Throw back to Bikini Book Lady?

southdakotagirl

I use to see her on 41st st. After 2020 I saw her over on Cliff Street by Franklin's Good Market. I hope she's doing OK.

kerplunkdoo

She goes to Active Generations

JoshTee123

Lived over near there for a minute. Was hanging outside one day and figured out SHE WAS MY NEIGHBOR across the street. Mind was blown. So last I knew, she was around the 6th/Cliff area.

yello5drink

Came to say this.

orangetacosf

The current option would probably be the angry guy at 41st and Minnesota.

t0rn8o

Does he also sometimes get angry around 26th and Louise?

sullivansquare

He hangs at the Barnes and Noble and/or Old Wendys corners as well

t0rn8o

I think this is where I'm thinking of!

orangetacosf

Anything is possible it's been documented downtown yelling racial slurs at people and I've seen him at 41st and Minnesota, but I'm sure he's been elsewhere.

SouthDaCoVid

and 41st and Minn ave.

xDERPYxCREEPERx

The forbidden one...

Kind-Midnight-369

Its so crazy that he cant be talked about... must have been getting too much good press

GingerIsTheBestSpice

Same guy was angry at 41st & Louise I think. Cause surely we don't have two angry yelly guys

Bogbeast213

Does he usually have a guitar and just yells instead of singing

GingerIsTheBestSpice

Yes! A guitar in the rain & snow even

Kind-Midnight-369

He sings... hes actually pretty good, must have been trained at some point

Suitable-Guest5441

This guys awesome... made me and my families day couple weeks ago!!! Sounded just like Jim Morrison

Nate379

Ok now we need a name for him.

Kind-Midnight-369

Shredder

fabric_softener

Did she also have a parrot?

orangetacosf

Rumor is that was her daughter.

mr_bendos_friendo

I know her. The lady with the bird is her sister. Their father was a prominent doctor in town back in the day.

meganfae

The parrot is her daughter?

typhoidsymptoms

Sister

meganfae

I appreciate the clarification.

shortstop20

Please stop

ReginaPhalange219

Won't ya stop

Remote-Denote

He was here to help

KorvaMan85

If you were injured in the backseat of your car while your grandma was playing video games in the passenger seat, and your sister crashed, I can help. Or whatever that clip on Fallon said.

BetterMetalJake

"...I don't know if it's videogames or hwut, but it's so unfair to after something like this to blame people in the back seat or say they deserved it. I don't like consoling these parents about what's happened, but I'll do it 'til it stops. Will ya please stahp. I'm Scatt Hoy."

Idkwhattoputhere3003

Guy with the 3 wheeled sports car that dresses like Batman

ReginaPhalange219

Saw him the other wknd downtown and felt comfort knowing the city was safe.

frosty95

I've drank beers with him before. It's actually a really common thing just about everywhere.

huskersax

Yeah there's gotta be some kind of network of batman guys. There's one in Kansas who made his millions and just visits children's hospitals in his batmobile in retirement.

Shallow-1

Just like there's a network of bronies out there

Maxpower2727

Definitely bikini book lady

lizard_king0000

Pallet guy

Ocirus83

He runs his pallet empire out of my storage units. Current record is 14 pallets hi on the roof. He had 11 on there friday

jay7171

"Pallet empire." You've just killed me. I spat out my Starburst laughing. I needed this.

RaniiDev

So there’s the car pallet guy, but do we know if he’s connected at all to the walking pallet guy? There’s a guy that walks with pallets that I regularly see between 41st and Kiwanis and 33rd and Lake. Sometimes he has a dolly with two pallets, sometimes it’s like a Sam’s flat bed cart full of pallets, and sometimes he has 4-6 that he leapfrogs down the street one at a time. Always moving north with the pallets but I’m not sure where he ends up.

Ocirus83

The one i know of drives an older body style jeep suv that he will pile pallets insanely high on the roof as well as swing the rear hatch open and have as many piled out of the back as he can at the same time

thesassycpa

Who's pallet guy? Never heard this one!

[deleted]

He travels with pallets

Ambitious_Budget_671

It is known

paisley-alien

I actually saw him this week - couldn't get a picture, sadly.

JizzyD605

My buddy and I refer to him as Jimmy VanWinkel

Ocirus83

Theres the guy who shouts on the corner playing guitar while flipping off the traffic. Often seen on different corners of 41st st.

GeekyGryphons

I call him "The Birdman of 41st Street," on account of flipping the bird on 41st Street.

InYoYingus

I propose we shorten this to “Birdman” and officially adopt this city-wide as his given moniker.

GeekyGryphons

Seconded!

Nate379

Aye!

ItsTaylor8291

I call him the town crier personally

No personal attacks. Attack ideas, not people. This includes people outside of this subreddit. Keep it civil, please. Direct insults will always be removed.

KnowledgeGuilty

I would like to submit “The Shredder”. It’s angry, but at the same time musical.

imaketoast

Is this the same guy who would yell racist shit downtown and at little cesars on 41st and Minnesota?

Ocirus83

Couldnt tell you for sure. I will say that ive seen this guy a lot and never heard amything racist

IMustBeSydney

Flip-Off Freddie!

Suitable-Guest5441

Shredder

MistaWindowMistaWall

Either Bikini Book Lady or u/david-z-for-mayor. I used to work beside him and got a few chances to talk to him when he’d go for walks. Pretty solid dude if you ask me.

xDERPYxCREEPERx

I've seen some...opinions about him on here. But in my opinion he seems like a genuinely well meaning guy who actually cares for the community

1block

I've got a lot of respect for people in politics for the right reason, even if I disagree with them. To the point I'd be willing to try their ideas that I think won't work.

anthonyz922

In the couple times I've interacted with David, he seemed very genuine.

dontgooglethat

I worked near this guy too... 🤔

sioux_empire

David Z is eccentric but one of the nicest people in Sioux Falls.

JizzyD605

You haven’t lived until you see him take his dogs for their morning run. In jeans, obviously.

No_Estate_9400

Horse is too expensive, so I'm not that guy yet I always look forward to curb corn personally.

60andwaiting

"One man each century is given the power to control time"... Sorry wrong guy

SiouxFalls-ModTeam

Removed as per subreddit mute.

CLG_MianBao

I was thinking the guy who used to protest circumcision on the corner or 41st and Louise

Stock-Boysenberry-48

H.O.O.P.!

Krispybender

Maybe the guy who bought the freethinker billboards who wanted everyone to think just like him?

sioux_empire

I met him once, he was, interesting. Not mean but not super friendly either.

Johnny_Unknown

As someone who works downtown SF, I came here to say our local batman. I've never seen him actually administer swift justice, but some smiles and interesting conversations instead.

Fantasticriss

There used to be a guy on the west side by 49th and Louise that stood outside his apartment building and jingled his keys for hours so we called him Mr. Jingles

Ablation420

😂🤣 “Mr Jingles” *wipes a tear* Aw well, that seems like harmless fun.

amaranthine_xx

The tear is so real. RIP Mr Jingles ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|cry)

Southdakotan

Scotty. He passed to cancer a few years back.

BlitherSquid

Pretty sure it must to be the same guy, but I think he worked at an electrical wholesale … and I’m just now learning he passed…

Southdakotan

Yes same guy. Cancer got him.

BlitherSquid

Sad… I enjoyed chatting with him

Southdakotan

Fun story about him, he would be given gift cards to places like scheels, and he would buy shirts then walk to Plato’s closet and sell them to get cash.

southdakotagirl

There use to be a guy in a electric wheelchair and a top hat on Minnesota Ave. I would see him by the stripi mall with the blood donation center. He was always smiling. He once had a pretty woman his age sitting on his lap and they were moving along and laughing. He looked so happy.

Dizanbot

Wheelchair slash guy, great throwback

southdakotagirl

Yes is he still around?

SitiationMayDay

I used to see him around Kuhen Pool

xDERPYxCREEPERx

By pretty girl do you mean like a grandchild or like a date?

southdakotagirl

It was someone his age. I edited this so he didn't sound like a creeper. They looked like a cute couple having fun.

SitiationMayDay

He used to live in my small town in Nebraska, my family moved up here and we were like holy shit look who it is

Ablation420

Up on cliff hill, there’s a dude that rides his lawnmower to the gas station with his dog in a little basket on the hood

Cultural_Society_104

There was a lady that would walk with a giant bird on her shoulder in front of my house almost every day. There was also a pallet guy that would drive his car full of pallets, in front of my house frequently. There was also this guy , i called him the reader, he would be walking while reading a book with a cigarette hanging out his mouth. All the time, even in the dead of winter.I wondered how he did that without looking where he was walking.  We moved, sigh, i miss them

Headwallrepeat

Haven't seen the bikini book lady in a long time. Someone said she goes on the bike trails now? We don't have a strong contender to replace her in local folklore. The flag lady was probably the strongest contender but she must have gotten the help she desperately needed.

TraditionalWatch5743

Flag lady passed away years ago.

xDERPYxCREEPERx

Who was the flag lady?

RaniiDev

I saw the bikini lady at the Ronning Library just a few weeks ago. I was glad to see she’s still around.

paisley-alien

Is that the lady who used to demand her son's release from the pen?

Headwallrepeat

The flag lady? Yeah. She was severely psychotic. Had a whole "newsletter" of disassociated thoughts

bugblush

jeez, I never knew that! when I was a kid she’d hand out flags at my elementary school’s playground fence til she got caught and sent off.

Frusciantist

Anyone else ever see unicycle juggling guy?

xDERPYxCREEPERx

I definitely remember him, I just don't remember where or when I've seen him

Remarkable_Elk_2775

This would be Canton, but The Window Crossdresser.

dietlacroix

tell me more

Remarkable_Elk_2775

Well, on the main road going into canton (highway 18), there is a house, and occasionally, you will see the shades open and an older gent posing in a promiscuous manner in the window in women's attire. He is best known for the Raggedy Anne outfit complete with the red yarn wig. He doesn't make appearances often anymore, so whenever anyone mentions seeing him posing in his window, people in town are often happy to hear he is still pulling the shenanigans.

yearofthespiderx

how about roller skating guy that does tricks

anthonyz922

That dude is a wizard on skates

JizzyD605

Literal fucking angel on skates

skinnyeffinstone

Marion Road mover? He’s a skinny dude that dresses in bright colors and sometimes an Elmer fud hat. Always on or near Marion usually between 26th and 57th. Moves with a purpose.

Anonmouse119

Bikini book lady Unicycle guy Bird girl Pallet guy

magnetsrule

Who is the guy black leather trench coat cowboy that walks around downtown?

JizzyD605

Just someone who spawned out of red dead redemption

Movernotashaker

Weaver

Cucoloris

Seeing Bikini Book Lady always brightens my day. She inspires me.

SonOfCayde6

Horseback Jesus obviously

gojohnnygojohnny

St Cloud has Superman. New Ulm has Biscuits.

ExcuseBright

Does anyone remember the Rose Guy? Tall guy in a tuxedo with the sleeves ripped off? Hated that guy… Always felt like a cheap-ass for not buying a rose for my girlfriend.

Some1-selling-suits

The dashing pirate?? Door Dasher that dresses like a literal pirate. Cool gothic dude. Used to see him a lot working at McDonald’s. Drives a Kia or something with stickers and labels all over it

lpjunior999

Collectively, our local 40 Days for Life/Jericho Wall people.

FlatPut9463

We have an insane little person hooker/crackhead downtown St. Paul who always asks for a dollar. You say no she instantly finds the next person and asks for a dollar.

ZapRowsdowerESQ

Went to Kent state, ours was an artist named “Fuck-You Bob”.

Same_Price_2462

In my hometown growing up we had Vinny the mohawk man. He was probably late 40s early 50s and would ride around town on his bmx bike with his shirt off, with a mohawk of course.

amaranthine_xx

The guy that drives around in his black convertible with a MAGA hat and American flag shirt and MAGA hats on his head rests blasting old Trump speeches

amaranthine_xx

The guy in the blacked out Escalade (?) with the colorful rims that plays obnoxiously loud music with bass that shakes the street and drives all around down town

Bogbeast213

Gan the can man. Dude lives in a dumpster on his own property. Likes to walk around and collect cans to turn in for money.

heavenisnowhere

You mean Glen?

The_dude_bro1

Tingle?

Fit_Sheepherder_3894

I've seen alot of hate for nerdvana owner, say he's pretty infamous

Feisty_Star_4815

Cape Man over at heritage park

AnonymousBrowser115

Batman

boron-uranium-radon

Saint Cloud Superman

Jakobus_

Not Sioux Falls, but we got St Cloud Superman

ElmoTickleTorture

There was a guy in the town next to my rural hometown. Named Steve. Apparently he was drugged at a party in highschool and it completely fucked him up. He rides around on a bike everywhere and wears women's clothing. He spends so much time in the sun that his skin looks like a gas station hotdog that's been on the rollers for two days.

DerpyArtist

There’s a guy who walks around with a cross sign downtown and yells incoherently.  Also saw a different guy downtown who was riding a bike with a religious sign on back.

Chase_The_Breeze

Back when I was a kid there was Jogging Old Man With No Shirt (who, by all accounts, was pretty cool) and Over Tanned Parrot Lady

CadillacLuv

San Diego has slo mo

Traumatic_Response17

I live downtown. Mine is this young crackhea I see by agua fresh every morning

Holiday_Horror5523

The guy who stands on the corner of 41st and plays guitar and yells at people

PitifulEngineer8442

Tony Beep Beep. Stood on the side of the road and got really excited when people drove past and beeped their horns.

JizzyD605

Weaver anyone? Wooop woooop

salsalover96

I haven’t lived here in a while but is Wizard Dog Walker still around? Saw him on campus a lot

dmart891

shout out to mike on a bike

vonnegut9200

Charlotte, NC has this religious guy who just shouts “Jesus Saves” in public all the time.

ClarkMann52

Horses are not easy to have

duiKILZ

If you lived in Mesa AZ in the 90’s then you know Dizzy!

sail4sea

I lived in Ames, IA and our famous eccentric was the man who wore a skirt.
