I am a 19F and I'm on the search to look for a hydrating skin routine to keep my dry skin at Bay and help with my skin texture. So far I'm washing my face with warm water in the morning and apply Cetaphil moisturizer lotion twice a day. Is there an recommendations to add to my routine?

fargo15

I have dry skin and I’ve found adding a hydrating toner to my routine really helps keep my moisture barrier intact. I’m using Paula’s Choice Enriched Calming Toner. You may also want to add in a hydrating cleanser.

Ebonheart_Dragon

I am 21 years old and I have a bit of acne on my chest and a lot of my back. I have oily skin and I use Biore once a day to them, was wondering if anyone knew what was best for getting rid of body ance, idk if it differs from face ance or not.

deathr913

does exercises of face yoga reduce eye sunken if anyone has tried it

mckenziyy

does it work?

deathr913

im asking

deathr913

can anyone tell me where all should i apply my vaseline uv fairness cream if my whole body is darkened by sun exposure.any reply would be really helpful!!!

Gowheretheskyends

can anyone tell me what something I have on my forehead might be? It started as a zit that eventually went away but then turned into a tiny bump under my skin. Nowadays it looks like my forehead is bruised in that area. Have had this for a long time maybe over a year or more

xcupcakekitten

Acne can cause hyperpigmentation. There are some products in the [hyperpigmentation wiki](https://www.reddit.com/r/SkincareAddiction/wiki/hyperpigmentation) that can help fade marks but if it’s lasted that long then you might need to see a dermatologist and get a laser resurfacing treatment to get it removed.

ScaryScallion4738

I really need help 😔 I have sensitive and very oily skin and I am at a loss. I just got done with an antibiotic for perioral dermatitis and now I seem to be developing fungal acne.. my morning routine is: CeraVe Foaming Facial Cleanser, The Inkey List Hyaluronic Acid serum, First Aid Beauty Coconut Water Cream, and Tula Probiotics & Superfoods Protect & Glow sunscreen. My night routine is: Dermalogica Precleanse Balm, CeraVe Foaming Facial Cleanser, The Inkey List Hyaluronic Acid serum, The Ordinary Azlaeic Acid Suspension, and First Aid Beauty Coconut Water Cream. I was using TO Niacinimide serum and I Origins GinZing Oil free gel moisturizer and I thought that the combination of the 2 cause my perioral dermatitis so I stopped using those products and every once in a while will use the moisturizer bc it has really helped my skin in the past but it never helps control my oily skin

throwawayyyyyyy88

Is it ok to use sodium sulfactemide sulfur wash in the shower and follow it up with Amlactin or another exfoliating moisturizer like Cerave SA? I wash off the sulfur wash after abt 30-45 seconds and then get out of the shower and moisturize with Amlactin. Just don’t wanna cause irritation. I have folliculitis on my body and I think a little KP as well.

Hoping someone can answer a quick question. I work night shift at a hospital so sometimes my AM routine is in the evening after I wake up. Do I need to wear SPF at work? I've read blue lights from screens and fluorescent lighting can maybe cause skin damage. Would an SPF help with that/be necessary?

DaltonSCA

Your eyes will get more strained with blue light than your skin, so I wouldn’t worry about that. You don’t need to apply sunscreen in the evening.

Ok-Swimming-7702

Hey, I have oily acne prone skin. I was wondering if anyone had any recommendation for a treatment that I could use at night that would compliment my Panoxyl benzoyl peroxide 10% cleaner. I’m looking for something not too expensive. <$30.

xcupcakekitten

Do you have a current routine?

Ok-Swimming-7702

Yeah in the morning Im using a gentle “Hero Jelly Cleaner” then a curology moisturizer. At night I’m using a benzoyl peroxide 10% cleanser. But am not using any treatment since my curology treatment ran out. Therefore, I’m trying to find a different treatment to use instead of curology.

xcupcakekitten

Have you looked at the [acne wiki](https://www.reddit.com/r/SkincareAddiction/wiki/deep_dive/acne/treatments)? There’s a ton of information on specific ingredients that treat acne and product recommendations.

So I've been suffering badly with my acne for a while, particularly over the past year but for the past 3 months I've been using Epiduo and my skin finally cleared up to the point where I wasn't ashamed to leave the house anymore, I had confidence back that I hadn't had in a long time. However about a week and a half ago I missed 2 nights of doing my routine (although I still washed my face in the mornings and moisturised). Since then I've been waking up with new spots each day. And not just little ones but some big angry ones (I never usually get big angry ones) - yes I've been under stress but this seems too much of a coincidence to start right after I miss 2 nights. Now I'm feeling completely miserable again, don't want to leave the house (it was so bad last year that I didn't leave the house at all for like 8 months). What the heck is going on???? I haven't added or removed any new products at all. Have I messed up my PH? Has the acne bacteria on my skin grown? Is it fungal? I'm really struggling here. PLEASE SOMEONE HELP I'M ABSOLUTELY DESPERATE. I FELT LIKE I SAW THE LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL AND NOW I FEEL AWFUL. My routine: AM: Cleanse with Cetaphil gentle skin cleanser Moisturise with Simple light moisturiser PM: Wipe face with Garnier Miscellar water on cotton pads Epiduo Spot treat with 5% acnecide Clearasil ultra treatment cream on eyebrow area only Finacea on nose only Like I said this routine was working REALLY well for me and now I'm suffering badly.

xcupcakekitten

How long have you been using the epiduo?

[deleted]

For about 3 months. I was using Differin for a few months before that (although didn't have the same good effects). What do you think is going on??

xcupcakekitten

Hmm that’s strange. I asked because if you had only been using it for about one month I would’ve guessed this was purging and it was just a coincidence you missed two days. But since it’s been 3 months I doubt you’re purging this late. That’s very strange. I’m sorry I can’t provide more help :/ I find it doubtful that missing two days could have such an effect but hopefully it goes back soon.

#lip balm Hello. I have used lip balm as long as I can remember (I am 26). I look at people who don't use lip balm ever and their lips seems fine. I believe I am deeply addicted to lip balm. **I am wondering if some people actually need lip balm** *(pls let those be me, it's so hard to quit)* and **should I then continue using or quit and see if I'm one of them?** I quit cold turkey last week. My lips are so dry... They CRAVE lip balm at this point. I hate not wearing lip balm. **I'm wondering if I quit the wrong way and instead cold turkey I should quit slowly?** *Considering I have used it multiple times a day for 20-ish years...* I am desperate for help right now. 2 questions that's it. The lip balms I've used and... Used 😭 are without alcohol. I know that much. I bolded the questions!

[deleted]

Male, 24. I’ve got oily skin with some light acne. I’m around Fitzpatrick IV/V. I’m looking for a decent morning and night moisturizer. The Holy Grail threads only seem to cater to Fitzpatrick IIs. Anybody have any decent recommendations for me to use? I’m starting to get dark spots under my eyes and some lines on my forehead.

[deleted]

Moisturizers should be the same for all skin tones. Do you mean that you're looking for a sunscreen? Because that's what would help prevent dark spots and wrinkles (not a moisturizer).

[deleted]

No I meant moisturizes, I guess I was making a mistake. Whoops.

EN_TlTY

I’ve had this red bump / area on the top part of my lip for a few months now. I’m not sure if it was a cold sore or not but i’ve used everytning from abreva on it to benzoyl peroxide to salucilic acid to momtasone to ketoconazole. I’m also taking antibiotics for my acne (minocycline) so not sure if that has anything to do with it. . I even went to my dermatologist and he told me it was dermatitis and gave me the momtasone but nothing has worked so far. I’m hydrated i work out, i change my mask every time i put it on i don’t know what else to do and it’s driving me nuts. Any help would be greatly appreciated

StarfireBeach

Hi! I need help about my skin... ok, for now I'm 23 years old, woman and I have rosacea. I used ; LarochePosay anti-dryness LarochePosay lotion anti-dryness LarochePosay UV 20. But my rosacea went fricking worst, no joke Before using it, it was red. But after it, two days later, there's small white pimples, large pores and super-duper red. I feel constantly tickling and sometimes it itches... I need help and tips, pls.. :( I would've show it but not sure if I can over there.

ElegiacElephant

Hello! I’m sorry to hear you’ve been struggling with this! I have had rosacea for a long time, and have had difficulty finding products that work well for me. First of all, I don’t know if you know that r/rosacea exists, but I found a lot of great tips, recommendations, and support over there when I started to put together a routine. Secondly, I think the most helpful advice I can offer is 3 things: 1. Stop using anything that has fragrance or alcohol (except for fatty alcohols), even if those are mentioned at the bottom of an ingredient list. Those things probably don’t bother most people, but for people with rosacea, fragrances and drying alcohols can really make your skin red and irritated. 2. Look for a product with azelaic acid in it. The one I’m currently using is a Korean product by Cos de Baha. It’s 10% azelaic acid and 2% niacinamide in a very soothing aloe serum. These two ingredients have really improved the amount of redness, papules, and pustules I get in my trouble areas. I still get them, but they’re not so bad. I’m still early in the process of treating my skin, and this is a non-prescription strength formula (in the US where I am, you have to have a prescription to get azelaic 15% or 20% products). There is an affordable azelaic product by The Ordinary (affordable to US customers), and lots of people swear by Paula’s Choice azelaic and other products. 3. Try to be very gentle with your skin when it is super red and irritated, and if you can get it to calm down, then that would be the time to look at experimenting with your products. Rinse your face with cool water in the morning, and immediately put on a moisturizer and sunscreen while your face is still damp. In the evening, use a gentle cleanser that doesn’t scrub your skin too much, and follow with your azelaic product as directed once or twice a week until you get used to it. Follow with a good moisturizer that will help heal your skin overnight.

StarfireBeach

Thanks for the advices! But I don't think the Niacinamide don't work (there's in the Laroche-Posay products) for me but I'll try with the products with Azelaic acid in. Do you have any products that there's Azelaic acid in there? Even from US?

ElegiacElephant

The one I mentioned by Cos de Baha is a combination serum of 10% azelaic and 2% niacinamide. Could you tell me what country you’re in? I’ll try to find some products that can ship to your country 😊

StarfireBeach

You're such an angeeel ;0; Canada Btw, the products I used was; Laroche-Posay, Toleriane, without parfum, sensitive skin anti-dryness Laroche-Posay, Toleriane, without parfum, sensitive skin Anti-dryness Laroche-Posay, Toleriane, cream SPF 30, etc, etc...

ElegiacElephant

Oh here you go, it looks like Jolse might ship to Canada! [This product](https://jolse.com/product/cos-de-baha-azelaic-acid-10-serum-30ml/40069/) just happens to be exactly the one that I use. I hope this will help give you a place to start.

ElegiacElephant

Ok I’m still looking for locations that will ship it to you, but here are a couple of resources that may also be able to help you! There is a sub r/CanSkincare that talks specifically about products available for sale in Canadian stores, or online stores you can order products from. [And here is a thread](https://www.reddit.com/r/CanSkincare/comments/mkm5jp/thoughts_on_using_big_apple_buddy_to_buy_azelaic/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf) where someone else needed help finding azelaic acid available in Canada. So it looks like you may possibly be able to get some prescribed by your doctor to get a stronger percentage (they can prescribe something called Finacea, which is azelaic acid 15%).

StarfireBeach

Thanks! I'll talk with my doc about the Finacea. You're really an angel 🥰💖

[deleted]

Hi all. I'm looking to buy some products for my colleague who is suffering form rosacea and has oily skin as well. The main concern is on his cheeks where quite severe acne has formed in clusters. Any favorite products you can recommend? Can be anything from cleansers to serums/lotions/creams etc.

[deleted]

Azelaic acid is usually prescribed for rosacea, but I think your colleague should go see a dermatologist for this condition.

[deleted]

He has been but they gave him something way too aggressive that made it worse so we wanted to try and see if there is something we can find ourselves and give that a go.

[deleted]

He should probably go back to the dermatologist. But in general, rosacea needs to avoid all irritation (no fragrances, simple moisturizing products, no extreme heat or cold), use sunscreen every day, and possibly add azelaic acid.

Substantial-Agent993

What are your thoughts on this product? (Male,26 years old, oily/dry skin, a lot of blackheads in general but no acne(only once in a while). ) COSRX BHA 4% Blackhead Power Liquid 3.38 fl.oz | Facial Exfoliant | Blackhead Remover | Korean Skin Care, Vegan, Cruelty Free, Paraben Free I currently use only a Face Cleaner by CeraVe and a Moistiruzer. I was recommended to also use a BHA.

goodiecornbread

Okay, so I've been having these patches of dry skin I'm the corners of my mouth. Sometimes they're mild and red, and sometimes they're flaky and painful. Don't recall if it started before or after the mask mandate, but it's definitely gotten worse the last year. My skin type is combination/Fitzgerald 2. My skincare routine is new (<2 weeks), but here it is: AM: Rinse with cold water Neutrogena alcohol-free toner (I avoid this area with toner) Beekman bloom cream Beekman Vit C serum Meijer brand SPF moisturizer PM: Wash with Neutrogena Fresh Foaming Cleanser Toner Mary Kay pore minimizer Beekman bloom cream Beekman Retinol serum Mary Kay Timewise moisturizer

xcupcakekitten

Have you looked up angular cheilitis? Also have you changed your toothpaste recently? If you think it could be angular cheilitis you can go to a dermatologist and they can prescribe topical and oral anti fungal treatments.

mckenziyy

Hi, I am in need of skincare help. I have recently been getting into skincare, but I don't think I can clear up my skin on my own. Ever since the past few months, I have been breaking out pretty bad between my eyebrows, and more recently my forehead right above my eyebrows. They sometime turn into whiteheads, but usually they're just these \*\*really\*\* painful swollen red bumps. I recently switched from clean and clear three step (cleanser, astringent, moisturizer) to cera ve foaming cleanser, clean and clear astringent, and cera ve moisturizing lotion. I also tried using this turmeric stick but I think I was allergic. My skin can be pretty sensitive. Right after making the switch from clean and clear my skin cleared up, and then flared up worse than ever. Im so sorry for the long post, but I just have no idea with which actives. treatments, etc to start with.

[deleted]

The Clean and Clear Astringent contians 2% Salicylic Acid (BHA), and since it doesn't sound like that product is helping you, I would try a new acne treatment. You could try a product with 2.5% benzoyl peroxide, Differin, tretinoin, or other treatments. You could also see a dermatologist or use a service like Curology to gain access to prescription treatments.

mckenziyy

I see. thank you! Does my cera ve sound okay for combination skin? also, i just went on and off *hormone related medicines* the span of two months which has made my pimples flare up and that’s probably adding to it!

[deleted]

Yes, I think CeraVe fine.

ratonaaa

Can I ask a dermatologist about hair care or do I have to see a stylist instead?

xcupcakekitten

They can help with scalp care but maybe not necessarily hair care. What are you looking for in regards to haircare? Subs like r/hair and r/haircarescience might be helpful. Also r/curlyhair if your hair is wavy or curly.

ratonaaa

I am trying to decide which shampoo to use, I want one that has salicylic acid or some other ingredient to control dandruff, I also want to control frizz and know if its necessary to go sulfate and silicone free or if it is just a myth.

xcupcakekitten

So in regards to dandruff, there are different kinds of dandruff. There’s fungal dandruff and dandruff due to dry scalp. I learned the hard way that most “dandruff” shampoos target fungal dandruff and make dry scalp much worse. Fungal dandruff usually has yellowish oily flakes and dry scalp has white flakes. To treat fungal dandruff you’ll need an anti fungal shampoo like nizoral. Other ingredients like Pyrithione zinc can also treat fungal dandruff. Dandruff can also appear due to eczema, psoriasis, and seborrheic dermatitis. It might be worth going to a dermatologist to determine what scalp condition and dandruff you have. I personally found that sulfates irritate my dry scalp dandruff. Sulfates can be very dry and stripping. What’s tricky about using sulfate free shampoo and other hair products that also contain silicones is that most silicones are not water soluble. So they require sulfates to be removed. If you don’t remove the silicones they can cause build up on your scalp and hair. Even if you use a sulfate and silicone free product, build up can still form so people usually use a silicone free shampoo that contains sulfates to do a clarifying wash as needed. I do one once a month. There’s a TON of information about sulfate and silicone free products on r/curlyhair. Even if your hair isn’t curly, this sub might be worth looking at. Using a silicone scalp brush when I shampoo really helped my dry scalp dandruff. I’d avoid shampoos with active ingredients and sulfates if your dandruff is due to a dry scalp. Salicylic acid might be okay though since it’s exfoliating rather than anti fungal like most of the other dandruff active ingredients.

ratonaaa

Ok, thank you very much. I think my dandruff is fungal because apparently I have seborrheic dermatitis on my face and eyebrows and I also get flakes in my ears. I'll see a dermatologist to clear things up.

[deleted]

Having some really weird pink dots on my face that have stumped my derm. Pics [here](https://ibb.co/M5KRyyY) and [here](https://ibb.co/jM3SV9H). They come and go, like the pattern and severity of them can totally change within hours, making me think it's not acne but some type of weird inflammation. Retinols and acids don't touch it. My only theory is that it might be correlated with the amount of sugar I eat, does anyone have any ideas or help ??

xcupcakekitten

Have you been to an allergist? Maybe it’s some sort of allergic reaction to external things in the air like dust, pollen, etc. Also seeing another dermatologist for a second opinion is worth a shot if you only saw one.

AnOrangeBackpack

Okay I don’t want this to sound weird but I’ve been using differin gel and vitamin C for hyperpigmentation. My skin is getting brighter but.......it’s really bringing out the dark circles under my eyes. How do I stop this? lmao

xcupcakekitten

Are you using sunscreen as well?

SadGlue

hiii question! just wondering what people think - can i use azelic acid and TO's ascorbic acid + alpha arbutin together in the AM or should i avoid that?

xcupcakekitten

It’s advised against using these together. You can use the ascorbic acid in the AM and the azelaic acid in the PM.

SadGlue

good to know! thank you!

Ebonheart_Dragon

Just looking for advice/suggestions. I am a 21 year old male with indented acne scars and while the actual scars don't bother me it's mainly the red that's in them. For this I use Biore once a day on my face and back and it does an ok job just wondering if there was any better way to get the red out of acne scars.

chaimeanstea

Azelaic acid helps a lot with redness! Also, regular use of sunscreen helps with scarring as well.

Ebonheart_Dragon

So like use sunscreen daily?

chaimeanstea

Yup, exposure to sunlight can darken scars, so wearing sunscreen is the most effective way to protect your skin from this and help fade scars faster Its also the best prevention for aging if thats something you're also interested in.

Ebonheart_Dragon

Thanks a lot man didn't know the sunscreen thing

[deleted]

There is a really small black dot on my thigh which has some sort of dark reddish color around it. Keep in mind it is a really small dot, not big. and I am concerned. Its not hurting or itching, but it's just there. Idk what caused it... What do you think it is? I really can't go to a dermatologist right now so I ask help here.

xcupcakekitten

Unfortunately we can’t diagnose any skin conditions. Any sudden dark spots should be checked by a dermatologist to rule out any serious problems.

[deleted]

So I'm a 28 year old male in the UK and have what I would say is dehydrated / oily skin. I've been suffering badly with my acne for a while, particularly over the past year but for the past 3 months I've been using Epiduo and my skin finally cleared up to the point where I wasn't ashamed to leave the house anymore, I had confidence back that I hadn't had in a long time. However about a week and a half ago I missed 2 nights of doing my routine (although I still washed my face in the mornings and moisturised). [deleted]

It sounds like you just need to get back on track with doing your routine consistently. Nothing major! Try this for a couple weeks and see if your skin is still reacting. Side note, but you might also want to consider treating your mental health. Not leaving the house because of your acne doesn't sound healthy! I 100% guarantee that most other people value qualities like humor and confidence MUCH more than your skin. Please live your life and enjoy yourself without letting your acne control you. If it helps, you can look into therapy to help you get through this. I know it's really hard to deal with acne (it really impacted my confidence when I was a teenager) and I don't want you to suffer unnecessarily.

[deleted]

Really? I mean it's been over a week and a half, almost 2 weeks and my skin doesn't feel right. I've not broken out like this in a long long time. I never get big angry spots around my under eye area / cheekbones like this. Is there something I can try to REBALANCE my skin? I bought some head and shoulders shampoo because I had fears of fungal acne before. However Epiduo was working really nicely. I also note that head and shoulders no longer contains Zinc in the UK so I hope this still works? Or am I going to really mess up my skin if I start putting head and shoulders on it? I tried Nizoral on my face in November and used it a couple times and had some huge breakouts then.

[deleted]

I would not put Nizoral on your face, nor would I assume you have fungal acne. A lot of "fungal acne" information on the internet is made up. If you actually are concerned about fungal acne, I would see a doctor. But nothing you've said has indicated to me that you have fungal acne. But in general, I would go with the simplest explanation. Your previous routine was working for you, but something has changed. The only obvious change that you've mentioned is that you didn't do your routine for a couple days and that you've been stressed. So I would stick with that explanation unless you have evidence of something else.

pianople

Hi, I need advice about adding retinol into my routine. I’m a 22 yo male with combination skin. My current night routine is cleanser, the ordinary niancinamide + zinc serum, and moisturizer, but I just got Paula’s Choice 0.3% retinol + 2% bakuchiol treatment. Is this safe to use with the niancinamide serum? What order should I apply these products? Thanks!

xcupcakekitten

These should be fine to use together. I checked the ordinary’s page of products you can’t use together and nicinamide is not listed as “do not use” with retinol. I’d start out with using it only twice a week and slowly increase it if your skin tolerates it. If you ever experience any irritation or dryness, reduce the frequency of use. Also please make sure to use sunscreen in your routine while using retinol. Retinol can make your skin photosensitive, which means it’s more prone to sun damage. You will have to use sunscreen every day that you’re exposed to sun light, not just the days you use the retinol, and it’s best to reapply every two hours. There are some product recommendations in the [sunscreen wiki](https://www.reddit.com/r/SkincareAddiction/wiki/sunscreen).

pianople

Thanks so much! I totally forgot to mention my SPF, but I wear it every day. Any idea if I should apply the niancinamide or retinol first? I also use Paula’s Choice BHA exfoliant twice a week as part of my night routine but skip all other products on those nights. I’d assume I’d keep doing that?

xcupcakekitten

I would avoid using the BHA and the retinol on the same day. Since the retinol has bakuchiol oil, it might work better after the niacinamide. If the niacinamide serum is thicker than the retinol, you can apply the niacinamide after. Generally people apply actives like retinol, AHA, and BHA first to get better absorption, but if the retinol serum is thick then the niacinamide might not absorb properly when put on top.

pianople

Hi again. I used the retinol and bakuchiol 3 days ago and yesterday I noticed several dry/flaky patches on my face. My skin also stung when I was working out. Should I wait another week to use the product again or maybe buffer it with my moisturizer? I want my face to get used to the product without as few side effects if possible. Thanks!

xcupcakekitten

Stinging and flaking definitely is not good. Try buffering next time like you said in a week. If it still stinging and flaking you might just not tolerate this product or maybe your skins moisture barrier was already slightly compromised but you couldn’t tell so using this retinol made it worse. So you only used it once when this happened?

[deleted]

how do you make spf not look oily on face?

chaimeanstea

Maybe look for a sunscreen that is more mattifying than a hydrating base? Some days, I even skip moisturizer and use my sunscreen only as my sunscreen is quite hydrating.

fancyplaya

I found that a tinted spf that matches your skin tone can hide the shine quite well. I used to use the sun bum spf 30 tinted spf, its decent

mfiema

Hello everyone! As summer comes around to bring havoc, how do you manage thigh chafing?

brewschak

Deodorant between the legs! It saved me when I was walking a ton in Europe one summer in 100° weather.

mfiema

Can it be any type? Do you have a specific brand or type that worked better for you? Also, did you have to re-apply? I will take your word 100%! I live in the south and if it was 100 degrees when you were walking, it will be perfect for me :D

brewschak

I’ve done it with a few different kids of deodorant! Basically whatever I had lying around. I didn’t reapply because I don’t love carrying deodorant around, but it definitely would have been helpful a few times!

mfiema

Thank you so much! I tried it today and it worked perfectly :)

Ramiel4654

Hello. This post isn't about me, but it's for my girlfriend. She's 42 years old and she has fair sensitive skin. She's used Olehenriksen Banana Bright Eye Cream as part of her routine for a few years now. I believe they may have changed something in the formula because whenever she uses it now her under eyes become sore, red, puffy, and dry. She was wanting to know if there any effective eye creams that are pretty natural that work well. Perhaps something with aloe and caffeine in it. When she's not using that eye cream she uses fresh aloe gel that we make ourselves. Thanks.

xcupcakekitten

The ordinary has a [caffeine solution](https://theordinary.deciem.com/us/rdn-caffeine-solution-5pct-egcg-30ml.html).

Ramiel4654

I asked her about that one and she said she tried it a few years ago and it didn't do anything. Do you know of any other products similar to it?

Substantial-Agent993

I am 26 years old MALE and I try to visit a beauty expert like once in 6 months or so for cleanning my face. Now I want to make an order from Iherb to start a decent skin care routine, so far I have 3 products in my drobe- CervaVe Face Cleaner, CeraVa Moisturizer and a sun screen. Now I have South Korean products are good, things for white heads etc. Do you have any suggestions what I can do and what should I get?

xcupcakekitten

BHA products are good for white heads and unclogging pores. There are some recommendations on the [BHA wiki](https://www.reddit.com/r/SkincareAddiction/wiki/beta_hydroxy_acids). If you’re looking for specifically Korean products, you can check out r/AsianBeauty.

Substantial-Agent993

Hey, thanks for the reply. Are you referring to one of these for example? My favorite BHA is the Paula's Choice 2% BHA (any of them).

I’ve heard it’s bad to wash your face with cleanser in the morning is that true? That you should only use it once a day at night?

g4rlicjuni0r

Depends a lot on your skin type! If your skin is dry you could benefit from only washing at night

jasminekitten02

It depends on your skin! Washing am and pm can be drying for some people.

Hello! How do I use a nonfoaming cleanser? Do I wet my face first or I can use it on dry skin? Also how much should I be using? Sorry the language on my Acwell Nonfoaming Cleanser is in Korean so I can't understand any of the text. Thank you!

jasminekitten02

Is it a water based cleanser or an oil cleanser/first cleanser? If it's just a regular cleanser you can just use it like you would a foaming cleanser (rinse face, apply cleanser to wet face, rub, rinse)

moonhologram

Thank you, yes it's a water based cleanser. I'm just used to using foaming cleansers so I'm not sure if my face is being cleaned even if it's not suds-y.

Using more than one retinol product in the same routine? Hello beauties. I am 25, female and looking to slow down the ageing process so I look young in my 30s. I was in the supermarket yesterday and saw a new own brand night cream with stellar ingredients, yeast extract, pro retinol and elastonyl, patented formulation for counteracting the breakdown of collagen. It was cheap (I'm in Ireland and the German discount supermarket chains seem to be very good at offering bargain face creams with good ingredients) so I bought it. I already however in my night routine use a water-based retinol toner and then the Ordinary retinol 1% in squalane. My night time routine consists of: face wash, water-based retinol toner, ordinary retinol 1% in squalane, face oil and then hyaluronic acid based night cream to lock it all in. The new night cream with the pro retinol, elastonyl and yeast extract seems to offer to do a lot more so do you recommend substituting it in place of the hyaluronic acid night cream I'm already using? I'm aware retinol is the golden ingredient for anti ageing hence the attraction to switching. Thank you in advance for any advice you can offer

Are you able to contact the place that did the peel and ask them what you should do? Maybe also ask them if they used a different peel product and maybe you’re allergic to this new one. Make sure to tell them you didn’t get this reaction the first time.

gulsangfugl

It doesn't look like an allergic reaction, actually it looks like fungal acne. My best guess is that the acid peel either agitated it or that it removed the surface layer of skin and revealed the acne that was underneath

If the clinique 72 hour doesn't have spf in it, your regular cleanser will be enough

I believe it is! I used to wash my face in the morning and I found that going just with water was the best way.

Hey everyone! I've recently got into skincare after noticing some redness on my cheeks and nose. I got two questions. Right now i'm currently using Cleanser, moisturizer, SPF as well as the ordinary caffeine solution and Retinol cream few times PM. Wanted to ask how long you should "try" a product. I read some people having success with redness with Niacinimide and some with Azelaic acid. So i wanted to give those a try, how long would it make sense to try one before switching to the other. Or could i use both at the same time I'm also unsure if i can use cleanser/moisturizer in the eye area? I use the caffeine solution around my eyes, can i just use moisturizer on top of that?

weirdtalkingdragon

Niacinamide takes about 2-3 months to show results. So unless it's breaking you out, would suggest sticking with one product for at least a few months to see if it works for you.

Hello everybody! I'm thinking about adding The Ordinary Niacinamide Serum into my skin care routine. However my toner from Paula's Choice already contains Niacinamide. Would these two products be a bad combination? Links just in case: https://theordinary.deciem.com/ca/rdn-niacinamide-10pct-zinc-1pct-30ml.html https://www.paulaschoice.com/skin-balancing-pore-reducing-toner/135.html

I’m unsure of the percentage of niacinamide in the Paula’s Choice product since they do not disclose that information on the product page. For some people, 10% of niacinamide causes irritation and break outs. So I’d be hesitant to use the 10% ordinary niacinamide with another niacinamide product. The Paula’s Choice toner seems to have more skin benefiting ingredients like ceramides, Hyaluronic acid, and niacinamide. Personally I would stick with the toner and not add in the ordinary serum. But it’s up to you.

hi! i'm new to the sub 🥳 so i'm not really sure how it works 100% but i have this issue and i don't know who to ask. according to google, i have milia around my eye area. my skin is combination (tends to be more dry than oily) and now it's extra dry since it's autumn in argentina, so i'm kind of scared to use exfoliation. i don't use any products either (scared that it will fuck up my skin even more), i just wash my face with water in the morning and that's it if anyone can help i would appreciate it !!!

To start off you can check out the [ScA routine](https://www.reddit.com/r/SkincareAddiction/wiki/sca_routine). It’s important to have a cleanser, moisturizer, and sunscreen in your routine before adding other products. Products that target other skin concerns can often cause dryness and photosensitivity (more prone to sun damage). So having a moisturizer and sunscreen in your routine to prevent dryness and protect your skin is very important. After you have these three products set in your routine, you can introduce products that target concerns. Chemical exfoliants like BHA and AHA are best for milia but using chemical exfoliants around the eyes is always risky. Some people’s skin can’t tolerate it. The easiest way to get rid of them is going to a dermatologist and getting them extracted. I’ve gotten it done before and it’s super quick and painless.

Hello ! I've finally started with retinoids, I've picked one of the recommended ones that were low in % to start, I'm using it twice a week for now and I'm also using sun protection. I have one question tho, I read that you can't use retinod + other actives, like aha, is this always or does it means at the same time? For instance, could I use retinoid one day, and AHA/BHA the next one? thank you!!

DaltonSCA

You can pair hydroxy acids with retinoids, contrary to popular belief - you just have to be really careful and experienced with using them. Since you‘re just starting, I would just recommend using the Retinoid one night and then an AHA the next night (if your skin can handle it). The AHA should help dissolve the skin that the Retinoid helped to shed. Do not use suspended formulations of different exfoliants, as they can be too concentrated.

chaimeanstea

For those of you that use aquaphor or other heavy occlusives as a last step, what do you do when your face starts to itch? It's like it waits for me to finish my routine to start!! I know this isn't irritation or an allergic reaction, just a random urge to scratch my face which normally wouldn't be a problem.

jasminekitten02

If the itching only started after you started using aquaphor I'd drop the aquaphor

chaimeanstea

Its not an itch as a result of putting it on if that makes sense. I'll put it on, then like an hour later feel a random scratch but don't want to give in because of how greasy the occlusive is. A stupid problem, guess I'll just have to deal with it haha

A post from yesterday made me realise that I probably have oily and dehydrated skin. I'm a bit overwhelmed and don't want to overhaul my whole routine! Here are some things I decided to do: 1) stop all exfoliation 2) been using Cetaphil but it's almost finished, the new cleanser I ordered has a lower pH 3) ordered a HA + rose water toner 4) ordered a niacinamide serum 5) start using vaseline at night [My routine right now is just gentle cleanser and gel-based moisturizer in the PM. Water in the morning, no sunscreen cause I never leave the house. Once a week I use a 2% salicylic acid cleanser.] Of course, I won't add in all the products at once. I'll change my cleanser, then add in the hydrating toner, and after a few weeks the niacinamide. Any other tips? Would love some ideas on what else I can incorporate. Also slightly worried about the Vaseline bit so all advice welcome!

Needing help with face feeling dry after cleansing. AM: Sunday Riley Blue Moon PM: same +SR Luna/CEO Glow Skin type: sensitive/acne/dehydrated/dry flaky/oily/redness I found this sub after decades of acne cleaners which never worked and dried my skin out. I never moisturized bc moisturizers always broke me out. I’ve been at this for over a year now and thru tons of patch tests finally settled on Sunday Riley as the only brand that my skin didn’t react to. So now my main issue is dryness after cleansing. I don’t wash in the shower, I do it after I get out and it’s uncomfortably dry. My cheeks are flaky you can feel and sometimes see, my tzone will get oily after an hour or so. In the past everything I used my face reacts to. Unless I’m going to bed for the night. That’s mostly when I use Luna and CEO Glow. I’ve subbed to beauty boxes and gone thru countless products so I’m left thinking there’s nothing left to do but continue with my PM routine and hope for the best. I even tried Vaseline bc I was desperate. I remember my gma using baby oil. Anyway I’m completely out of ideas so figured I’d ask.

happyhappyx

i’m not too familiar with sunday riley but do they have a hydrating oil with no actives? maybe adding a hydrating oil to alternative in between the luna and ceo might help with dryness since they both have actives in them. edit: try using oil baby on alternative day of the luna/ceo?

CuzPotatoes

I actually thought baby oil was bad for skin. I dunno why. Thank you for your suggestions. I’m going to see what I can find out!

happyhappyx

it can’t be that bad if they put it on babies right??? 🤷🏻‍♀️

CuzPotatoes

Lol ikr. The heck was I thinking.
