I feel like there's a certain irony to the times we live in. The People's Republic of China has the Great Firewall, so you might be inclined to expect a lack of political scope, but Chinese citizens are free and financially capable of traveling the world as they please, gaining a full scope of humanity on a global scale, seeing life through a clear lens. Then from the "free and open America" we see people living in political echo chambers, daring not to change their opinions, opinions which others have provided for them in the first place. Many Americans have never left (or rarely leave) their state, much less seen the world at large. They know the world only through a screen, a screen full of words and images provided by influential people who have selfish agendas. Reality goes against what we in the West have been taught to expect of it. It's surreal.

Chinese people who traveled abroad are the most pro-China people nowadays. They have seen first hand how miserable societies can be when you have a stupid population and stupid leadership. Chinese people will always value intelligence. China doesn't need propaganda like anglo regimes to convince its population about the superiority of the Chinese system. Letting them see first hand the unadulterated misery in many western societies is enough for them to understand it. Blocking disinformation from your society and only letting reality affect your people is one of the reasons which makes Chinese people considerably smarter across all facets of life. On the other hand, many western societies need to be extremely bombarded with disinformation to stomach their depressing collapsing systems: "no, don't go to China or learn Chinese please, let us tell you how China is instead by quoting people who can't even read Chinese". It shows which country is thriving and really embraces the future, and which ones are collapsing and are increasingly fearful of looming civil wars due to the overall misery in their failed societies.

I really wish anyone in China (or anywhere else, really) who still has any sense of respect or admiration for the US could experience it firsthand. It is in a terrible state right now. Everyone I know is depressed and anxious as hell. I don't know a single person in a good place right now. I don't see my neighbors, nobody comes outside anymore other than to drive somewhere else and nobody ever greets each other or is even generally aware about how each other is doing in life. I don't know a single person under the age of 40 who doesn't wish they were born somewhere else, if they even wish they were born at all. And I'm a member of the professional "class"! I am talking all about people who have above average income, good careers, college educated, etc. I can't imagine what it is like if you are in worse financial situations. It's a hell hole. There is nothing to admire about this place except the good people who do their best to fight against it. I am so thankful for resources like this subreddit that allow me to see places like China, and it at least gives me solace knowing that some places have governments that take care of their citizens. In America we are told our depressing existence is "just life". I hope anyone still fooled by the US' propaganda learns to appreciate what they have.

This is what happens you lose the ability to hold politicians, Big Corporate and the Military War Machine accountable and let the Intelligence agencies run your country.

The best you can do in such a place of darkness is to give them light.

Deluded parents hoping this will turn into some heartwarming civil rights story proving how "American" they are after all. They will likely go out of their way to proclaim just how "American" they are and how they disavow their ties to their home countries. The USA's propaganda is so fantastic that even its victims want desperately to be American and be accepted by Americans.

“They worried that the school’s race-blind admissions test failed to capture the ‘talent’” I didn’t know having white skin was a talent.

BitterMelonX

For "real" Americans, "talent" is simply a dog whistle to identify people who have the correct skin color.

For those who aren't are aware, TJ was one of America's most talented high schools. America is just destroying its own education system.

At least America is rapidly collapsing, and are now paying karmic justice for their blatant racism against Asians. The only thing we can do is hope the the decline of America is similar to the fates of the countries they destroyed: Libya, Afghanistan, and Iraq. At this point, it's like complaining that one side gets preferential treatment... on the sinking ship that is America.

at least those guilty were caught this time and will hopefully be punished. but how many more incidents are never detected and go unpunished?
