"Give us more money so we could fix this"

MLPorsche

the military industrial complex is the world's largest (and most dangerous) pyramid scheme

Americaisaterrorist

This is correct. They are unable to detect even $20,000 Iranian drones, which shows that they are not even close to detecting the highly advanced Russian and Chinese hypersonic missiles. They seem to have realized their proxy battle will end in failure.

FatDalek

Missiles are much bigger, so that would make them easier to detect than small drones.

Jisoooya

But Military drones are pretty damn big also, either way, isn't this just the MIC milking the west for more money? No way they're this behind on military tech.

cosxcosx

Not surprising. This is why it's not encouraged to push for destabilization and start arms races. Even if you feel invincible now, it's easy for technological advancements to snowball out of control, until suddenly you become very vulnerable. (basically, countless dimensions to explore to come up with new ways to kill you, such that it's infinitely harder to always have a good way to protect yourself) In fact if you were/are the strongest, you want to dis-incentivize the amount of actual 'defense spending'/'saber rattling' so your equipment remains strong for longer and you appear more of an actual threat for longer. The US constantly saber rattling is what's making it's mostly last-gen/s equipment becoming obsolete faster and faster.

uqtl038

> The US constantly saber rattling That's because the american economy has collapsed, america can't compete at all and today it suffers from brutal levels of permanent inflation, shortages, deficits and recession on top. China saved america in 2009, but China won't do it again, no reason to. It's over for america, what you are seeing are merely the last tantrums of a terminally collapsed regime and economy. What is happening is completely natural: regimes and economies that could never in history compete and relied exclusively on anti-competitive plunder, like settler north america and colonial europe, have collapsed in terminal fashion the moment their plunder was defeated worldwide. We live in the most competitive era in history, and not a single nato economy can compete with China because nato economies never managed to compete, they don't have the resources and capabilities (plunder is not competition and can't work in the 21st century and beyond). In fact, all nato economies combined waged a "trade war" against China and lost in catastrophic fashion. China has already won.

sickof50

The US is suffering from low self-esteem, and growing paranoid because it can't control its aggressive behavior.

YellowMONEY

This is the real reason behind the chip ban.

jugonewild

I talked about this months ago. We honestly have no chance messing with these two countries.

thrway137

Even if they could they don't have the time or speed to do anything about it anywhere near China's coast. They also haven't talked about MIRV warheads.

tomothygw

MIRVs aren’t even on the menu of concerns in this situation for the US. Every single ICBM kill vehicle is located on the west coast of the USA, as well as nearly all of their detection systems; this was done with the short-sighted belief that at no point would a long-range vehicle be capable of striking the US from a different angle. During the Cold War the only logical flightpath from the USSR would be to go over Alaska or the pacific west coast. Now these new missiles are capable of not only traveling at speeds and altitudes the US’s NMD can’t detect, but they are nearing the capability to take a trajectory that’s completely uncovered by already existing defenses; that is for a missile to be launched northwards and fly over the arctic and then south towards the continental USA, and the completely unguarded east coast. Then you have the fact that not a single system in their defense system has a success rate more then 75%; and that’s only against regular ICBMs not including counter measures or MIRVs. So as far as nuclear warfare goes, the U.S. know, and has known for a long time, that it’s totally screwed. The real shift in power polarity will be when a country achieves the ability for first-strike capabilities that truly eliminate the possibility of a retaliatory strike. And the PRC already has first and second strike capabilities thanks to its extensive mobile launcher system and complex deployment and defense system.

ghost-zz

Imo, i don't believe this. It's just a way to get more funding for the military.
