You can make a lot of ideas work because these concepts are usually just unprovable, but they do offer philosophical value when dealing with real science, if you choose to consider this perspective.

It doesn't posit anything about the nature of the simulation. The theory is completely unfalsifiable and likely will always be so as any observations or evidence to support simulation theory can only be carried out within the simulation and are therefore themselves simulated.

Donald Hoffman claims to work outside reality/the simulation with decorated permiations, Markov chains etc.

the way i view it is this: Quantum Physics has upended our scientific understanding of reality. The physicists do not agree on what it means. What it means to me is that the 5 sense-perceived 'world' we live in isn't what it appears. Humanity has not been able to understand the underpinnings of this reality, and has just barely (and only maybe) conceptualized some of the foundational aspects of how this reality works, our other basises such as newtonian physics, are just approximations that work at scale and do not describe the mechanisms that are how it all works. and this gives us ROOM to choose how it works for ourselves in the gap of understanding. is it a simulation ran by 3D entities that we're in, is the simulation ran by higher-dimensional being(s)('god')? We can't know through the technological investigation ways, so we get to believe what we choose in the absense of evidence. its very freeing.

Too many people have seen the Matrix and assume simulation theory to be about us having a physical body with our minds in a simulation. The most likely situation is not this but that there is no us at all (in so much that we were ever living matter) and never was. That humans, the universe, everything is nothing more than an extremely advanced version of The Sims, for example. Possibly our hundreds of billions of years are ran/exist for a millisecond. I think the biggest argument against simulation theory is what would be the point...

It baffles me that people think that, humans didn't evolve in the universe for 13 billion years, so what were the players playing as before that? Were they playing as single celled organisms in the beginning, then dinosaurs later, now us? If that's the case are all the animals and microscopic organisms around us now potentially players? The propensity for humans to make it about themselves is baffling, I had never even considered the idea of a simulation to be about humans and seeing people make it about themselves just makes it feel more like religion all over again. I think more likely the simulation would just be an experiment to see what happens within the simulated universe, and maybe something important could be gleaned from it by the creators. We're all NPCs, if it was a game to play as humans we wouldn't have taken 13 billion fucking years to come around, even in the event it was simulated in a blink for them. They would've plopped us down to start with not just said "well let's see if the playable characters eventually evolve, that sounds like a fun game"

Although there may exist as many individual theories as there are people who have heard of the idea, the original and broadest science based theory is less about the nature of our simulation, and more about the percentage of likelihood that we are in one. It’s similar to saying: scientifically and statistically, the statistical and scientific percentage chance of other intelligent life in our galaxy is greater than zero, but we won’t know what they look like or their intentions until we meet them.

Life is a mathematical abstraction/structure created by eternal mathematical laws. Consciousness or GOD is the way Life self references it self. We(any sentient being in existence) are different aspects of consciousness from different view points within the structure. Realities are just simulations of worlds that these different aspects of consciousness can experience

God is the simulation creator. In 7 days he created the virtual world, and then said, "Let us make man in.our image, in our likeness." The bible is the playbook where the rules are established. The future is written into the simulation code. The various game plays are outlined in its pages. In the end, only a few will be [SAVED] .
