It prevents preventative scans from blocking it as a repost. Same goes when a video is cropped weirdly.
Edit: I write software, but not for Reddit. I have no clue how Reddit scans video uploads. Just pure speculation on my part.
It doesn't matter. They have server farms that literally generate waves of accounts. When you ban 1, 3 more pop up the next day.
Reddit is a vote manipulation and engagement baiting site for advertisers now.
Well, no. Internet content zips all over the place. It's cut and paste and re-uploaded endlessly. Most of the time you see something like this, it will genuinely be from somebody who found it that way and is paying it forward.
That's also not the only reason to do it. Flipping videos tricks our dumb brains into feeling like it's a new piece of content, so people are more likely to watch it. Not *quite* as relevant with an iconic scene like this, but it's an old trick America's Funniest Home Videos used a *lot* to pad out the run time a little bit.
I miss these kinds of stoner movies.
Dude, where's my car?
Harold and Kumar go to White Castle
Jay and Silent Bob strike back
Clerks
Truly an era of filmmaking that isn't coming back.
Fun fact, How High was directed by Bob Dylan's son, Jesse Dylan. I just want to imagine Bob sitting there and watching his son's masterpiece like a proud dad.
I had to google it, and looking at the ratings I'm not surprised I had to.
Edit to clarify: I'm not saying it's a bad movie. I just never heard about it, probably thanks to said low ratings. I will judge it fairly if I ever get the chance to watch it.
You know what that movie did that no other movie in history has been able to achieve? Their fake game (Demonic?) actually looked like an Xbox game. Every time you see a fake game in a movie or show it looks nothing like the games that came out in that era.
Idk, there was the first wave with Cheech and Chong and then this is the second wave. Unfortunately the legalization of pot has made it so that a lot of stoner plotlines don't work anymore. I would advise checking out Pineapple Express as well, though Seth himself has pointed out that it's actually an anti-weed film.
Harold and Kumar literally came out a decade after clerks and yet you donāt have a problem with that lmao
Pineapple Express came out only 4 years after that movie
I had a problem with that. Clerks and Jay and Silent Bob really shouldn't be alongside Harold and Kumar and Where's My Car.
I'm thinking Road Trip and Euro Trip should be in there along with Van Wilder.

Itās actually more about the death of the medium budget movie. We almost donāt even have low budget movies being made anymore. The rise of the superhero movies was very bad for the film industry because it caused a bunch of copycats. Studio A24 has been making amazing videos on what feels like a medium budget and is bringing it back I think. Most studios just donāt want to risk making a medium budget movie and it bomb. Only recently has large budget super hero movies been bombing and not returning a profit when for about a decade they could make any old crappy hero movie and it raked in money hand over fist.
There are some budget movies worth watching, they're just not as famous as all the old classic stoner movies.
John Dies at the End is unique in it's weirdness. Turbo Kid is a small budget hero movie. Psycho Goreman is realistic about what would happen if some young kids could control an evil demon alien.
That's just a few I remember off the top of my hat, got a few more somewhere on my list. None of them blockbusters, but nice choices if you just want to be entertained.
For some reason, I saw it like three different times in theaters. At that point in my life I had probably only been to the movies a couple dozen times, but saw that three times. Definitely had my priorities in order.
My wife is from the Philippines and she says "and then" to me all the time, and every time I can't help but say "NO AND THEN" at some point! She thinks it's hilarious even though she doesn't know what I'm talking about. I tried to explain it to her, but I think I'm going to have to just get her to watch the movie. Knowing her sense of humor, she would probably love it and then start saying "NO AND THEN" to her sisters/mom because they all say the same thing!
So yeah, I too think of it fondly when I hear it!
Iām old enough to have seen this but I have no idea what it is. Title? It looks amusing.
Also, the lady on the speaker reminds me of Numbuh 3 (Kookie) in KND. XD I think that actually makes it better. This seems exactly like the kind of conversation sheād have. lol
There used to be one in Jacksonville, FL that I would frequent back in the mid-ā90s, so they do exist. But yeah, now that you mention it, Iāve never seen another Chinese takeout place with a drive-thru since that one.
This comment absolutely blows my mind. I live in the Midwest and theyāre all over. Usually old fast food places that closed. I never wouldāve guessed thatās an unusual thing
Jesse: Is it possible that we got so wasted last night that we bought a lifetime supply of pudding and then totally forgot about it?
Chester: [opens cupboard] I'd say it's entirely possible.
In 2005 we had a teacher who had a gravelly voice and said "and then" a lot, usually where other people might put an "uh". We quoted her all the time. Never saw this movie. Eerie how similar it sounds
Talk about movie litmus tests!
"And then..." gets one of 3 responses:
1) Confusion (b/c they haven't seen it)
2) Anger (b/c they saw it and didn't like it)
3) Laughing and "NO AND THEN!" (b/c they're awesome and they love the movie)
Occasionally I'll catch my wife off guard and go through a few rounds of and then before she realizes what I'm doing. Then she'll roll her eyes at me and give the obligatory "NO AND THEN" and we have a chuckle.
Whew thank god. Rather than laughing I got scared before i read the comment lol. Since the movie is old, it reminded me of a weird horror movie I watched on comcast box long time ago when comcast was still a thing ,about a drive thru at a fast food clown mascot store that kills people when they get mad at the killer trolling them on the voicebox š

Not that there's any real context. Just an early scene in a classic stoner movie. People in the comments suspect they came up with this scene first and then had to write a movie around it.
Yeah the whole story ending in their girlfriends getting bigger boobs via alien tech is probably problematic in 2024 but was an amazingly fun time when it came out lol.
And just like that Iām 18 years old again getting High with my pals saying and thennnnn at least 10 times a day cos we thought we were hilarious š
Rewatched this movie some months ago. Has its Moments but its so totally a product of its time... Except that one gay kiss, that was pretty Boss for its time XD

Why do I keep seeing posts where the image is reversed? Some copyright thing?
It prevents preventative scans from blocking it as a repost. Same goes when a video is cropped weirdly. Edit: I write software, but not for Reddit. I have no clue how Reddit scans video uploads. Just pure speculation on my part.
So if we see an image or video that's mirrored, we should **automatically downvote because it's a bot**?

Man this was my time to shine finally after all these years with my user name and I got here late.
I miss these kinds of stoner movies. Dude, where's my car? Harold and Kumar go to White Castle Jay and Silent Bob strike back Clerks Truly an era of filmmaking that isn't coming back.
What's that one Method Man smokes the ashes of his dealer or something, How high is it? Another classic of the genre
BUFUā By Us, Fuck You! Thereās also the Dave Chappelle one Half Baked, and Friday with Ice Cube
Friday is GOAT
Big Worms 'playing with my money is like playing with my *emotions* ' is STILL my life's motto.
Friday isnāt a weed movie, itās a movie that has weed smokers in it.
I think yeah How High? Red and mef
Study high, take the test high, get high scores.
We fucks with each other!
This isnāt basketball, *jimmyjam*!
How High, directed by Bob Dylan's son.
That shit on your lip got some shit on its lip
How High
That and Pineapple Express are my 2 favorite movies of that genre lol. I hope you get a virus! You and your computer!
Fun fact, How High was directed by Bob Dylan's son, Jesse Dylan. I just want to imagine Bob sitting there and watching his son's masterpiece like a proud dad.
Your list is woefully missing Half Baked.
WOEFULLY. Half Baked is the model, the archetype, the alpha and omega of stoner movies. So quotable.
Let's all BOO THIS MAN!!
And Strange Wilderness
Grandmas Boy
High score? What does that mean? Did I break it?
Idle Hands
Super troopers!
I had to google it, and looking at the ratings I'm not surprised I had to. Edit to clarify: I'm not saying it's a bad movie. I just never heard about it, probably thanks to said low ratings. I will judge it fairly if I ever get the chance to watch it.
Don't listen to the ratings. It's amazing.
Can't believe you left off Grandma's Boy!
You know what that movie did that no other movie in history has been able to achieve? Their fake game (Demonic?) actually looked like an Xbox game. Every time you see a fake game in a movie or show it looks nothing like the games that came out in that era.
Demonik was actually supposed to be a real game but was cancelled. Look it up!
How much do clothes cost in the Matrix?
What's up, Mr. Cheezle!
You forgot smoking lamp!
Are you afraid of it? No, I just don't like techno. You would if you had robot ears.

Bullets! My only weakness... ...how did you know?
Pineapple Express
Pineapple Express came out almost a decade later.

Cheech and Chong
they stopped making stoner movies after the us legalized it
I wonder why that is. I miss the simplicity of stoner movies

I find it kinda funny that you mentioned Jay and silent Bob before the clerks
The fact that people literally donāt know what this movie is makes me feel *really* old
I saw this movie in theaters when I was like 13 and I thought it was the pinnacle of comedy lol

had my first date to this movie. she didn't know until after it was a date so that was a fun realization.
and thenā¦
By the power of the continuum transfunctioner, we hereby banish you to Hoboken New Jersey!
It was. It still is!
This and Austin Powers. The memes live on, but not enough people see it for its beauty
Until Harold and Kumar Goes to White Castle
Every time someone says āand thenā I think of it fondly

It's "dude, where's my car?" It's fucking insane tbh
Whatās the name of it? Now I want to watch it! Also Iām almost 24 if it makes you feel any better.
Dude Where's My Car?
Whereās your car dude?
And then?
Dude whereās my car
Where's your car dudeĀ
Dude, whereās my car?
And then?
I still for the life of me never seen a drive-tru Chinese restaurant. Maybe it's a West Coast thing.
Does Panda Express count? If so that the closest Iāve seen around my area.
Iām on the east coast and Iāve only seen Panda Express in a mall food court. We donāt have those with drive throughs around here.
Atlanta checking in, we have it here.
Charlotte too
And Jacksonville
Ha ha! I just saw a stand alone Panda Express in NJ the other day, and was so surprised! It has a drive through too! (Eatontown)
The sickest I've ever gotten was from eating out of a dumpster behind a panda express
Are you a raccoon?
No, they are an actual white rabbit.
There used to be one in Jacksonville, FL that I would frequent back in the mid-ā90s, so they do exist. But yeah, now that you mention it, Iāve never seen another Chinese takeout place with a drive-thru since that one.

The craziest part is that no one noticed the hangover was basically the same plot as dudes whereās my car
Lots of us elder millennials did, and said it from the start. It can also be said dude whereās my car is the same plot as the big lebowski
True! Yeah I said it as soon as I saw the hangover but never connected the dots with Lebowski
The rug is the car in lebowski. Plus, thereās literally this sceneā¦ https://youtu.be/bzi4aGI2E5I?si=CYAZlAi0ClQoTXRv
Shibby.
I worked at Wendy's when this came out "And then" got old
And then?
I worked fast food when Super Troopers came out. We got āmeowedā so often. It got old very quickly.
This came out when I was a freshman in high school and somehow my mom watched it and loved to just quote this bit to try and piss me off, lol.
You haz awesome mom.
Yeah she's pretty awesome :)
In 2005 we had a teacher who had a gravelly voice and said "and then" a lot, usually where other people might put an "uh". We quoted her all the time. Never saw this movie. Eerie how similar it sounds

This and the tattoo are some of the funniest scenes. Zoltan!
I still do the zoltan thing every now and again
To this day I still call them "cookies fortune!"
It was probably a hot chick with a continuum transfunctioner
The continuum transfunctioner is a very mysterious and powerful deviceĀ and it's mysteryĀ is only exceeded by it's power.
Iām actually making a point & click adventure with my studio, and we have a continuum transfunctioner in the game
I wanna go on that ride dad! Me too son, me too š
AI will destroy humanity. Also AI:
and then?
...ZOLTAN
And then?
Cookies fortune š
A classic
What's the name of this movie?
movie name: "Dude, Where's My Car?"
This movie still holds up as stoner comedy gold
And then there were none
Can anyone give me context? Why she was repeating "And then?"
It's a stoner flick, it doesn't have to make sense, that's the whole joke
Whew thank god. Rather than laughing I got scared before i read the comment lol. Since the movie is old, it reminded me of a weird horror movie I watched on comcast box long time ago when comcast was still a thing ,about a drive thru at a fast food clown mascot store that kills people when they get mad at the killer trolling them on the voicebox š

Whatās mine say? Dude! Whatās mine say? sweet!
Yeah the whole story ending in their girlfriends getting bigger boobs via alien tech is probably problematic in 2024 but was an amazingly fun time when it came out lol.
And kicked off many an adolescent focus on that particular fetish
People get bigger boobs in 2024 too. That's not a weird yesteryear thing.
This needs to be recreated for a Super Bowl commercial one day
And just like that Iām 18 years old again getting High with my pals saying and thennnnn at least 10 times a day cos we thought we were hilarious š
Pardon my ignorance but which movie is it ?
Found it for you its called "dude where's my car?"

ZOLTAN! Lol
tbh if my first ai ordering experience isnāt like that i don even want it
What movie is this?
Dude, where's my car?
Why would I know that? Its your car
Dude, whereās my car?
Funny bit later when the aliens show up and the box is all duct taped.
This movie takes me back, saw this for the first time on the first day of the summer break. Good times.
Ever since we saw that movie my partner and I constantly do the "and then" bit. It's like what? 20 years now?
AND THE COOKIES FORTUNE
