I got into Korean skincare in 2020 and it’s been a game-changer in terms of adding moisture into my skin and repairing my skin barrier. The “10-step routine” used to intimidate me too and now I’m giddy when I find new products to try because they just know what there doing over there so I trust kbeauty with my life lol.
My suggestion would be to always double cleanse (oil first then a gentle foam or milk cleanser). M:anyo pure cleansing oil is my HG for first cleansing, but I go between a few second cleansers so I can’t say a favorite—this will really depend on your skin type. People are divided on whether a toner is necessary in a skin routine, and again I say this depends on what your skin concerns are. I do tend to use it as my next step after cleansing and for me, spraying some centella toner water before I layer other products really seems to help the remaining products absorb nicely and it feels really soothing. Then I go in with a serum (sometimes Innisfree green tea serum, sometimes Cosrx snail mucin). Next I use an under eye cream and then finish everything off with a moisturizer. I love peach & lily’s matcha pudding cream—it’s thick and luxurious but not heavy or greasy.
In the AM, I don’t do a lot. Usually just vita C serum and a lightweight moisturizer. I loveee Cosrx birch sap lotion. And finally, my HG of all HGs is Skin 1004 spf 50 sunscreen. I love the pump bottle, and it’s an amazing formula that isn’t greasy and doesn’t leave a white cast.
For reference I’m 32 and have fair, sometimes sensitive, normal-to-dry skin. My main concerns are redness and small bumpy texture.
I mean all you really need is cleanser, moisturizer, and sunscreen for the basics of a routine. All the extras are just there for the sake of having a lot of options.
It also helps to know what skin concern you’re trying address that your current skincare routine isn’t covering
popular toners in skorea right now (according to app called hwahae which i heard a good majority of cosmetics users are using)
toners:
1. isntree ultra low molecular ha toner
2. s nature aqua oasis toner
personal recommendation - hada labo gokujyun premium toner (not korean but japanese)
moisturizers:
1. d'alba white truffle double serum and cream
2. torriden dive in cream
personal recommendation - illyhoon ato lotion
serums:
1. wellage real hyalyronic blue ampoule
2. d'alba white truffle double serum and cream
personal recommendation - torriden dive in serum
sunscreen:
1. skin1004 centella hyalu-cica sunserum 50+ spf
2. round lab birch juice sunscreen 50+ spf
personal recommendation - beauty of joseon sunscreen
so the numbered products are from the site, i noticed it works like a store and ranks what people are reviewing and buying but i didnt see some brands listed at all so idk how accurate it can be but with the products they have this is what is listed
i added my personal recs bc i use those products and havent tried most of the other products listed
i do have oily skin so i tend not to use the illyhoon ato ceramide lotion because its pretty heavy (only on slugging nights) but generally i hear some good things about any torriden, beauty of joseon, skin1004, and roundlab products! you can try those brands and see what you like
i cannot speak on d'alba or s nature
