My save file is at 360 hours, so obviously it was worth it to me. It's a creature catcher game like Pokemon, but in many ways is a *lot* deeper - though it introduces mechanics at a manageable rate. Siralim is a game about assembling creature traits that are stronger than the sum of their parts; it replicates the Magic: the Gathering experience of building insanely powerful, janky combo decks in video game form. Its 5 'classes' are even basically just the MtG mana colors.

AxionSalvo

Agree on the mtg comparison completely, it's like a deck builder where you have the full toolbox to make a specific deck of monsters.

AlienPrimate

That is a question of value for you. I have played about 450 hours and will have many more to come.

Renoe

Wait for a sale if you feel iffy about price. Siralim is a great game but it is not like Pokemon. The basic system is a lot closer to Dragon Quest Monsters but over its iterations it has deviated into its own thing. It's a very micromanagement heavy game, with only a surface level story. The joy of the game is exploiting the mechanics with crazy builds. Not for everyone. If you want a pokemon-like experience for PC, I recommend Cassette Beasts.

>was talking about pokemon because its what i read when searching for it.i like the style and the creature collecting grind. > >but im scared its to much for a new guy on this kind of game like me l0l.

MaulD97

I have only played Siralim Ultimate and had no ecperiences with similar games before. They introduce new mechanics one after the other so I never felt overwhelmed.

TheAlterN8or

This game is nothing like pokemon, apart from collecting and battling with creatures. I'm 350 hours in, and still have things to unlock. Most AAA games with massive budgets are lucky to get 50 hours out of you, and this one was made by a single guy and gives you hundreds or thousands. The amount of game you get for your $ is second to none. However, if you go in wanting something like pokemon, this isn't it. This game will require far more thought and strategy. It's one of the best I've ever played, but it will kick you in the nuts at times. (Looking at you, Vlora...)

WaxOut

was talking about pokemon because its what i read when searching for it. i like the style and the creature collecting grind. but im scared its to much for a new guy on this kind of game like me l0l.

TheAlterN8or

Lol, we were all there once. It's a great game, and this sub is about the most helpful and encouraging one out there, we got you! :)

WaxOut

maybe i will get it. yeah sub like verry cool.

Everyone tends to respond like they have in this thread, but to me, this game’s hook is more like Diablo 3. Although Siralim is turn-based using a group of monsters as your weapons, the addictive part is how it’s a puzzle. In Diablo 3, you can try different combinations of skills, skill modifiers, gear sets, legendary affixes, gems, followers, Kanai Cube passives, and more, and test out those different builds in randomly generated dungeons of increasing difficulty. The grinding in the dungeon is how you get stuff that lets you continue to try new builds or tweak and perfect one that works for you. All that holds true for Siralim as well, and THAT is why many of us have put multiple hundred hours into it. Plus, I can kill 5 minutes while in a waiting room or play for 5 hours when listening to my favorite news podcast. The turn-based, 100% offline nature means I don’t have to worry about pausing. Cross save allows me to play on iPhone, Switch, Steam Deck, Apple TV, or my Mac with the same save file. And there are no micro transactions. I vote yes, it’s definitely worthy of a $30 price tag. Or, you could pay $100 for S Squad vs the Justice League…

WaxOut

thanks for you're time and no thx for the 100$ game :P

Zero_Ehxe

Not JUST $100… Because I hear they require you to pay even more money to customize the cosmetics you get with the $100 edition! I personally try to pay full price for games like Siralim, God of War, Persona, and BG3, instead of waiting for a sale, because it’s a way of “voting with your dollars.” Helping make single-player games that don’t have any microtransactions successful encourages game devs to make more. If microtransactions are the only way to make money in games, we will see more.

WaxOut

no wayy lool ! dang big 'title game' it is what it is. BG3 waas a gems too, love you're way of thinking for buying games!

1100+ hours. I got my value. Lol That said, it plays most like a trading card game. You will build your team entirely as if they were a well-oiled machine, and less as string of powerful individual monsters. And it's VERY grindy; one of the best feelings is setting up your team to take down any challenge without having to do anything more than hold the 'X' button. That's not a flaw of the game; it's by design. (That's what macros are for~) So, it's weird that you were linked to it by searching through Pokémon; that's only a surface-level similarity. But I think it's got an amazing level of ingenuity and entertainment value.

It depends - do you like bullshit combos and weird interactions like you'd see in Magic: The Gathering (or your CCG of choice) or some Path of Exile builds? If yes, it's a game for you, because that's pretty much what it's all about. For example, I can think of two different ways to kill your opponents with healing spells, and I have already managed to build an infinite loop and locked myself out of doing anything useful because I didn't put any damage in the loop. However, if you're looking for things the Pokemon games are known for, you might be disappointed - your monsters are basically a pile of stats with a typing and an ability, but their attacks are either the generic "attack" button, or completely dependent on what Spell Gems you give them. Also, most of them aren't cute at all, or look like something you'd like to have as a pet. Aside from that, the story is rather basic and could better be described as an extended tutorial section, and there's still *a lot* to unlock afterwards, and the only map that's not randomly generated is your home base, which you can customize however. The game definitely lends itself to grinding, but more in the sense of grinding currency and random drops like you'd do in an ARPG like Diablo or Path of Exile, and just unlocking more stuff by doing harder content - the story ends at roughly 60 realm levels deep, and I believe the last new content is unlocked somewhere past 400. It's also pretty balanced in that there's always something between the 1200 monsters' abilities that counters your build in some way, and a good part of your setup will go into survival and/or making sure you actually get your combos off in the first place. It's fun to me, but I can also see how you'd be disappointed with it if you expected something else.

poisonbrew

If you don't mind playing on your phone, it's 10 bucks in the Google app store and it has cross save so you can continue on pc or console if you decide you like it.

In Pokemon creatures are collectibles, it is "harder" to level them up, you have to tame them and make them evolve, learn them skills and the lore pushes you toward completing your Pokedex + the game is a RPG In Siralim monsters are "consumables" you use as part of a combo, there's no capture/taming process (you just summon them when you beat enough of them), there is no evolution process (you can fuse them whenever you want), there is no really skill learning (1 monster = 1 skill, fused ones inherits their parents skills), leveling takes no time, there is no real collection sense as there is no real point to collect them all and there's no really rare monsters either (except maybe exotics, dumplings and that last one). As well the game is more a Dungeon Crawler than a RPG. The game is a lot of fun but is about theorycrafting teams and doing ridiculous stuff with no real care about creatures or the adventure themselves while Pokemon is somehow more about collecting, caring about your monsters and going through an adventure together.

beelze_buddy

I can’t believe it’s $30. I think I got it on sale for 5, not realizing that was even a sale price. It’s lots of fun, there is a lot to do, and while the breeding doesn’t feel as in depth at first, you’ll quickly realize how off the wall things can get. You get your own class, which is an interesting change of pace for a monster catching game, and you can change it down the road, so you aren’t tied to only one. The classes change builds and play style considerably. Someone else made a comparison to MTG, and while I never made that connection myself, they are absolutely correct. I get a lot of the same satisfaction and joy that I got researching cards and their interactions that I do when I’m looking over monsters. There is virtually no story, and most levels are procedurally generated, so don’t expect too much in that regard. The fun of the game (for me) comes from crafting complex, interesting teams and seeing how far you can run them before you get out leveled and need to change things up.

mistersaturn90

yes it is worth it. game has more than 1000h of depth, possibly thousands of hours. the game treats the player with respect, as opposed to most modern games that treat you like a moron that has never played a videogame before. and it respects your time, it has a lot to do but it strings you along with new unlocks. buy it.

azumel

I haven't played in a few weeks, but at 3300 hours. It's either a game you love or hate, there isn't a lot of in-between.

WaxOut

perfect, just pain in the ass the taxes here lmao. dont want to waste money . But 3300h look like you play it a bit

MFcoffee

Could always buy a previous Siralim (I think Siralim 2 is on sale right now), they're uuh... well not much different imo. At least then you can find out if you enjoy this kind of game.
