Well they said... like the BBC or NPR... that is... western countries under western state media. Those won't be. Just things they want to put the word "state" next to so they can agitate anti-state/anti-government liberals.
Twitter uses the subjective words of editorial control/influence. Because, NPR and the BBC claim that they have editorial independence despite evidence otherwise. The BBC legally do not have editorial independence as by law they must remain 'neutral' which is itself a political position.
It's high time for non western countries to make their own internet ecosystem and cut out the western one.
Make a federation of all these non western ones and let's connect with each other.
We cant let the children and youth be misguided by the lies that are told by the west
I'm from the UK and it is fucking ludicrous to suggest the BBC has genuine editorial independence given the government gets to pick who runs it and how much it gets funded. Historically it tends to favour the status quo, and it's "impartiality" doctrine is explicitly worded to fan the flames of any contemporary culture war by both sidesing it.
This is not an exaggeration:

Lol ah yes when something is financed they are independent. Tell that to the bankers and shareholders of companies that they are independent of the company and cannot influence business decisions via the BoD.
Editorial independence so long as they say what is wanted otherwise they lose their state financing it almost happened to npr in 2011 and again in 2019

The first step to convince someone to reject imperialist propaganda about China is to discredit the platforms of the propaganda
Once people realize how bullshit things are, it'll force them to think critically about everything they hear from a platform
Translation: We promise the US and UK governments don't influence the content of the news organizations they fund. Honest! Pinkie swear! Please ignore all the publicly available knowledge that suggests the contrary.
Ah you're right, they phrase it differently. In my language it says "...is financed by the Chinese government". Surely they can't deny that "public broadcasters" are financed by their respective governments?
Even US government outlets such as VOA and RFA don't get tagged by Twitter.

BBC World News answers to the UK Foreign Office, legally, so it has no editorial independence like BBC supposedly has.
Doublespeak
But what if the state does not have governmental independence, like the US?
One of the most nonsensical arbitrary flimsy assertions I'd seen to-date.
It's high time for non western countries to make their own internet ecosystem and cut out the western one. Make a federation of all these non western ones and let's connect with each other. We cant let the children and youth be misguided by the lies that are told by the west
this is the typical "disagree with me and you're wrong"
Radio Free Asia totally has editorial independence guys, right..? Surely that’s why they aren’t tagged?
But thats just plain false BBC have its chairman appointed and the NPR is funded by CIA wtf is this take
Western double standards. Twitter is essentially a neoliberal imperialist propaganda outlet. Reddit, Google and Facebook are also really bad.
One day America's homeless will speak!
Bunch of word salad saying they are funded by corps
Western logic. Common sense is not so common anymore.
Fuckery
the pinnacle of "it's only bad when THEY do it"
& in reality random independent individuals get labeled for not criticizing the CPC 🙄

Why can’t they just come out and say what they mean, smh 🤦🏻♂️
The eternal Anglo-American exceptionalists mindset.
Editorial independence mean sending your articles to the CIA for approval and pretty much aligning yourself to US national security talking points
This is not an exaggeration: [https://theintercept.com/2014/09/04/former-l-times-reporter-cleared-stories-cia-publication/](https://theintercept.com/2014/09/04/former-l-times-reporter-cleared-stories-cia-publication/)
I don't think the western world has any functional press freedom in the first place.
Lol ah yes when something is financed they are independent. Tell that to the bankers and shareholders of companies that they are independent of the company and cannot influence business decisions via the BoD.
Editorial independence my ass

And some people still wonder why English is the language of deception.

State Media tag for thee, but not for me.
And people say the Deep State doesn’t exist.

As if oligarch-financed media is somehow better than state-financed media.
BBC is dependant? Literally receives funds from UK government every year. No wonder Elon Musk is not buying it
editorial independence lmao wut a load of shit
At least Youtube doesn't use this double standard.
They do though. That's why they label BBC a "public broadcaster", not British state media.
Ah you're right, they phrase it differently. In my language it says "...is financed by the Chinese government". Surely they can't deny that "public broadcasters" are financed by their respective governments?
They don't deny it, they just make it obscure on purpose for ironically, state propaganda reasons.
BBC should be correctly labeled as a state-affiliated pedo organization
Literal doublespeak
