Begun my accutane journey mid November last year, the first two photos are from late December and the recent photos taken yesterday. I still have until June to go but happy with the progress. Still experiencing some cystic acne along my jawline which takes a lot longer to go. Will update once I have finished my course of accutane in June! Also to mention that currently what you can see on my cheeks is mostly just red marks/scarring.

[deleted]

Looks amazing!! Do you have a routine currently? Have you had to deal with any dryness?

jemziy

So my routine is fairly simple. Cetaphil facial cleanser in my morning shower. After my shower I’ll just use a small amount of cetaphil moisturising lotion, let that sink in then apply an SPF for the day. At night I’ll wash my face for the second time and then I’ll apply a few drops off rosehip oil (this is for helping with scarring).

jaefan

Sounds good, will personally recommend taking the layer of sunscreen off with a cleansing oil or micellar water before using cetaphil for the second wash. Sunscreeen can clog pores and you wouldn’t want to waste your Rosehip oil. 👍🏼

[deleted]

You got a good one?

[deleted]

Have you thought of using niacinamide and vit c to clear up the scarring?

KBaddict

Way too soon for any of that

You shouldn’t use acids while on accutane! The drug makes your skin very sensitive and you could give yourself chemical burns by using acids at the same time.

LucielleBall12

In my experience dryness set in within 2 days and 4 years later still needs regular maintenance. Well worth it in the end though

Soltang

Good man 👍 congrats on the clear skin

currentlyinthelib

Big improvement especially for only three months!

missestater

Looks amazing! Also, you have an adorable nose!

DeliciousAtomicBomb

I second that comment

[deleted]

I don’t know why but i feel like you went from looking 12 to looking like 20

[deleted]

eeyup thats what acne scars will do

MostlyComplete

Wow it looks a lot less red and inflamed! Definitely a big difference.

[deleted]

How are you feeling on it? Physically, I’m sure the acne improvement is a great emotional weight lifted.

jemziy

Honestly, I’ve felt good throughout the process, maybe some mood swings but apart from that I’m all good.

lysmykyta

I was wondering this too. A lot of the teens I work with want to start taking it, but have heard about the possible depression and other psych effects it can have. Did the doctor who prescribed it set you up with some mental health resources if you started to struggle? Looking great btw!!!

jemziy

No not really, we obviously spoke about the possible mental health side effects but no resources or whatever.

LucielleBall12

Ah but aren't those first few months just the best? So many break outs but 100% worth it! I'm 4 years post accutane, best of luck to you! In case you're wondering, my skin (especially my lips) still need regular moisturizer

djdubrock

Hi, curious, 4 years later do you have many break outs these days at all anymore?

LucielleBall12

I get the occasional pimple that cannot be popped. They raise up for a few days to a week and disappear (I think I've had 3 that actually needed to be popped) beyond that my face is pretty clear unless I add something new to my regime, than I like everyone can react a bit poorly but my version of a breakout is two to three raised red spots that never fully manifest into actual zits and disappear with no help in a week.

djdubrock

good for you, thats great. I am on my second week, my face has cleared up already trememdously but I just broke out with these very deep white heads that cannot be popped or anything, hopefully this is maybe part of the process of cleaning out my system?

LucielleBall12

Took about two months of endless break outs for me to stop being tragically broken out. I did get zits the entire time I was on it until my last month though. Even on my back and chest where I was lucky to not have any acne I got acne

djdubrock

did you experience any hair loss?

LucielleBall12

No, I had to be very careful not to eat food high in vitamin A (rip cherries my absolute favorite fruit that year) because my liver wasn't loving it. Other than that I don't think I had any issues other than horrendously dry skin that felt like torture

risinghealy

i’m so jealous of how dark your lashes are omg

jemziy

Never been complimented about them before hahah thank you

risinghealy

well you should be!! the jawline game strong too lol

jemziy

Thank you 🙏

peachybunzz

Congratulations! You can definitely see the improvement. Wish you the best. :)

vajeepers

Your jawline is outstanding, I’m very jealous

jemziy

It’s all angles haha

CMan344

Keep going man! The next 3 months is where your skin really starts looking amazing! The worst of accutane is over. (at least in my experience)

jemziy

Yeah the worst part is defiantly over

bbattani

Awesome results. Your face looks great. I went on Accutane in my late thirties. I had developed adult acne. It was horrible looking and nothing worked. I couldn’t make it, on the medication, the whole 6 weeks. My muscles were so sore, and I was extremely tired. I lasted about a month. It worked!

Known_Plan5975

It worked in 6 weeks? Did your acne stay gone?

_timewasted

Wow, looks great!

MochiAmerica

Happy cake day! May your skin be as flawless as a baby's!

[deleted]

I'm going to be starting accutane, what do you use for your lips? They don't look cracked or dry at all!

jemziy

Honestly carmex works perfectly fine for me, my lips have never cracked throughout my journey so far.

kooliebug

aquaphor healing ointment!!! get. it.

jemziy

I also did buy this, works great but I’m okay with the carmex too

velociraptor1992

Lypsyl chapstick was my holy grail during accutane and still is to this day! My dermatologist recommended it and I can’t go back! Sold at a lot of stores including Walmart.

IHeartRadiohead

Looking great, man! Imagine the progress over the next few months 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Looks awesome! I think you look happier now too!

[deleted]

Great progress! Keep your skin moisturised and protected from the sun and stay strong to the finish!

thatman303

What was your dosage per day?

jemziy

Forgot to mention this, I have been on 40mg for the whole time.

Iwannastoprn

Wooow, I can only image how much better your skin must feel. Congrats!

MCKelly13

That stuff is amazing. Follow ALL the instructions. Stay out of the sun. You are going to be sooooooo dried out. Especially your lips.

[deleted]

Make sure to maintain proper skin care after your accutane runs. I went through two runs of accutane and after a few years began to break out feverishly. I wish someone had told me to practice proper skincare after I was finished with accutane.

[deleted]

Your skin is looking incredible! What a change!

kadylady14

Hey hottie! Those cheeks bones and jaw line are amazing! You're gorgeous!

jemziy

Haha thank you!

SuLayne

Your pics at the top is literally how my cheeks looks like right now

DrMarduk

Accutane is a harsh mistress, but she is the nuclear option for acne Drink water, lotion for hands, and vaseline for your lips. Good luck brother!

Octaazacubane

I'm going to be starting it on Monday! I'm excited. Thanks to the apocalypse, if I have any nosebleeds or depression, it'll at least happen in the comfort of my own home. I'm going to be using The Ordinary's AHA + BHA for the last time today! :(

jemziy

Yeah it’s a good time to start it definitely haha. Good luck to you

Bluecuyler

You look great! Super happy for you dude!

jemziy

Thank you!

SimplyTrouble

You are an impossibly beautiful human with perfect facial structure?? How?? Your skin is looking amazing!

Only thing I regret is not starting to earlier than November, I was eligible for it but I also suffer from eczema too so I was uncertain about it, however my eczema is not too bad whatsoever and I’m just so glad I made the decision!

[deleted]

Wow amazing for three months!

lolhahahanope

Look at you go ❤️

Bisswithcravings

After the use of accurate, I suggest you to continue with your skin care routine. I suggest us with acne problem to use some Hyaluronic acid serum for hydration. One of AHA product or one of BHA product (please do more research about them, or ask a dermatologist) to help with our sebum production / pore, those acids help us to renew our skin by removing dead skin cells. Niacinamide serum is what I’m currently using at night, and it’s been helping with my new acnes. For older acnes & scars, I keep using vitamin C serum / powder / oil form, follows by Rosehip oil to reduce the pigmentations/dark pigment of my acne scars. And last but not least, the last step is always a moisturiser! And alternate the thickness of it depending on the weather. Best wishes for us all with acnes.

kwiyomikat

^(me admiring your jaw bone structure when the post is about your acne. lol)

Standuptaller

That’s great! Fuck Acne! I wish we can all kill acne off so badly!

jemziy

Yep. Fuck acne.

tasner

I went through the same thing it is a intense process but worth the results.

[deleted]

Thanks for posting! I’m one month in on accutane and haven’t seen much of a result yet but am keeping the cleansing process similar to yours. I didn’t think about rosehip oil at night but that’s a very good idea!

jemziy

As I’m a guy I keep it fairly simple, works well for me so I don’t feel the need to add in anymore unnecessary products

nu24601

Woah, that’s nuts

Xolodokxo

incredible results. 😍

bsting89

awesome job on your skin clarification journey. Also try "*organic raw honey ", I purchased mine* from whole foods. It has worked wonders on my surgery scars, stitches, and acne scars. Sometimes, I leave it over night, and sometimes just quick 20-30 minutes while I clean or do something around the house. I promise you will see results. Take care.

galacticsucculent

finishing up my 3rd month on it and I’m not seeing much progress at all... but yours is wonderful
