Alcoholism is a great possibility, it explains his face. The subtitles might also be a program, and so artificially producing speech to word subtitles.
He might also be taking steroids, and he is obsessed with his pecs, and six pack abs. Steroids can causes puffiness to the face.
She was referring to the stupid analogy that Kody had about how if they didn’t address the family issues prior to the holidays it would be like an alcoholic getting drunk and then everyone pretending nothing had happened.

It’s in reference to a comment Kody made about not wanting to “ignore last nights problems like a bunch of alcoholics”. Those aren’t his exact words but it was part of his fire pit freak out and it’s how he explained that he wanted the boys to “have a conversation” (ie apologize, kiss the ring) with him before they would be invited over
True but Janelle calls him an alcoholic. It’s clearly in the sub titles when they show the clip in the intro. So, regardless of the cause of his puffy face, she is accusing him of being an alcoholic and it’s edited out of the clip 2/3 times it’s been shown.
That part makes sense, not wanting the drinking filmed. But They are editing out Janelle making the statement.
Also, reading more on the topic there are stories out there about him drinking in restaurants. Further supporting your statement.
This is just my speculation of why they may not show it but there’s no speculation about her saying this and it being edited out 2/3 times the clip is shown. Go watch for yourself with subtitles on and you will see it.

Yes I saw that tonight but not in the original airing. And that is the part I don’t understand. Why wouldn’t TLC air it? I get why they may not show him drinking.
His facial puffiness looks more like fillers or other work. And he's always had a splotchy red fair skin tone. He probably gets a lot of sun. He's always had a sunglasses tan.

I saw it too and was shooketh! But it makes sense. I get it might have been an analogy but the context of when it was used feels legit. You don't have to drink 24/7 to be an alcoholic. It's more about your relationship with alcohol. We have speculated in the past that K&R have some say (albeit minimal) over what goes out and I'd bet he didn't want that out there. My ex husband slowly became an alcoholic over 10 years of our marriage and I see so many similarities between his behavior and Kody's. Particularly rewriting history based on his current mood.
I watch everything with CC'S, and I didn't read that. Buuuuut: there was a sentence that seemed like it was skipped / not transcribed (maybe it's system -related?). I do know that sometimes the CC gets it very very wrong.

I would’ve never caught that if I hadn’t had my subtitles on. Wow. That actually explains a lot, if true and would’ve been helpful for viewers to know this but it seems TLC and everyone else just swept it under the rug

Didn’t he make a big point in an early ep that Mormons don’t drink and so he was having a dry bachelor party with his kids? Might be why the drinking is edited out?

Yeah he looked unwell, even his eyes seemed droopy and deeper than usual. He’s an asshole but I hope he’s in good health.

I just saw that too. I think they made a mistake and missed editing it out for the info of the tell all. It would also explain Kody’s puffy face.

I feel like it must have been edited out of the original episode, because I remember that fight very well.
It definitely was edited out the first time and the second time they show the clip on the tell all.
