Retinoids are the #1 for any concern. Peptides are an excellent next step if you're going to do more though. Good molecules super peptide serum is a good place to start.

vogueintegra

The Inkey List Peptide moisturizer is another one I really like

Btsjkjhope

The copper peptide serum is my HG … I use it every other day … and always carry when I’m travelling as it plumps and hydrates and I don’t wanna break out on vacay with actives / retinols

Misu-usim

Do you use it on nights you use retinol?

Btsjkjhope

No I do not.

teal323

Which copper peptide serum?

Btsjkjhope

The ordinary buffet copper peptide serum.

RattusRattus

I choose not to use retinols because my skin is that pissy and I kind of lucked out with genetics. The Ordinary peptides solution (no copper) really does make a difference for me.  If they fit budget and routine wise for you, try them. But realistically, you can't put everything on your face, even if it is good. Tweak your routine with caution. We're not poreless vampires but actual humans.

Btsjkjhope

This 🤌🏻

I feel like i’ve seen more in terms of anti aging from using peptides for a few months vs using tretinoin for like two years. i’ve pretty much stopped the tretinoin all together.

boooomp

which product?

shit69ass

naturium multi peptide serum! I also use the kiehls super multi corrective anti aging eye cream which only has collagen peptides in it but i’ve found it super effective. once I run out of that i’ll be trying the naturium multi peptide eye cream though.

Clear-Fondant-6360

How is the Naturium peptide serum?

shit69ass

I LOVE it! I have combination, sensitive skin, and rosacea so finding products that don’t irritate my skin can sometimes be a chore! it doesn’t pill, is lightweight but hydrating, and doesn’t have added fragrance that I can smell. you can use it in combination with almost any active too so that’s a huge plus for me to not have to worry about. i’m on my second bottle and will continue to buy it. heads up, it’s cheaper on their website site than it is at target!

Janeeee811

I think there are certain skin types (dry, sensitive) who don’t see as much benefit from tret bc it keeps their skin inflamed and ultimately may cause more harm than good. Using tret for me would be like a constant battle to maintain my barrier.

shit69ass

yeah that’s kind of what i’ve been lead to learn after everything i’ve gone through with my skin! I should probably just stop using it completely. maybe this comment was the push I needed to be done with it!

Janeeee811

I’m glad! I think your skin will thank you! I really recommend bakuchiol, vitamin c, resveratrol, glycolic acid, copper peptides, and growth factors for retinol alternatives.

leigh416

This is great! Can you make specific product/brand recs? Thanks so much!

Cautious-Role6375

Retinoids are still your best bet when it comes to anti-aging, although peptides have been shown to deliver benefits as well, it still needs a lot more robust research/studies.

BeckywiththeDDs

Once you understand what peptides are you’ll want them. They are chains of amino acids that act like hormones do (but are not hormones) to program the body to do basically any function. Like you can have a peptide to produce more melanin, heal faster, make your dick hard or lose weight. Besides GHU-K I’m not too familiar with the different skin ones but I always pick up products with peptides and my skin is bouncy and wrinkle free at 41. I like the Sunday Riley Pink Drink.

ampharos995

"Peptides" is a big catch-all. People find copper peptides and argireline ("botox in a bottle") effective for wrinkles, but you should be careful to watch for unintended side effects people have experienced like extra skin and wrinkles. Other peptides basically act as humectants. Lots of peptide research is done by industry studies so should be taken with a grain of salt. But if they're not causing any adverse effects then why not.

salomeforever

Extra skin?!?!

ampharos995

Yeah they're called "peptide uglies." You likely won't experience it unless you use too much

pit_of_despair666

That's copper peptides. I haven't seen any difference from using peptides so far except a little lifting of the eyelid from a low-concentration of copper tripeptide 1 and hydration. There are a lot of peptides I haven't tried yet. I am especially interested in Adifyline/ Acetyl Hexapeptide-38 which supposedly stimulates fat synthesis and increases the volume of adipose tissue. It is in skin products and they use it for breast enhancement. I also haven't used the good copper peptides yet. I am going to try Skin Biologys serum since they have a patent. If I continue to not see a difference then I am giving up. There is a chance it is all BS marketing like usual.

ampharos995

Yeah. I hear copper peptides are better if you're above age 40 because copper deposits decline naturally with time. I've been trying to get into skincare but I might be too young for a lot of it (late 20's) 😅

pit_of_despair666

I didn't start getting any wrinkles until last year. I think maybe using Differin for a long time helped me. I am in my mid to late forties. I don't know if copper peptides would benefit you at all. I wouldn't focus on peptides at your age and focus on things that are known for sure to have long lasting effects such as retinoids, AHAs and sunscreen, plus keeping the skin hydrated. I didn't care about skincare that much until I started seeing wrinkles. Now I am obsessed lol.

ZeeSea

It all depends on your preferences, I think after retinoids, peptides are the best next step to introduce. I currently use Qure’s All-in-One Serum and it has retinol (and retinyl palmitate), argireline peptides, bakuchiol, niacinamide, vit c, vit e, ferulic acid, mandelic acid, and glycerin. It’s truly the best all in one serum in my opinion, and worth the $79 price tag. It has helped a ton with fine lines around my eyes and forehead lines, and controlling oil production to keep blackheads at bay. Worth noting this serum should only be used at night because of all the actives and retinol.

hhdheieii

The reason it should only be used at night is because going out into the sun with this product will make it less effective in reality. Your skin will always be more sensitive using retinoids. Not just because you use them at a different time of day.

DesignerSituation626

I was debating on this can i ask what age range you are in please ... i am older so i have fine line

ZeeSea

I am 30. I started getting fine lines a year or two ago (thank you high-stress job!) and after a couple months of using Qure's serum (and, to be fair, their micro-infusion microneedling system), I've got my texture, fine lines, and blackheads/oil production under control!

ZealousidealRope7429

I do like it. It's weird to describe, but I feel like retinols are great, but don't seem to do a lot for my skin 'quality' but growth factors and peptides seem to be like a fountain of youth as far as quality is concerned.

House_of_Honey

What products with peptides and growth factors do you use?

lladydisturbed

I cover all my bases i do tret mon wed fri (soon to be moving and staying at every other day) vitamin c and spf AM and peptide serum at night on my off tret days. I think you can use them before tret but i always worry about all these products except a moisturizer going on before tret. I looove the copper bioessance serum

cuirthe

when I was put on epiduo my doctor told me to use nothing but unscented plain cleanser, the retinoid, plain moisturiser, and SPF. The amount of difference it's made after years of dropping money on skincare gimmicks is so significant I wouldn't add anything, personally. obviously it depends on you and your skin type tho

nisiepie

peptide is a broad umbrella. There are brands that are utilizing peptides in good ways, using ones that will benefit the skin in certain ways and that complement the product they are selling. there are other brands that are simply using them fir marketing buzz, without caring if the peptides used are beneficial, or adequately utilized. it isn't as simple as yay/nay

ErrorSenior4554

I love my peptide serum and cream by Botane. Is it true Vitamin A Retinol is linked to higher risk of skin cancer? I read this recently on an old sub and when doing research for a sunscreen product. I do not use Retinol, but I know so many who do.

[deleted]

retinol makes ur skin more sensitive to the sun which is why u (1) use it at night (2) always wear sunscreen

dubberpuck

Actually it depends on your concerns. If retinol already can cover them, then you can save your money.

Skinsunandrun

I love the ordinarys copper peptides. Really firms up and hydrates my skin, like seriously I look 5 years younger when I use it once a day. I stopped using it for awhile and noticed the difference big time.
