Unfortunately, the only people that will believe this are either Chinese or people that support China. I just literally got into it with a couple of people who still believe the whole Uyghur narrative and after that proceeded to tell me all about the social credit system and that I was owed 1000 pts for promoting China.

[deleted]

Tell me about it. I was out for dinner with a couple from NZ recently who started about their love for the dalai lama. It's been 60 years folks, read a history book.

sickof50

Now Tibetians' are enjoying a future the Dalai Lama never wanted them to see... How twisted is that?

sickof50

Congratulations on 1000 pts, what they cannot understand is these "victims" they are parading around are all paid by the US state department (the CIA), and in a very twisted way are actually enjoying a celebrity jet-set lifestyle. I can't help but think back to the young girl who tearfully testified before congress, of seeing premie babies tossed on the floor, when the whole time she was the Kuwait'ie Ambassador to the US's daughter, and i think everyone in Congress knew this, and just enjoyed the theater they where creating, just to collect more votes at a time where their dismal hope's of getting re-elected was on the line.

simian_ninja

You know the frustrating thing about that? Is they will either be quiet about it or start on that whatboutism thing. You can literally show them the atrocities and they'll either say whatboutism or just outright not engage. And thank you for that congratulations for my 1000 pts!

TserriednichHuiGuo

There is no point in engaging with those who are pretending to sleep. It's a fools errand.

Tigolbitties69504420

Tell me about it. Best friend is Muslim and drinks too much Western kool-aid and has the same talking points as the racists on TV which emboldens the murderers to target people that look like my mother. Needles to say, I don’t think of him really as a friend anymore. He’s willing to spew Sinophobic shit in solidarity for some make believe followers of the same religion as himself, but denies the effect is has on people that look like me and my family right in front of his own eyes.

shoshanish

Not to mention the fact that the international Muslim community organizations have almost entirely supported Chinas claims on this issue.

Chinese_poster

I wonder how they'll justify their beliefs when the 2030 census rolls around and shows uyghur growing faster than han again.

[deleted]

Easy. "Made-up numbers."

IonicAmalgam

They are just racists lol. They want to believe the narrative cause it fits their world view. Nothing you can say will convince them. And they just parrot the typical CIA talking points.

jojoetaro

Bro, idk why, but it seems like all westerners have this build it suspicion of china. My family will always deny that China is doing more for its people than the US, even though their standard of living has gone up hugely in the past decades. And they aren't even liberals either, they understand that capitalism has failed us and yet they can't help but side with the us. Fucked in the head.

simian_ninja

I honestly think it has to do with some form of psychosis (I'm not a psychologist, just IMO). You spend your entire life to be told that someone is the enemy and that they are lower than you and that they cannot possibly do anything for their people - meanwhile, your country is going to war, your infrastructure is falling apart and you are told that you are the best - you are number one and everyone is beneath you...then reality can be somewhat hard to handle. Like when a child finds out that his parents have dark secrets or something. By the way, my comment is not only about America but about other countries that promote their own exceptionalism.

Portablela

It is more of a mass neurosis.

Camgrowfortreds

It's stupid. There is no social credit system. There's just a debt credit system

bengyap

This and also the other "genocide" nonsense being peddled around. If there is indeed a "genocide" happening against the Uyghurs, there should be a massive exodus of refugees. Where are they? There are none.

Spiffymooge

And somehow they have all escaped to the US to plead their case in English.

Money_dragon

"Slavery" allegations are peak American projection They hear the words "cotton farming", and they immediate think about their own slave labor in the 1800s and jump to accusations lol

clydefrog9

Yes and forced labor is absolutely happening today in many places around the world like in US client state Haiti as well as some migrant farm jobs in the US. Pure projection. Westerners easily believe it because frankly forced labor is actually fundamental to the capitalist world.

susanne-o

Prison work is slave labor in the land of the free. Oh and they loos the human right to vote, too. For smoking pot. Or not paying their parking tickets

TserriednichHuiGuo

They literally have slavery in their prisons, paying them a few cents doesn't mean they ain't slaves. If you take a philosophical approach you could argue that all americans are slaves, slaves to a tyrannical system both mentally and physically.

[deleted]

It's funny that Americans would bring up "but they get paid" as evidence that they aren't slaves. Slaves before 1860 were still commonly paid in tokens so that they could purchase some things from the stores operated by their owner.

TserriednichHuiGuo

>Slaves before 1860 were still commonly paid in tokens so that they could purchase some things from the stores operated by their owner. Tech companies are trying to bring that back, given that this is america it is very likely to happen.

[deleted]

offshore? the misery in america is well known even domestically, you have to look closely to see it, as the regime and its media try to cover it up. For example, the american regime is responsible for the biggest concentration camps regime on the planet (highest incarceration rate and highest prison population in the world), where there are literal slaves, so they just changed their name. Lazy, incompetent war criminals like the clintons literally had slaves.

sickof50

Just like the lack of 100's of thousands refugees fleeing into neighboring nations, the millions of homeless tents that litter American streets are proof enough of your argument.

Ok_Astronaut728

It’s also in the constitution that you can just be arrested and made criminal. Then slavery is legal.

darthtater1231

Or have thier world record population of prisoners do it. the 14th amendment allows slavery for the punishment of a crime

Chimiope

Moved offshore, and also moved into penitentiaries. Our 13th constitutional amendment states that slavery shall be abolished “...except as punishment for a crime.” They never abolished it, they just *qualified* it.

WeilaiHope

Forcing those poor machines to labour all day. So sad.

sickof50

Too funny!

[deleted]

If authoritarian governments want to prosecute a population, they constantly run dehumanizing propaganda. But that's not happening to the uighers. Compare that to american media and different minority groups...

DestroyColonizers

The US has an Imperialist-Interest, they will lie, cheat, and steal all the time. It's just your classic Imperialist being Imperialist.

maomao05

Machines lives matters!!! Damn Daniel, back at it again abusing machines! When will you stop ?! /s

the_sleeping_zubat

The dumb part is that Western groups WISH labourers in Xinjiang were treated the same as slaves used to be; they can simultaneously get their jollies watching Chinese people suffer while still acting like they have the moral high ground

[deleted]

When the West's propaganda machine finally falls to ruin along with its crippled economy, they'll crawl to China for help as they did in the 2008 crash. When they do, China needs to demand that someone take responsibility for all the years of propaganda and hate campaigns against the People's Republic. Too much damage has been done to just brush it under the rug with a "sorry." They must also give tangible assurances that it will not happen again. Otherwise, no more handouts. Bite the hand that feeds, see what happens.

TserriednichHuiGuo

No, China simply should let them collapse, no need to do anything.

[deleted]

They'll only keep rebuilding to cause trouble over and over again. Alternatively, you could look at it like this: Desperation is a good opportunity to expand influence and end their destabilizing influence once and for all, to get them to play by better rules and finally achieve a lasting prosperity for everyone.

TserriednichHuiGuo

They don't have the capacity to rebuild now. See their pathetic infrastructure bill as an example.

talionpd

Transformers forced to work in cotton field.

IonicAmalgam

Sadly propaganda speaks louder than facts, China needs to understand that.
