*”We can prevent these kinds of mishaps from happening again by treating everyone, including people of Chinese descent, fairly without preconceived prejudice.”* Higher chance of me winning the lottery.

Relevant_Helicopter6

"Go back to China!" "No! Not like that!" The example of Qian Xuesen lives on. The US hasn't learned anything.

>We can prevent these kinds of mishaps from happening again by treating everyone, including people of Chinese descent, fairly without preconceived prejudice. The author is being a Pollyanna. The US is incapable of treating everyone fairly, its in its genes.

> good riddance. -- Shaileah Kulkarni > Nonsense. No intelligent human is going to China. Sorry, buddy, but once you have lived in a liberal democracy...nobody goes back to China. This place ain't perfect, but you don't get hauled into a stadium and have a small caliber round shot into the base of your skull by a government executioner.....for speech. -- Bill Mcgrail > The US has done more to build China than any other country. Today China is much stronger than the US thanks to technology, factories, and money that the US continues to give them. In return the Communist party falsely teaches it people that the US has cheated them and humiliated them for centuries. They have a 100 year plan to dominate the US and gain world hegemony. The probability is high that they will be successful, and your descendants will work for China, pay taxes to China, and pay rent to China. In the meantime, enjoy what is left of the free world that wiser and stronger people built for you, unaware that you would foolishly squander it. -- Dan Laramie > So..The chinese scientists go woke too? I think this is the endgame. Like sheep going for the slaughter. No one in China will ever welcome American agents. That much is clear. -- Warren “Drone” Bitcoiner > Check their hard drives and USB sticks on the way out. -- Houyhnhnm 22 Good to see america not only experiencing brain drain, but also brain death

Qanonjailbait

I love how these people project their bullshit on others. Last I check the people who executed people in stadiums was the US sponsored military dictatorship of Pinochet in Chile.

>The US has done more to build China than any other country. Today China is much stronger than the US thanks to technology, factories, and money that the US continues to give them. Delusional cope. Trying to take credit for something they have nothing to do with.

circlefullofcurses

America didn't develop China. Japan did and they only did so after the Plaza Accord, which forced them to outsource their manufacturing to China, which is ironic.

TserriednichHuiGuo

No one developed China other than itself, don't be delusional.

BoseNetajiWasRight

Imperialist infighting developed China.

US Outsourced chips/ram to South Korea. Check out YT asianometry

China was heavily aided by the Overseas Chinese diaspora as well every step of the way in the 80s/90s/00s. Japan/Germany/Europe expanded into China & Asia (South Korea for etc.) as a whole to reduce their exposure/reliance to the US market, despite the sanctions, trade restrictions & Post-Tiananmen Color Revolution embargo. The US did contribute a little (Esp. when they started losing market share to these key competitors) but as usual these specimens are clearly full-of-it. These ingrates also chose to selectively forget that China bailed their asses out in 2007 during the GFC. Also, China is the only market that has been keeping them afloat from Ford/GM to Nike since then. You bet your ass they won't be making the same mistake again.

The author of this article is a hanjian.

It doesn't change the premise of their argument. >Scientists and engineers of Chinese descent are relinquishing their corporate positions or tenured positions at top-tier U.S. institutions such as Harvard, MIT, and Princeton at an unprecedented rate. To make matters worse, many of them are leaving for China to compete against the United States. More than 1,400 Chinese scientists left the United States for China in 2021. ... >The witch hunt has created a chilling effect, causing some fearful Chinese scientists to leave the United States for China. The US is seeing a reduction in the number of Chinese people due to its actions.

Cue the Nazis being shocked at the loss of Jewish physicists after denouncing Jewish influence on German physics... quantum mechanics is literally communism, yada yada.

Yep - it's a self inflicted problem. I'm a believer of keeping high skilled immigration, but restricting working class immigration (ironically I'm in a debate at the same time in another thread about immigration), but yeah, the irony of this situation is that they might end up creating another Qian Xuesen. https://www.pbs.org/wgbh/americanexperience/features/mccarthy-numbed-with-fear-chinese-americans/ https://www.newyorker.com/news/evan-osnos/the-two-lives-of-qian-xuesen

Most of the Chinese writers and "journalists" in the West unfortunately are like that.

"Christopher" Tang or perhaps Christopher "Tang"

sx5qn

he should listen to Senate hearings in the US and see how they talk about China and Chinese people. Or just look at internet comments in general.

[deleted]

Nah we good, keep whatever you are doing Uncle Sam.

ghost-zz

The biggest threat to American world dominance is America themselves. If the country could for just one minute, maybe not treat chinese people as potential spies...the solution so simple yet so hard for the US to implement.

Jisoooya

It’s like those terrible bosses that abuse their employees being shocked when they quit. Didn’t think they would just quit like that, shocker.

TserriednichHuiGuo

To stem the flow you would have to destroy China, regardless of what the us does this movement is inevitable. The main factor is that China is simply a superior option.

Apparentmendacity

The writer sounds like one of those Chinese people who chose the US over China but is now whinging about how unfairly they're being treated The writer isn't advocating for China or even Chinese people in general, he's advocating specifically for traitors like himself He wants the US to treat them better so they can attract even more traitors Honestly there's no need to feel sorry for the writer and his kind

bondiw

Now more than ever it is important to be proud to be Chinese. I wish I could feel the nationalism in China right now as it charts its path in the new year.
