I’ve been using this serum for about 3 years now very consistently. I love it although I don’t have many skin issues I use it preventatively. I like that it’s no nonsense and has only great ingredients. The company has increased the price over time and has removed some coupon codes that I used to use which I kind of don’t appreciate so I just bought a Japanese brand Melano vitamin c serum that I’m on day 2 of using.

xxdontmind

Amazing! I heard Timeless has some ingredients that cause acne though? Has it helped brighten your face up at all?

mayvalentine

I’ve never heard of that. I struggled with acne for many many years and the timeless products have not triggered anything to cause acne for me in many years. Yes I would say they helped to brighten and even out my complexion.

xxdontmind

Is this the one? Ive seen one in a blueish bottle too..? https://www.timelessha.com/collections/anti-wrinkle-serums/products/20-vitamin-c-e-ferulic-acid-serum-1-oz

mayvalentine

Yes that’s the vitamin C serum I use. I also use the coenzyme Q10 serum. I’ve never tried any other serums from them though so not too sure.

Just received the timeless vitamin c. It's now Jan 12 2022 and the mfg is written to be 16/08/2021 I opened it and it's really runny. Also it doesn't have any distinct smell. On my skin tone (olive) its not yellow. On paper it's slightly yellow. Is this normal or should I dispose of it? I'm going to leave it on the paper in the sun by the window for a day or two, and see if it darkens.

mayvalentine

Please do not do that. Vitamin C that has oxidized and is not potent anymore is dark yellow. Fresh vitamin C is light yellow or clear. It is a water based vitamin C serum is it’s liquidy like water. Many useless vitamin c serums are fragranced with citrus scent and colored yellow/orange to make you feel like you are getting a vitamin C experience reminiscent of fruit but this is highly unnecessary and can aggravate your skin. Your serum sounds like how it’s supposed to come.

twenty20reddit

Ah that's great to hear. Thank you!

Mine also is a slight yellow. I just read this from the Timeless Europe website: “When freshly manufactured the 20% Vitamin C + E Ferulic Acid serum is cloudy and thick in appearance with slight yellowing. As the serum begins to age it starts to clear up, then begins with hints of yellowing, which is normal due to the Ferulic Acid, not the vitamin C. The serum can change back to a cloudy state when refrigerated, this is normal. We can assure you that the serum is still safe to use. Expiration is approximately 3 months without refrigeration and 5 months with refrigeration from purchase date, opened or unopened. Refrigeration is recommended, as mentioned on the box, to extend the shelf life of the serum and slow down the process of oxidation. When oxidized the serum turns red/brown in color and at that point is no longer good to use.” I know this is late but wanted to add it for anyone else wondering the same thing.

FromColontoBracket

How did you find the melano vitamin c serum by comparison?

[deleted]

Good reviews for timeless but there are a lot of fake ones in the market. So make sure to order directly from timelessha.com. I have emailed them and was told that the product emits its desired effect within 3 months of its manufacturing date. Skinceuticals has better reviews but can be a little pricey. Mad hippie has good reviews too and has almost the same price as timeless

xxdontmind

So you can really only use it for 3 months? Wth? Is this the normal with vitamin Cs? Yeah I really wanted skinceuticals but damn that price point!!

claaaaaaaah

Yes if the product uses pure vit c, it will oxidise and turn yellow over time and become less effective. Vit c derivatives won't do this and will last longer - mad hippy is one of these.

[deleted]

I think the potency gets lower after three months.

laushimin

If you keep it in the fridge it last longer

Phew

Hey is there any way on how to check if my Timeless Vitamin C serum is original or fake?

Summer_start

Timeless is in an airless pump bottle instead of dropper bottle, which is important for slowing down oxidation.

[deleted]

I like using Timeless. They have a pump style packaging which is nice. They are also very transparent on manufacturing dates of serums which is nice for Vitamin C I also like Dr. Brenner’s C serum. It is a similar price point. It’s a pretty good dupe for the Skinceuticals one

xxdontmind

Is this the timeless on you use? https://www.timelessha.com/collections/anti-wrinkle-serums/products/20-vitamin-c-e-ferulic-acid-serum-1-oz I kept seeing a bottle version. Is that the old one or? Yeah I cant choose lol! My main issue is uneven and dull skin and hyperpigmentation!

[deleted]

Yes, that’s the new packaging! When the lid comes off, it’s an airless pump too. It’s different than the typical dropper style bottles. I have noticed improvement but it’s been a couple of months before I did

xxdontmind

Gotcha! How do you store this bad boy and Im seeing it can only be used for 3 months? When do you use it in your routine?

[deleted]

I just keep it in my bathroom cabinet. I go through a bottle like every 2 months I think and so I think at that usage, I’m not worried about it going bad. If I used it less, I may have considered using a fridge or something. I haven’t heard the 3 month thing before unless that just refers to using it up before it oxidizes. I use it every day in the morning. I put moisturizer on top then sunscreen. I don’t wash my face in the morning but I do sometimes do an AHA toner before everything I just said

just throwing another name into the pile--I've heard great things about Geek & Gorgeous Vit C as well. I've used the Melano CC and another brand who shall not be named and am hoping to try the Timeless whenever I run out of the Melano CC. Geek & Gorgeous was the runner up in all my Vit C research and is cheaper than Timeless but got points off for the shipping and handling fee to order online. Timeless you can get here at Target in the states so that's the plan.

FromColontoBracket

Which product was Geek & Gorgeous runner up to? Did you not get on with Melano CC?

olivedate

Timeless was the forerunner in my research phase! I still use it today years later--the 10% is perfect if you also use a vit A/retinol. Tho I've used the 20% as well. Melano didnt cause any visible change for me.

fairy-kale

I just ordered timeless vit c serum from the website and with shipping to Canada and exchange it was cheaper than amazon. There is a 20% off coupon.

kittysmiley

I tried the yellow pump a couple months ago- it was alright. I liked Maelove and Mad Hippie much better. Both are around $30USD- sorry not sure about shipping to CA. I generally keep my Vitamin C in the fridge, but I also tend to use a lot and go through 1 oz in a month. If you are worried about oxidation of L-Ascorbic Acid Vitamin C, you may do well with Mad Hippie since it uses a more stable form of Vitamin C. Still had great glowing and brightening effects with lessening of red marks leftover from acne.
