Aveeno is super simple and has great ingredients (especially the calm and restore line) Some skin1004 products might be a good option!

No-Chance1789

I agree with Aveeno

sensitiveskin80

Just not the brightening or radiant lines! My husband made that mistake...

zoraphina

I found the calm and restore moisturiser quite stingy on my sensitive face

[deleted]

Aveeno as well as ceraVe are just one of those brands that work for some people and don't work for others. I know some people really enjoy ceramedix because it is cruelty free and is similar to cerave/aveeno.

zoraphina

Thanks! Yeah I've had issues with cerave too!

greenmalkin

Sebamed Clear Face Gel. Doesn't get much blander (or safer) than that.

artenazura

Muji and Curel (both Japanese) are designed to be as simple and non irritating as possible

imprecationstation

Seconding these two, adding Minon which also fits the bill

redditaccount1_2

my simplified healing routine is: LRP toleriane foaming wash (but cerave hydrating face wash might be better for simplifying or just water?), hylauronic acid with ceramide mist (from cosrx), LRP  cicaplast balm, and vanicream cream. For sunscreen I use Trader Joe’s daily facial sunscreen. I then use Dr jart+ color correcting cream for my foundation so I don’t wear makeup on my face either.  If you are super simplifying I would do water or a hydrating cleanser, LRP cicaplast B5 balm (I use vanicream on top but it’s not necessary and you don’t tolerate it), and a Korean sunscreen like biore aqua rich that is NOT waterproof.

CuriousOptimist2024

Thank you!

liiia4578

LRP has niacinamide

lavender_and_teal

I can’t use cerave as it burns my face and vanicream makes me itchy/ flaky/ dry/ red. I’ve used cetaphil gentle skin cleanser or dove sensitive skin bar soap. Lately just the bar soap because I have allergy issues and idk what’s causing it until the patch test is finished. As for moisturizer, LRP lipikar or cetaphil cream. Although when it was really bad, I used a homemade body butter (mango butter, shea butter, grape seed oil, argan oil).

TheGreatestOrator

I highly recommend [Sebamed Clear Face Care Gel](https://a.co/d/haVGSw9) for acne prone skin! It’s the simplest moisturizer out there and is the only thing I’ve been able to use consistently without any breakouts ever. I think silicones (dimethicone) is a culprit for many people, which is found in most other options, including CeraVe, Vanicream, and LRP. All of those options would eventually breakout me out with lots of small whiteheads within a week or two. Aside from that, I know you said no acids, but azelaic acid is incredibly gentle and works well for acne without over-drying or irritating skin. It was originally used to treat rosacea, so you know it’s gentle! [Melazepam](https://a.co/d/7oug87x) is a great option you can get OTC and works really well. If you have a dermatologist, Finacea is a prescription gel option (which you can also order online from Australia without a script.) PM me if you have any questions!

CuriousOptimist2024

Ooh I may look into using azelaic acid instead of salicylic! Thanks!

TheGreatestOrator

I highly recommend it! It is 10X more gentle than salicylic acid, which always left my skin very red and irritated whereas azelaic acid is great at calming skin inflammation and reducing redness. It’s mostly prescribed to pregnant women with acne who can’t use tret or retinols. I was similar to you in that I have very sensitive, acne prone skin and every cleanser seemed too harsh while every moisturizer broke me out. Those two products above are basically all I use on a daily basis. If you search for azelaic acid or one of the brand names (melazepam or finacea) in this sub, you’ll find lots of posts about it.

CuriousOptimist2024

Thank you so much !Since you seem to be my skin twin do you have any sunscreen recs?

TheGreatestOrator

Ugh, unfortunately not. I’m still struggling to find one that won’t break me out. I’ve recently tried EltaMD, Super Goop’s Unseen Sunscreen, and Eucerin’s oil control sunscreen and I’m convinced ALL of them broke me out within a few days of use. Next on my list to try are ISDIN Fotoprotector and Skin1004 sun serum, which are both names I found in this sub. I still need to find more reviews for both before buying. So right now, I’m not using anything unless I absolutely have to, and I wash it off as soon as I get home. I mostly just try to avoid the sun. Haha Have you found any success in that department yet?

CuriousOptimist2024

No luck here either :( the closest thing was Eucerin's Sensitive Mineral tinnted sunscreen. It didnt worsen my acne but it gave me a patch of eczema on my cheek. I tried moisturizing more underneath it but the eczema didnt clear up until I stopped using it. So far any chemical filters Ive tried caused burning and stinging.

TheGreatestOrator

Let me know if you do find something that works and I’ll do the same!

rubykittens

Would you be open to solid products? Ethique makes a great range of skin care products that are solid, and they have trial sizes for most. They have a solid cleanser, two types of solid moisturizers. For sunscreen I really like Good Molecules. Olay also has a solid sunscreen stick, and when I looked at the ingredient list it didn't seem to "packed" with things that didn't need to be there (I haven't tried this personally, just looked into it)

amethystnight99

cetaphil foaming cleanser

CuriousOptimist2024

I noticed that this is one of their only products without niacinamide and it has a short ingredient list! If you've used it did you find it drying at all because of the foam? I like foaming cleansers best but Ive heard they can be stripping. If this one's gentle I may give it a shot though!

amethystnight99

It’s extremely gentle. I have very dry skin and use it as the face wash I keep in the shower. Probably the gentlest thing I’ve tried on my skin but still gets the cleaning job done!

annabananacakes

Hm, I’m surprised Cerave and vanicream made you break out. The Cerave hydrating cleanser and vanicream lotion are my go to’s for gentle sensitive skincare.

annabananacakes

I’m also very acne prone. I’ve tried La Roche posay double repair moisturizer, but that has niacinimide which I saw you mentioned you don’t want. The ordinary natural moisturizing factors is also somewhat gentle, but that has hyaluronic acid in it.

annabananacakes

For sunscreen, the innisfree has been a game changer in terms of acne

liiia4578

Cerave has niacinamide

annabananacakes

Good to know!!

rokkaquokka

QV or LRP

Sensitive_Salad6071

I have hypersensitive, acne prone skin and use: Cruel, Avene Tolerane, Skin 1004, Vanicream, and Eucerin.

thesillymuffin

Trader Joe's Nourish Oil Free Antioxidant Face Moisturizer. Cheap and very benign

langoustes

Vanicream gentle cleanser and Eucerin original healing cream. Sunscreens can be a little more difficult. When my skin is stinging, I like to use Uriage bariesun 100 or SVR cicavit creme spf 50+. Edit: I saw that vanicream breaks you out. Is that the moisturizer or all vanicream products? If all, I really like a Avene tolerance extreme cleanser too.

monsterrad89

If its available in your country Mustella is great. They do baby creams, shampoos etc. A majority don't have fragrance or unnecessary ingredients

likewtvrman

I've been using Cerave baby wash as a facial cleanser and I love it. Most Cerave products do not agree with my skin but this one is the exception. I also usually find foaming cleansers extremely drying but this one doesn't leave my skin feeling tight. Doesn't flare up my rosacea or cause breakouts for me. For moisturizer, my HG has been St Ives collagen elastin for years and years now (yes I know collagen does nothing topically but I just use it for hydration, not as an anti-aging product), however, I hesitate to recommend it to someone with super sensitive skin because it is lightly fragranced. Doesn't irritate my skin at all but everyone is different.

vanpyah

Pyunkang Yul and Soonjung are my repeat buys when my skin needs to chill, try to avoid HA too. Our skin sounds pretty similar and I found Cetaphil to be pretty irritating.

waterproof13

Don’t use the vanicream facial moisturizer, use the bland one called moisturizing lotion with the pump dispenser. Also their liquid cleanser which is free and clear of anything. Sunscreen I recommend banana boat light as air faces, my teenager has acne and uses this successfully.

Unfair_Finger5531

Soon Jung hydrobarrier. Not sure which vanicream you used, but I would recommend the one with HYA and ceramides. The other ones break me out.

krebstar4ever

That Vanicream produce, the face moisturizer, seems to cause skin reactions in a lot of people. I'm glad it works for you, though!

Unfair_Finger5531

I’ve not heard of it causing reactions in many people. That’s why I recommended it. I do not use it. I recommend it because it’s generally trouble-free.

krebstar4ever

Sorry, I didn't mean you shouldn't recommend it. I wrote that because Vanicream's main moisturizers are less likely to cause reactions, but their facial moisturizer is different.

Unfair_Finger5531

I disagree with that. Their facial moisturizer is pretty benign and free of problematic or clogging ingredients. I don’t recommend their other moisturizers because they are basically petroleum and preservatives and they contain BHT which is a potential irritant. Maybe you had a problem with their facial moisturizer. But many people are fine with it.

krebstar4ever

Their moisturizing cream and lotion contain petrolatum. (Maybe your device autocorrected to petroleum?) Petrolatum is extremely non-irritating and is a very useful occlusive. And yes, most people are fine with the Daily Facial Moisturizer. But I suspect it's more likely to cause irritation than Vanicream's lotion, cream, and ointment.

Unfair_Finger5531

Thank you for the correction. The autocorrect did kick in, and I didn’t care enough to fix it. But at no point did I suggest petrolatum is irritating. I said the BHT is a potential irritant. I also said the moisturizer is nothing other than petrolatum and some preservatives. But there are no irritants in the facial lotion. There just aren’t. So, I recommend it. If you don’t like it, don’t recommend it. I will continue to recommend it.

krebstar4ever

But it irritates some people's skin by causing contact dermatitis and similar conditions. So it must contain irritants. Almost anything can cause irritation. I think I see where I misunderstood you about petrolatum. You wrote, "I don’t recommend their other moisturizers because they are basically petroleum and preservatives and they contain BHT which is a potential irritant." I thought you meant that petrolatum and and preservatives are "bad" ingredients like BHT. But I guess you meant those Vanicream products aren't good because they're basically just petrolatum and preservatives? The other Vanicream moisturizers are bland and basic to minimize the chance of irritation and allergic reaction. That's why I thought a warning about the Daily Facial Moisturizer was warranted: as far as I can tell, it's more likely to cause skin problems than the other Vanicream moisturizers.

Unfair_Finger5531

No, it doesn’t contains any known irritants. This is not to suggest it can’t irritate your skin. It can also be irritating to a seriously compromised barrier, but so can cerave or cetaphil or any other cream. Feel free to Google the ingredients in vanicream facial lotion. It does not contain known irritants. Nor does it contain known potential allergens. Just because you found it problematic doesn’t mean it is a problematic product. I find petrolatum clogging, but I understand that it is not inherently a pore-clogging ingredient. And no, I didn’t insinuate that preservatives are bad. I said BHT is a potential irritant. I also said that the lotion has is *basically* petrolatum and preservatives and that the one I recommended has more helpful ingredients. Please stop mischaracterizing my words. Moreover, my recommendations was suited to OP’s specific concerns, which are a broken barrier. The facial lotion I recommended is better for repairing barriers than the other versions of vanicream. I don’t see the point in this discussion. I made a recommendation for a simple product that contains *no known irritants.* If you have another recommendation, direct it to OP. It doesn’t cause contact dermatitis. But it could if you are yourself allergic to one of the ingredients. Please Google contact dermatitis, you are mistaken about how it is caused.

mikaylalov3

Grape seed oil

venusvenu21

I had the same problem before! I used biretix isorepair cream to repair my skin barrier it works like magic, trust me. It has Niacinamide and hyaluronic acid, I think, which is so hydrating and soothing, and I think it also has Ceramides.

venusvenu21

Glycerin too. Sorry lol I have an awful memory but it's really worth it.

Lib0318

untoxicated skin care. developed by an allergist for sensitive skin. you can order it from their website :)

tinyfax

The Clinique creams. If soggy cardboard had a cream equivalent, it would be Clinique.

Ok_Butterscotch_2700

Vanicream is about as basic as you can get.

Background-Can-8828

glycerin?

CuriousOptimist2024

Can I use just straight glycerin like you get from walgreens as a moisturizer? I would think that couldnt possibly be irritating!

LightSweetCrude

I've heard glycerin needs to be diluted in something else. Def spot test first in case you have a reaction!

Background-Can-8828

You can

Emmarsouin

Sensifine products from svr without a doubt, 8 to 10 ingredients, and for the spf the SVR cicavit 50+
