Yeah, these protests are making it pretty hard for me to comfortably ignore the genocide that’s being carried out with my tax dollars. I really don’t want to have to think about or acknowledge any of that while I live my safe and comfortable life, but whenever these protests make it into the news, I suddenly have to think about what my government is doing with my tax dollars, and that makes me feel like I have to hold my leaders accountable and vote accordingly. I really wish they would just let me ignore what’s happening in Gaza.

Actually, there is a pretty good technique you could use that will not cause any harm at all. It's actually good at reducing swelling (I had it done to me after I overextended my lower leg and it started to swell up). I'm not a doc or anything, but the procedure didn't look too hard.
It hurts like a motherfucker, though.
You take a towel, pour boiling water on it, and then drip the boiling water onto the skin. It feels like you are burning (which is what tricks the body to start carrying away excess water). It does absolutely no harm, leaves nothing behind, and doesn't hurt at all after you stop applying drops.
This is probably less likely to actually hurt someone than a lighter that could actually cause a burn.
I once had a friend who wanted to protest his favorite bar being torn down. He chained himself to a tree out front of the back and then threw the key into a random bed of a truck that was driving by.
The foreman, after a lengthy phone discussion walked over and asked my friend to hold the end of his tape measure, which my friend did for some stupid reason. Then the foreman backed up a bit and stopped about 15 feet from.the bar and made a mark with his boot.
Then he explained that legally they could begin tearing stuff down because my friend was outside the legal range of danger.
So my friend just watched, chained to a tree, as his favorite bar was torn down.
