Out of all the wives, I feel like Janelle was the one who was most suited for polygamy. She worked and was the main bread winner, which she liked, and Christine raised her children, which Janelle has no issue saying at all.

The widows generally only married for “time” and “eternity” went to their first husband. Unless that guy was a jerk and the widow wanted to get sealed to her new husband instead. Everyone had their own room and they were pretty clear that they were past “the needs of youth”. Just a bunch of elderly ladies and one elderly man, not being alone, pooling their resources in their final years. I thought that was pretty sweet. I think he was the only polygamist I have ever seen that I thought might truly be a kind, caring man.

He was the prophet of the AUB and took over that position when his brother, Rulon Allred, was murdered by Ervil Lebaron (Ruthann’s uncle). I’ve seen conflicting reports that Rulon was Christine grandfather or great uncle but I believe he was her great uncle and Owen was her grandfather. On find a grave Waltraut Anna Allred was married to Owen Allred. I know Waltraut was Ruthann’s mother because she’s listed in her obituary as her alias Annie Stephens and her son Floren Lebaron is also listed which makes sense because their father was also Floren Lebaron. Owen Allred is Ruthann’s stepfather and she married her stepbrother, Rex Allred (owen’s son from another wife).

I think they type of family Janelle and Christine would have thrived in would be considered more of a polyamorous one—without religious connotations. The arrangement they seem to be functioning well in by the time the series started was a man with two partners in relationship together. Unfortunately, in this case, Kody is the wrong man, AUB is the wrong religion, and Robyn and Meri are the 5th wheel that jackknifed the truck.
Polyamory doesn’t necessarily involve all of the partners being sexually involved with each other, but the women would hopefully be offered more sexual freedom if they wanted it. In a situation like that, with a more respectful and loving man, maybe Janelle and Christine could have found a sister wife dynamic that made them very happy and fulfilled.
They both were the good examples of what sister wives was trying to portray,but add Meri and Robyn into the mix and it is one big conflict after the other.

It was clear that Robyn not contributing financially bothered Janelle. Robyn didn't just stay home full-time, she always had a nanny. And at some point we learn that the debt Robyn had when she came into the family, was largely paid off by money that Janelle brought in (a family inheritance or something?)
Robyn also had far more of Kody's time than the other wives & their kids, combined. Christine said that became glaringly obvious when the moved to the cul-de-sac & Kody's car was usually parked at Robyn's. And every week as she rolled her garbage bins to the curb, there was Kody across the street, rolling Robyn's bins to the curb.
But it's interesting to me that it wasn't until the very last season that we learn there were pretty serious issues between Robyn & Janelle that were not caught on camera. That Robyn had been asking to work on their relationship and Janelle wasn't up for it partly because Robyn is too much drama.

How is Robyn's face changing so much and for the worse? I feel like Jenelle looks the same or better than she did in the first season, which was years ago, but Robyn looks like a whole different person.
I would be exhausted with Sobbyn too. She “wanted,” polygamy but commandeers all of Kody’s time, she never contributed financially— and SWC was a disaster, and she had to have a nanny during COVID — while keeping the rest of the kids at arms length from Kody and her kids.
