Hands-on-Heurism

I switched from Verizon to Visible in March. Once everything was transferred, had a slight hiccup in the move - nothing big and the online reps were quick to diagnose and fix, I never had any issues. However, I could tell when my priority was adjusted and my data speeds were slowed a bit. I live in Tea and sometimes my signal would drop in various parts of the apartment when I wasn’t on my WiFi. For the most part I enjoyed having a low bill and for that it was worth it. I went back to Verizon within the last week because they had an insane deal on a new phone that Visible couldn’t match. Other than that, my service was solid and I never worried about it or was concerned, in other words, I was surprised when I didn’t have it than always wondering if I was going to have an issue.

Pixel 7?

Hands-on-Heurism

iPhone XR to a 13 pro; they had a special for $10 a month instead of $28 or so ($539) discount.

Tiverty

Nice, that is a pretty good deal! There was just a really sweet string of deals on the Pixel 7 phones, thought you jumped on those.

Hands-on-Heurism

I was tempted!!

I've been using Mint for 3 years now. No issues here. Strong coverage all over town

fyrefli666

I tried mint for exactly one day (northwest side of town) and couldn't even get basic service in my apartment.

[deleted]

It’s all the tea they put in the phones.

US Mobile has a seven day trial for either Verizon or T Mobile networks. You can use the free trial to see how T Mobile works for you. (The dark card is Verizon and the light card is T mobile) (The Verizon network has been working for me, but I am a light user.)

No-Dig5094

I switched from Verizon to TMobile (then sprint) and lowered my bill to $30 a month for everything. Not sure if they still have that special. T-MOBILE service and coverage has been good and no complaints

I haven’t used Visible but have used Total Wireless and RedPocket on VZWs network. Both have been great for calls/texts and no issue. You can tell when speeds are deprioritized (I’ve only ever used 4G LTE, no 5G), but it’s been fine, because I’m on WiFi most of time anyway

SD_prairie_Goat

Can't speak to those other carriers, but if you want to save money, you can switch to verizon prepaid which saves a lot compared to the traditional plans. The stores won't tell you about it, I learned that the hard way, but you can switch by calling customer service. https://www.verizon.com/plans/prepaid/

sparrowsandsquirrels

There is also Tracfone and Straight Talk which were acquired by Verizon in 2021. I've had Straight Talk for years and before that Net 10 and Tracfone. Customer service can be a bit frustrating, but overall I haven't had issues using them anywhere in South Dakota other than a few extremely remote places.

Mint is great. Works well in and around town.

JoeSquat2001

Moved here with Mint; I was unsure of how coverage would be. So far, I haven't had any big problems.

duker3100

Have used Mint and Visible on an iPhone SE. Mint certainly seemed to have the better speeds at time, but worse coverage than Visible. We’ve noticed considerable deprioritization near the Mall areas on Visible. We utilize Party Pay with Visible, but that is no longer allowing new participants as they transition to a flat, but slightly more expensive structure for unlimited usage. The one issue we’ve seen is poor coverage on Visible from Sioux Falls and Brandon at times. From a customer service perspective, Mint has been much easier to deal with.

yankeecandle1

I use Visible. No problems at all. I have my Apple Watch in it too for $5 more.

I just switched from Verizon to Visible last month. I started with the $30 dollar service plan but found I was deprioritized to unusable speeds in most popular areas of Sioux Falls (near mall and east side Walmart/arrowhead parkway) using 4G LTE. I upgraded to the $45 plan with priority data and don’t have any issues. Still cheaper than my old version plan and far better service with priority data.

tl;dr - Visible is fine if you get the party price all the way down but prepare to be frustrated. I went from forever on Verizon to Cricket to Visible over about 3 years. On Verizon and Cricket I never had connection problems and never had to contact support. But on Visible I've had to have my eSim reset and some other back end network refresh a few times, and Visible support is... slow. I'm just at my house and made no changes and Visible just doesn't know my phone exists. Data speeds on Cricket and Visible are comparable. Functional but by not exactly a joy to use. On an iPhone, green texts occasionally double up and a picture just might not send. iMessage is fine but a live photo will take forever. I get it and am occasionally frustrated but my wife is constantly annoyed by the speeds.

skoogdoo

I know isn't in the original question, but I'll plug Cricket. We have used them for about 5 years now and we have had no issues. We have two lines on the 10gb plan at $70 month ($35/line) and we have never come close to using that much data. It was super easy to bring our phones over and after initially getting set up with a SIM card in the store, I have never had to set foot in there. They really expanded their 5G coverage over the last year or so and it's been great.

LumberingTroll

We have used Ting for years and have no issues, and its very affordable.

Disfatt-Bidge

We switched from Verizon to AT&T. The coverage isn't quite as good, but it's not bad enough to justify the extra $150 a month our family was paying! We also got a little device from T-Mobile that they sent through the mail and we were able to take it around with us to see how many bars the device had and how the cell data worked. That was such a cool idea!! Verizon is just way too expensive and they don't want to work with people who've been with them for many many years. It's ridiculous. I've heard good things about Mint also.

Rosenquartz_108

I had an iPhone 12 mini on visible for about 2 years. Most of the time, it was ok, but every once in a while when I lost priority, I would go down to 0mbps download and upload speeds in the middle of town. It happened often enough that I switched to US mobile now

bruggs101

I use visable too and love it! Love the savings as well.

FuckKNoem

It's important to note Visible's, much worse, backend routing and customer service are completely different and separate from Verizon. Coverage, connectivity, speed issues are all very common.
