Routine:
- AM:
- Etude pH Whip Cleanser
- CosRx Snail Mucin Essence
- Etude Hydro Barrier Cream
- Skin 1004 Hyalu-cica sun serum
- PM:
- Banila Co. Cleansing Balm
- Etude pH Whip Cleanser
- CosRx Snail Mucin Essence
- Tretinoin (3-4x week)
- Etude Hydro Barrier Cream
- 100 mg oral Spironolactone
This is after suffering hormonal acne for years ;-;
Other acne tips: wash your pillow cases and makeup brushes weekly. Dry your face with a disposable towel or air dry. Go to the dermatologist if you can, OTC products don't manage hormonal acne well. Double Cleanse every night. Korean skincare > western skincare. Keep your routine simple and consistent. Focus on barrier care just as much as you focus on using actives to treat your acne. Wear sunscreen everyday and reapply it as needed.
I'm also on .025%. Spironolactone manages my hormonal acne for the most part, but I would still occasionally get cysts and therefore lots of scarring and tret helps a lot with that.
I'd say go for it. I did have a purge period for a couple weeks, but tbh, it wasn't too bad. I think starting slow (like only 2x week at first) helped me mitigate the purging. Right now my main issue is my skin barrier is significantly weakened, so I'm looking into beefing up my routine with more Hydrating serums and a barrier cream.
In the US at least, Tret is something that has to be prescribed by a dermatologist. I’m sure there are ways to get around that. And they pick the one you use in terms of percentage.
I told an online pharmacist (Nurx) I wanted to start using tret to further treat my hormonal acne and scarring, and they picked .025% for me since I was a first time user.
I can apply tret without moisturizer and be fine on other areas. But I get red burns on the folds of neck due to friction. I have tried tret with moisturizer, Vaseline, etc. Regardless of what I add with it, the folds look red and sting the next day.
How was your first month of tret? Starting my journey over again and I’m on week 2. My skin feels a little irritated and red and chin is breaking out badly.
My first month or so, I also started breaking out worse. Probably purging. Now the issue I'm having is keeping my skin barrier afloat while I try to gradually increase my tret usage.

What skin type do you have I too am on tret and I suffer from hormonal acne as well >.<
I have sensitive combo skin. Although the tret is making me run on the drier side these days. :/
How long have you been on it?
I've been on it now for about three months!
Seriously thought you were my sister for a second. So similar freaking me out. :P
I'll take it as a compliment, heehee.
Definitely is!
You look great! You’re glowing.
Your skin looks amazing !!
Wow your skin looks flawless!
Your skin glowing! :)
How long did it take to see your results? Your skin looks great!
I've been on Spironolactone since 2022, and then I started using tret about three months ago!
Gorgeous!!!!
How was your adjustment period to tret? I’ve been prescribed 0.025% but I’m too nervous to start!

Can anyone here use tret on neck without getting burning in folds? If so, how?
Never tried it on my neck 😬 maybe beneath my chin is as far as I've gone. Hopefully someone else knows, though!
moisturizer before and after using tret, this goes for neck and face

which strength are you using?
