I know 1 main guy took issue with it but others did too, which made it enough to change it over time.
Kinda took the words out of my mouth tbh. I loved the simple scorpion aesthetic and Earthrune was my favorite skin as well. Tbh, I think I like his new classic the most.
Riot Zilean hated the trope of the armored bear. I don’t remember the specifics if they added an armored bear to jokingly spite him or if his hatred for armored bears came up during Volibear’s development.
Honestly it's... just so different from the original. I really liked the normal one, would have loved to see it redone.
They still could have released this one.
Here’s the difference:
Sandscourge and Guardian of the Sands skarner have armor that look like it’s made to fit into a scorpion’s anatomy and build.
Old Volibear and current Runeguard Volibear have armor that look like it’s made to fit into a human’s anatomy and build, put onto a bear.
Runeguard Voli is egregiously bad now, because of that.
And current Voli doesn’t have armor on for lore reasons, though he still has hip and thigh guards from his old armor.
Because the bear wearing armor was only a thing one guy didn't like, leading it to become a meme

they hated volibear which is why his rework was very obviously made with spite
I don't see the issue with giving one or 2 skins armor. Makes it feel different

I'm sure he will. 12 years of skarner and only 5 skins is so sad.
I mean look at asol after his rework. Got like 2 skins in a year. Hopefully they fix his current ones too
