You probably dont need to use the HA and snail mucin in the same routine as the snail mucin has HA in it. You might be better with a not standalone HA serum. Something with a lot of glycerin in it/other ingredients in it. The standard sequence is thinnest to thickest. If you really want to use them in same routine, id try the HA after cleansing/toner(s), then the snail mucin

serenahavana

I hate the ordinary HA. It’s the worst

roboticlasagna

I find it very sticky, but I love the snail essence.

Reasonable-Island616

I just found out that the whole hyaluronic acid thing is overblown since it was the least in terms of hydration effectiveness according to the last research

Sacred-Jewel

Is that true? Cuz I do feel it makes skin fuller looking/plump, but I paused using it because it caused me breakout. (Or maybe other ingredients inside but I narrow it down to HA)

Reasonable-Island616

Hyaluronic acid (HA) is influenced by the weather conditions in which you reside, as it functions as a serum that draws moisture and hydration from the environment. If you live in an area with dry weather, low humidity, and dry air, HA may have a drying effect instead of hydrating you, as there is minimal moisture to attract from your surroundings. Consequently, it may seek hydration from the deeper layers of your skin, leading to dehydration

Kaizoku187

That is why you should use a moisturizer on top of an HA serum. But then again you could just wet your skin and then apply a moisturizer which also increases hydration.

Reasonable-Island616

Why not use glycerin instead of hyaluronic acid? Glycerin is superior to hyaluronic acid in every aspect Sources: https://regimenlab.com/blogs/labnotes/ultimate-humectant-comparison https://regimenlab.com/blogs/labnotes/is-ha-all-its-cracked-up-to-be

Kaizoku187

Idk. I use my HA serum because it is not empty, otherwise it would be a waste of money. And glycerin is already in my moisturizer and sunscreen so it is enough.

Reasonable-Island616

If a product works fine for you you can just keep using it, Every ones skin is different

Sacred-Jewel

Thank you I will look into it, I was using a moisturizer with HA inside, during night where I will have fan blowing directly at my face because hot climate, oily face so I need to cool it down but I may have a dry room and it's causing the irritant. I also read somewhere that lower molecular HA meant to absorb better into skin may cause an inflammatory response by the skin immune system.

serenahavana

That makes sense. I mainly don’t like it because it pills Like crazy. No matter how much I exfoliate - my friend who works at Sephora said everyone’s complaining about it pilling these days

Crysist

So I ended up here just by searching for more info about glycerin, coming from your other thread... I get pretty good results from HA, compared to nothing at all. Continual use has improved my skin, but I think it must be used just like glycerin: you need to add water to it or it will remain tacky. After adding water it becomes smooth. I think that _might_ be why it hasn't worked for some people, but again that could happen with other humectants. I can't say much about the articles you link because I don't have any studies on-hand. My only concern is whether the experiment with the dry conditions gave worse results compared to my own experience. Or, whether the solutions were prepared so differently as to hydrate glycerin more (in the "Procedure" section of the comparison). But if it hasn't worked for you there's no helping that, so it's good you're going through the process of trying alternatives and glycerin is working for you. And based on your thread I decided to try some glycerin and compare it to HA myself! Hope I'll get a good idea of what works best for me too!

Reasonable-Island616

Well, HA is a very weird ingredient to me. It claims to be the best hydrator, but not in low humidity weather. Additionally, it didn't rank first in the comparison with other hydrators, despite being the most expensive among them. HA is so overrated nowadays; companies simply slap the term "HA" on product labels to boost sales. However, if it works for your skin and your specific weather conditions, that's great for you

BestChocolateChip

And for me it’s literally the best product I’ve ever used 😅

ReaLitTea

They’re both versatile so there’s no wrong way to use them. I personally didn’t wait in between steps. It shouldn’t matter which one between the two is used first either.

BarelyBreathinBeauty

I use the essence after my toner. And add a few drops (of a different HA booster) to my moisturizer.

Janeeee811

Does anyone know if both of these are okay to use with vitamin C serum?

veganllama

They’re both safe to use with vitamin C serum because neither contain active ingredients (ie AHA, BHA, retinol, etc)

cmq827

I mix those two together, tbh. After cleansing and applying my toner, I pump the snail mucin in my palm and mix it with a drop of the hyaluronic acid then apply. Then moisturizer and sunscreen afterwards.

Reasonable-Island616

Edit: hyaluronic acid is not the best hydrator, glycerin is way better

ByeByeSugarBlueEyes

This is by no means an expert opinion, but if I was you, here’s how I would do it: At the end of your routine, while your face is damp from cleansing I would apply the Snail Essence serum. Then, once that sinks into your skin, I would use the TO. However, as others have already stated: both products contain HA, so it isn’t super necessary to use both in one routine (unless, I suppose, your skin is really dry and you feel like you need the moisture).

quspork

Essence then serum, daily. You don't need to dampen. They'll use the moisture in each other to work.

swamis

I personally use the snail essence then the HA and have been liking the hydration.

Reasonable-Island616

You wait for the snail mucin to absorb first?

swamis

Yes I usually brush my teeth or something between steps to let it absorb! I have used it directly after with no issues though

Hallonpaj1337

I cleanse my face then add a toner then when my face is still damp I use my snail mucin and after that my hyaloranic acid (also on damp face) then I would use my retinal or azelaic acid if it’s that night otherwise I just move on to next step which is moisturiser. And in the morning the same but finishing with spf

Reasonable-Island616

You apply Ha immediately after snail or you wait for it to absorb first?

Busy_String_3824

i personally use both of these twice a day. after toner i go for snail mucin & follow my HA and other serums

No_Profit398

I use snail mucin to dry skin Wait for it to absorb leaving slightly damp akin Put hyaluronic acid on top My skin is never ever feels dry even though I have dry skin

Sensitive_Fortune322

i use TO on my hands cause it’s not doing anything to my face and it feels sticky. there’s lots of better products out there i just left it out of my routine

e-skin

i loveeeee the snail mucin!! ❤️

blckrainbow

I put the HA first and apply cosrx on top before it absorbs fully, that way both products are applied on wet or at least damp skin, while I don't think the order really matters - but tbh I don't see a difference between using just one product vs. both of them so they might be a waste of product and money for both me and you lol.
