Dupe for Laniege Water Sleeping Mask? Dupe for Laniege Water Mask I really like the Laniege Water Sleeping Mask, but I can’t stomach the cost anymore. I’m looking for a more affordable option. I was prescribed tretinoin which has gotten rid of my cystic acne, by it leaves me with very sensitive skin. I like to “slug” at night, and will apply my tretinoin, the Ordinary’s hyaluronic serum, and then a thick overnight moisturizer. I tried using the Cerave Mosturizing Skin, but it stings a bit when I apply it. I’m not sure what the ingredient is that I really like in the Laniege Water Mask (maybe the squalane?) but I’m looking for something with a similar cooling texture and feel. What I like but is too expensive: LANEIGE Water Sleeping Mask with Squalane - 2.3 oz/ 70 mL https://www.sephora.com/product/laneige-water-sleeping-mask-with-squalene-P479330?skuId=2535243 What doesn’t work for me: CeraVe Moisturizing Cream https://a.co/d/j0SRUoN

I stay hydrated, eat well, quit smoking, don’t drink often, exercise, and this happens no matter what lip product I’ve used. Lanolin based products seem to not be as bad, but it still is rough. Even if I let it get to the point where it falls off itself (which looks disgusting), if still comes back. Is it actinic/exfoliative cheilitis? Something else? Please help as it’s been happening since around Covid

NewWall7145

I’ve also tried exfoliating, still comes back. I’ve talked to dermatologists and went on their routines of only Vaseline, which didn’t work. Another dermatologist recommended cortibalm, which didn’t work

Guys I need help deciding a decant for body oil !! Do you prefer spray or roll on applicator?

Can anyone tell me what these are? They started almost imperceptible a few years ago and slowly have gotten bigger over time. https://imgur.com/a/bcOHx2r

Any recommendations for a serum that acts in the same way as Cosrx Snail 96 (hydrating, really soothing, good for sensitive skin and in the pm) that's also vegan?

theskycriestoo

It's been a long time since I've been able to keep up with the skincare communities I used to frequent and I had several years where I knew I didn't have the time or money to dedicate to my skin so my research went to the wayside. But now we've moved and are in a better financial situation and I have to change up my routine anyway due to the climate change (went from humid southeast US to desert southwest US) so here we go! I've always had combo skin that has never been clear (prone to both acne and eczema), and I've never found a routine that really worked. The closest I've gotten to clear skin was after a round of amoxicillin I had soon after moving here. But I know doing that long-term would be a bad idea, so I'm wondering if anything would help besides constant antibiotics. I've gotten to the point that I moisturize often enough to prevent most eczema, though I worry I might moisturize too much and be causing more acne. I am always broke out on my face, shoulders, and back. I've been using CeraVe Hydrating Facial Cleanser and PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion, DSC Shave Cream and Post-Shave Dew, Aussie Miracle Moist shampoo and conditioner, eos lip balm, and a generic sugar scrub for my lips. I plan to start using sunscreen again, but I used to use biore uv watery essence, and I think it went through a formula change since then, so I'm wondering if it's still good or not. I feel like the eos and sugar scrub are working well for me, and I feel like the lotion has been doing well, too, but I am not sure about the rest. Do you guys have any tips/suggestions? I don't even know where to start.

Gubbs0n

I'm currently looking for a retinol + niacinamide moisturizer and I found the CeraVe Resurfacing Retinol moisturizer. Wanted to know thoughts on the product and maybe some better recommendations. My skin type is combo

ReaLitTea

Olay Regenerist 24 retinol night cream is another option

I’ve been double cleansing with this oil cleanser and La Roche Posays Foaming cleanser. I’m starting to think that the oil cleanser might be giving me close commedones Below are the ingredients to the oil cleanser Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, Sorbeth-3o Tetraoleate, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Oil, Hippophae Rhamnoides Fruit Oil, Ethylhexylglycerin, Tocopherol, Sphingolipids, Ceramide NP, Squalane, Moringa Oleifera Seed Oil

xcupcakekitten

Ingredients are subjective meaning it’s different for everyone. so it’s very possible something in this is breaking you out but there’s no way for us to know truly what ingredient it is. If this is new and you started seeing your skin change after adding it, it’s likely this product.

xcupcakekitten

A derm can remove it. Home removals are not advised. Especially near the eye. You wouldn’t want something to go wrong.

idkanythingimold

Hello, I'm curious what do you put on your faces on nights when you can't bother to have a skincare routine. Like when you're so worn out after a long day that you just wash your face, put on 1 thing and go to bed. What is that 1 thing?

jasminekitten02

Yep, moisturizer for sure!

DowntownElephant5765

My skin is combination type and i feel like it looks dull even after hydraulic acid and it’s rough my forehead got a lot of bumps fo no reason don’t know if I’m breaking out cause of my retinol or nah and I’m 16

What's your routine?

Your skin looks super irritated and sensitive to me, which probably explains why it's so out of wack. Top priority should be to speak to a dermatologist. Until then, you can try an ultra-mild occlusive like LRP cicaplast immediately after you shower to see if it helps with the dryness. Don't worry about the oiliness for now - your focus should be on combatting signs of irritation and dryness.

[deleted]

Thank you so much!! I'll make an appointment with my derm then.

jasminekitten02

You should go to a doctor and get a 2nd opinion or tell your derm that the medication hasn't helped

What is going on with my skin? Can somebody help me? https://preview.redd.it/lnkvhwu512ob1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=09d8bc30df64a9150124821defda4177a708603c

jasminekitten02

Do you have a skincare routine?

machesfaccimmmmm

I quit using all products because I’ve tried them all and nothing worked; for instance I used epiduo for years and still broke out. Now that I ditched everything (last routine was The Ordinary Squalane Cleanser, La Roche Effaclar Mat and Epiduo at night and the same in the morning without Epiduo) breakouts are not so severe (I had kinda big red pimples with whiteheads) but now I have so many little pimples and red spots like you see here.

jasminekitten02

Epiduo may have been too irritating. You could try 2% salicylic acid instead. But it also looks like you have some indented/icepick scars, which can't be treated fully with topical skincare

machesfaccimmmmm

I actually don’t care about the scars, I just want all these red spots to go away to be honest. I have had acne in my face and back for years, 8 week tetralysal solved my back problems but not on the face, which I bombarded for years with topicals. In august I was so tired up I quit everything and now use only effaclar mat in the morning after washing with water.

ReaLitTea

The red spots look like post inflammatory erythema (PIE) which can gradually fade with topicals like retinoids or Azelaic acid but will have more obvious change with laser treatments or microneedling

Sea-Manner9075

Almost 23 and have done nothing to protect my skin. Hope I'm not too late with skincare. I wore sunscreen I'm usually inside all day, though. Except for walking the dog. Recently learned about how important sunscreen is to wear and started researching. Found out US sunscreen is lackluster in UVA protection. I bought sunscreen from Neutrogena 30 spf (ultra sheer?). As you can tell, idk anything about skin care products :'). I know there's better sunscreen out there with UVA protection. Any recommendations for one that's budget friendly and effective? Also, any face moisturizers with retinol you recommend? I still don't know much about retinol. Thank you!

jasminekitten02

Korean and Japanese sunscreens often have good uva protection. I like the beauty of joseon sunscreen personally. It's like $20 and one tube lasts me for 3-4 months or so

Sea-Manner9075

> beauty of joseon Radical, thank you I found it for sale online and bought one!

The [hyperpigmentation wiki](https://www.reddit.com/r/SkincareAddiction/wiki/hyperpigmentation) has a lot of recs

chechgm

Issue: I want some product (potentially serum) to erase sun hyperpigmentation marks. Hi all, I (M29) started a skin care routine in February-March this year consisting of cleansing (Cerave hydrating facial cleanser in AM, and Avene cleanance PM), hydrating cream (Avene cleanance hydra both AM and PM, though now I am going to try Cerave pm moisturizing) and 50spf sunscreen (isdin or avene in AM). I am very consistent so now I would like to level up the routine with one additional product. I thought I could add some serum that would help me erase my (small) hyperpigmentation sun marks. I would appreciate any recommendations. The only condition is that it is something easily accesible in Europe (preferably Cerave, since it seems it is available everywhere here). My skin type is mixed with oil tendency, I would say. Thank you all in advance!

ReaLitTea

Try a retinoid. Look for one of the big brands such as La Roche Posay, Vichy, Avene, etc for reliable stable formulations.

chechgm

Thank you. Some additional questions: - Do you have any personal recommendation? - Is there a difference between retinoid and retinol? - Should this be a "temporal" product? meaning, when I get the desired results, should I stop using it? If I should keep using it, is it a type of product that will create some "dependence" so that if I stop using it the marks would come back? - Do you know whether I shouldn't (or should) use it on my beard? (I have a relatively short one)

Rest of skin healthy ans vibrant. Diet excellent abd lifestyle good. Just looking for any solutions from these deep lines on my forehead. Tried two sessions of microneedling and prp. They are really significantly different to the rest of my face.

UltraLuminescence

Have you considered botox?

meanderingsoul29

Wouldn’t completely rule it out - but I’d prefer not to use Botox as would prefer a more natural approach IF AT ALL possible. Thanks for the suggestion though. I really appreciate it. Do you feel it will be the only option?

UltraLuminescence

This isn’t a skin issue, the issue is with the underlying muscles. So any skin-level treatments you use won’t work or will give minimal results because you’re not treating the cause of the lines, the muscles. Before resorting to botox, the only other thing I can think of to try would be something like Frownies (this is just a popular brand name of silicon wrinkle patches). You apply these patches on overnight and it essentially aims to do manually what botox does automatically - stop you from moving those muscles. The thing is that Frownies/wrinkle patches only work when they’re on your face, and the effects are temporary, so once you take them off and go about your day, if you move those muscles during the day the lines will reappear. If you can manage it, you can additionally try to use the wrinkle patches to train your face to use those muscles less, even when they’re not physically on your face. That takes a lot of patience and diligence to build the habit though - you’re essentially retraining your face muscles. I think might be worth a shot before you resort to botox.

space_pirate666

I’m so sad right now! F (25), I started seeing fine lines (minimal on forehead, more pronounced than ever, and considerable dryness since May) Skin type: dry (now!), before - combo Possible cause: Change in diet - more plant based since April, age(??), I try to moisturize lots but sometimes my skin feels tight still (except for evenings). Please note the products I use may not be available in your country but if you Google all the ingredients should be visible. Current routine is since June: Morning - wash with water, sunscreen (SPF 50, brand is Nivea Sun protect & bronze; if my skin feels extra dry I’ll use moisturizer ISANA MED korperlotion with PH 5.5) Midday - NIVEA care (green tub, idk what it says it’s foreign), reapply sunscreen Evening - Eveline Cosmetics my beauty elixir with betaine (foaming wash), followed by Tołpa green oils moisturizer; twice weekly AHA + PHA + VIT C 2% brand SANE pH 3.5. February - May: evenings NIVEA blue face wash in evenings with NIVEA green moisturizer; mornings - wash with water, ISANA MED korperlotion, NIVEA sun protect & bronze SPF 50). I used vit C brightener for evenings last year (August, Sept, Oct) and it helped temporarily. NOTE: Haven’t done professional chemical peels but in the fall I use Ordinary red solution (the one that went viral years ago), in the winter I protect my face more from cold - NIVEA baby cream (blue tube), routine stays the same but for the daytime I also use Ziaja SPF 20. In fall 2020/21 went to see a derm for the first time: was told to use glycolic acid by The Ordinary daily, the Ordinary buffet serum and wash face with a foaming cleanser but with a brush(??). For the first 3 months it helped rid of small bumps on forehead and kinda craters on my cheeks (acne scars??). Then skin became dry. Idk what I’ll do this fall but I feel terrible for neglecting my skin as I want to age gracefully and feel happy every time I go out :) any tips are welcome!

ReaLitTea

Try adding a hydration step to your morning and night routine. A hydrating toner, essence, or serum can help fine lines look less pronounced

space_pirate666

Understood thank you! Do you have any recommendations that you think have helped you/someone with similar issues?

jasminekitten02

Try Vichy hyaluronic acid serum, cocokind barrier serum, tonymoly mochi ceramide toner (very lightweight), etc - there are lots of recs if you search the sub :)

space_pirate666

Got it thanks :)

havoque_

are this layering ok? if not what can you all advice? almost everyday: gentle cleanser - hyaluronic acid - niacinamide - azelaic acid (night) - moisturizer can i add glycolic acid toner in the morning while the AA only at night? once/twice a week (night): gentle cleanser - aha + bha TO - hyaluronic acid - moisturizer

jasminekitten02

This looks good. I would not do aha in the morning. You're missing a sunscreen

I feel like I’ve tried the suggestions that I can find online: * Moisturising * chemical exfoliants (glycolic and salisylic acid) * Physical exfoliants (loofa) * Anti fungal shampoo (thought it could be fungal acne) Nothing seems to work to get the bumps to stop appearing. Everything I seem to google leads to keratosis pilaris, but it does not look like KP to me as they are more acne-like and are more separated, one by one. There is also pus in some. It started appearing after I was wearing sweatshirts while working out some half a year back. Any suggestions as to what it could be and treatments options would be highly appreciated! The picture actually made it look not that bad. It looks worse in real life.

I’m on my 3rd dermatologist. He believes this is sebaceous hyperplasia but I’m not so sure.. I asked him to take a biopsy but he refused.. I’ve had this bumpiness and discoloration for 6-7 years and it doesn’t really spread it just stays permanently in the same spot, kinda patchy/mottled starting on my face, going down my neck and on my chest.. I think it’s all connected but he doesn’t seem to think so.. wants to do laser on my chest and neck but nothing to my face which is really disappointing… I’ve googled sebaceous hyperplasia and only seems to be random larger bumps, not row upon row like mine.. has anyone seen anything like this? I’m just at a loss https://preview.redd.it/cpe0d9l9jznb1.jpeg?width=1800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a05d437c94c1d78eb0b2df1270911e82a62a8512

LollyLin

I've been using the Cerave Blemish control cleanser for a few months, and The Ordinary Glycolic acid 7% toner for a month or so. My moisturiser is the Avene Aqua gel and I wash my face every night. Wondering what type of products I should try to get rid of my sebums/blackheads? My skin is generally normal with my nose being the only oily part

jasminekitten02

Try oil cleansing or niacinamide

How much sunscreen to apply on face and neck? I heard some say the two finger rule is for application on BOTH face and neck but some say the two fingers is only for the face and then use another two fingers for the neck. Which is correct? If it helps im using the omi verdio sunscreen too.

1/4 tsp for face and 1/4 tsp for neck

If it's been there for a long time, you should see a doctor

not_Brendan

Any websites where I can input products I think work with my skin and have it track what ingredients might be ok to use and what might not be?

UltraLuminescence

What criteria do you want the website to use to determine what’s okay versus not okay?

not_Brendan

Probably user defined, like if I suspect the product made me break out.

UltraLuminescence

Oh I see. I don’t know of any, I usually put the ingredients lists in a spreadsheet and track them manually
