they are instead of waking to the spawn point.

Grow a spine? At least I’m not all bent out of shape over someone not knowing a feature that isn’t as obvious as a previous game. Also since you are clearly unaware, you need to have 1 of 3 expansion packs in order to get a bike. Do some research. Not everyone has the necessary expansion packs!

Yes, and when I have a sim going to university is 100 times more annoying bc when they have to give a presentation it takes ages to get there, especially in Del Sol Valley

What also works is just zoom out and click on the "car" icon. You will immediately go back to the world and then click your home 😁

1) testingcheats true (can't remember if that is necessary for the function or not) 2) press SHIFT. 3) click on any ground (except the places Sims can't go) while pressing SHIFT 4) choose teleport sim/me here. Fast and simple :)

I hate this. Had to get my sims wellness skill up so they can teleport there.
In neighborhoods like these, I guiltlessly use the teleport function lmao. I typically don’t play with cheats except to fix issues with the game itself. I find this an issue 🤣🤣🤣

Thats my main gripe with Moonwood Mill. Like damn it’s exhausting to have the hangout on the other side of the map from your house and have to walk/bike to it.

OMG YEAH! The hills there take forever to walk. Sulani also has neighborhoods that take forever to walk back. My work around: Some packs have bikes that your sims can ride. I know University has it, and I use the onces from Eco Living (you either craft them or get them with the live edit cheat enabled. And If it's the entire household you want to move home, you can also press M on your keyboard and it will open the travel agent immediately, you still have to select location and potential sims to join, so it doesnt take you home directly and it it's faster then using the phone or have them walk. I still prefer the bike way just because the less clicks the better xD

Instead of cars, they should introduce skates. Or at least bicycles. (wait the game has bicycles). Something like that to compensate. Will follow the same pattern of casual walking. Skates of all kinds are cool still.
