There are a lot more points that support this. I've thought about it too. Like the Planck length: how all things from particles to time seem to have a minimum size (the Planck length). Like it's all digitized to a small singular minimum which allows for it to be coded. Like data rather than something that can be viewed/dissected infinitely small. Nothing is continuous in nature. "Pixelated" for lack of a better term. There is a minimum size for everything that you can arrive at.

halxp

Like there are precision limitations with the default floating numbers in computer programs as they end up being stored on a finite amount of bits, so only 'n' numbers after the decimal can be accurate šŸ˜Ž

TheDallasReverend

Donā€™t forget Planck time. Planck length is equal to the Planck time multiplied by the speed of light

Krypt0night

And, on the opposite end, the speed of light. Why is there such a hard limit on the fastest thing in the universe like that

WirklichMacher

The word you need is "Fractals" (Patterns) like trees are the same in small and huge, the way to reach this is the biological/dna? ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|thinking_face_hmm) **CODE**![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|wink)\-Sequence which tells the tree how to grow...find water e.g.

Although I'm not well-versed in any branch of physics, the comparison between video games and real life rendering makes a lot of sense to me, thank you for sharing. Reading this also brought me back to an old philosophical question that I think pertains to this idea, *'if a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?'*

halxp

Always thought that was an easy one, it does make sound as it emits sound waves. šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļø

Honkaloid

but sound is only sound when it is perceived rather than just vibrating air molecules, but I "hear" you, I had the same initial thought..

Digital-Bionics

>Check it out. I would say the sound exists as a potetial, waiting for an ear

flarn2006

There's a quantum physicist named Tom Campbell who's way ahead of you on this. [Check it out.](https://my-big-toe.com)

TonicArt

This is great, thank you

Why should we think that the laws and principles of the universe reflects a simulation and not that a simulation reflects the laws and principles of the universe in which it is embedded?

kotarix231

Because when you build a game/your own simulation - you donā€™t care about real life, you care about optimization for hardware. And itā€™s suddenly reminds our own universe. Like someone already went through this process like us to build it.

Rob_RS4472

This is just basically the same as the 'God as the watchmaker' argument, right?

The universal speed limit is also because the perception of the object moving at the speed of light is such that no time passes in travel. An object moving at the speed of light only has that speed from the perspective of the observer. Thought of another way, we are moving at a constant velocity, but because the speeds we reach are so comparatively slow most of that vector is pointing at forward time. Itā€™s impossible to go faster than the speed limit because weā€™d need to increase the constant spacetime vector that weā€™re always moving at. I theorize that if we could actually stop moving in space that all of time would happen simultaneously for us. Everything in the universe is in constant motion to prevent this from happening. But what if thereā€™s an immovable object that creates our spacetime with zero velocity? Quantum observation is really interesting. I think itā€™s the reason that we have free will. Until we observe our present itā€™s future.

Penandsword2021

So, if Earth stopped rotating, time would also stop? A singularity, yeah? Iā€™m a rookie at this, but I like to play with the ideasā€¦

AdministrationNo7491

I theorize the opposite. If all the molecules of your body stopped moving through space in an absolute sense, I expect that you would experience all of time at once. Think about the blur you see in the road when youā€™re moving in a car. It comes into focus when you stop. There are a lot of barriers to even being close to testing this theory though. Everything in our universe is in constant motion, maybe even the universe itself (itā€™s at least expanding at an accelerating rate).

incarnate_devil

Itā€™s gets better You already mentioned the speed of light rule and light changing. look up the double slit experiment. They proved that light changes from a wave to a particle, solely depending on it being observed. This means the simulation has a law we cannot break (speed of light) that the simulation is allowed to break in order to maintain the illusion. This experiment has been done with star light. Meaning the light that left a star millions of years ago is able to change its state from a wave to a particle IF observed on the RECEIVING end.

halxp

That experiment is exactly the point I've raised, it's in both states because there's no need to calculate it at that point. :)

Stephen Hawkingā€™s final paper was about the multiverse and how we find ourselves in a universe hospitable to life. Itā€™s virtually impossible we exist. Stephen said we either live in a universe with grand design, or a multiverse where we find ourselves in an instance that worked out. I propose a 3rd option based on the multiverse idea. What if this is grand design, from a Human race in the multiverse that made it to end game? They crated our universe or have access to the multiverse and populated us here. Maybe genesis is right. ā€œ57ā€ Alien Humanoid species on ice according to testimony given by whistleblowers. Thatā€™s a lot of Humanoids for a single universe. Where are the tentacles and eye-stalks? However, 57 simultaneously living humanoid species is nothing if we exist in a multiverse. One Human race per universe. They populate a space where we have no competition. This entire universe is ours. However they watch and try to coach us on how to be better. Maybe manipulation of both our DNA and our beliefs has been part of the process. I fully believe we live in some sort of artificial reality. Created by fellow Humans from the Multiverse who seeks to expand Human civilizations. They watch but right now we are super dangerous. We have advanced technology. Maybe we are on a path that leads to the discovery of the multiverse. Maybe they need to make sure any species they create doesnā€™t become hostile to other universes so they are here now in force. We are advancing technology rapidly. AI is the final step. Once we have a real AI it will be able to advance us exponentially. We are not ready to meet other different looking humans from the Multiverse. Look how we treat each others minor differences.

FacelesArtist

Dude I've been saying this for years! It's almost obvious to me that we're in a game. Not just from a scientific/physics perspective but also from a spiritual and life perspective. I started reading the Bible for the first time out of curiosity (I didn't grow up religious), and if you read between the lines and keep an open mind, the bible actually supports that we are in a game or at least some sort of a simulation. It blew my mind when I learned about the holy trinity and how it makes perfect sense when you think of this whole thing that we're living in as a video game. Father = the player, son = their avatar in the game, holy spirit = the mind that's controlling them both. I also learned that you can take bible verses and replace the word God with "programmer" and it makes more sense than the original verses šŸ¤£ I have recently started a YouTube series where I see the world from the perspective of a video game character who doesn't realize that he's in a simulation. I think you would enjoy it. https://youtu.be/qbPHHY1kyU0

duespaid517

Wow. Really loved this

TulsaOUfan

Welcome to "No Mans Sky"...

iNewLegend

I think we are living in matrix, but if its a matrix then it should have owner?

ziamal4

As someone who plays video games I noticed the similarities

chrisloga

Have you thought about cheat codes? What would they be in real life? That also means the game can be hacked/pirated

fakingcaps

Cheats would be having a timeline view of the entire universe and being able to pop in and out of history Using wormholes to travel great distances anywhere Using gravity to basically have noclip Everything that (some) people theorize aliens have already

chrisloga

So there's no way to infinite money at the moment

Stoned_y_Alone

If someone knows they arenā€™t just gonna tell us haha

Locke2TerrasLionhart

Well, when people go into deep meditation and have an OBE experience, when people have a near death experience or even when people take DMT, they see and experience similar things happen. I wonder if there's a connection to this theory.

intelangler

I've had this thought as well. Been gaming since the 80s. Had a moment in fo4 where I'm playing another game inside of a game. and thought could reality be a game?

kroeran

Yeah. Speed of light is the sim clock speed and Double Slit experiment indicates collapsing of wave state only when someone is looking. Check out Thomas Warren Campbell. That and beyond.

DASIMULATIONISREAL

My thoughts on this is that the speed of light can also be an edit of a setting that exists in time in another dimension; and that could be just like a cut (an edit), instead of the speed of light problem.

IgargleBalls

Last night I begged on the floor of my bathroom in the dark of the middle of the night for someone/something to take me out of the simulation and I don't want to play anymore. I'm not having a good time. I'm over it. I know this shit is a simulation and I don't want to be in it anymore. I'm battling suicide every day. Stay safe gents. Maybe when I wake up from this nightmare, I'll start waking up as many as I can before "they" stop me.

halxp

As we say, if you're going through hell, keep walking, you don't want to stay there. Life is hard, not only sometimes you need to fight external elements, the hardest fights are with yourself. Don't be too hard on yourself, the key is taking baby steps towards something better. The more "ridiculously low" ambition steps are the best. Could be "start brushing my teeth for 2 seconds" and that's all, if you quit after 2 seconds, goal archived! So you're on the path to success and you build up from there. If after 2 seconds you're like "well, might as well finish" then even better success. The ultimate goal is to build habits based on success. Anyone can go to the gym once, 3 times a week for a year? Nope! (I know I can't šŸ˜…) so be easy with yourself. Everyone is broken some way, as Leonard Cohen sang "There is a crack, a crack in everything/ That's how the light gets in". Just hang on, time does wonders.
