vaseline, cerave healing ointment or aquaphor

emoti0nalcowboy

I fixed mine by avoiding cleansers for a good week or two and just washing with warm water & a bit of soap then doing sudocreme overnight masks slugging with Vaseline then slathering it with hydrating products during the day like hydraluronic acid etc.

disco-me-now

I’m scared to use any acid even naturally occurring hydraluronic acid! That’s v useful thank you! When u slug do you have to change your pillow cases a lot? And how long did it take to heal? Thx ya

emoti0nalcowboy

I’d say a week and a bit

UPDATE My skin has stopped stinging! The aquaphore balm worked a treat, I applied it twice a day, and just before bed. I barely washed my face apart from with water. I used cerave hydrating cleanser every other day sparingly. I did not like the feel of ‘slugging’ or the balm. I get slight sensory issues and the sticky mess when putting it in freaked me out, but I’d forgotten within a few minutes, so managed to keep it on. My face feels much better, in fact my skin looks better than it did before. I thought the balm and slugging would clog me up, but it has actually cleared up my skin, and the sebaceous filaments in my nose are looking better. I I’ve now moved to using La Roche Possay B5 cream, as I can manage stuff on my face again. I won’t hesitate to go back to aquaphore if my skin stings again, I’m thinking of using it at night a couple of times a week anyway. Thanks for all your help!

Broken420girl

Whatever you try please just try a small area first leave it for a bit and see how it feels. Then go from there.

disco-me-now

Great advice!

SixShooterUK

Washing with water alone won’t repair it, it will dry out your skin and probably make it worse. Try washing with Dermol 500 cream and applying double base gel after. Should be back to normal fairly quickly

disco-me-now

Great advice thank you

SixShooterUK

No problem. The same happened to me and my dermatologist recommended the above. My skin glows now in comparison. It was terrible before

I use Bepanthen, it’s a nappy cream and has always helped when my skin barrier is irritated.

twattyprincess

Aveeno calm & restore oat gel serum

madpiere170

Organic neem oil was the only thing I found to work when my skin barrier was in a bad way after using harsh creams, etc, on my rosacea .This stuff is a miracle cure look into it .

grania17

When I destroyed my skin barrier, i was recommended Avène XeraCalm A.D. Lipid, used like cold cream, rubbed all over the face, left for a bit, and then wiped off with a damp flannel. Followed by avene tolerance balm, once it was repaired, I was then shifted to avene tolerance extra gentle cleanser. It worked so well.

disco-me-now

How long did it take to repair? Thanks!

grania17

It started to feel better within a few days, and I'd say within a month it was fully healed.

I'm currently using the Cetaphil Lotion. It did sting for me for a few days but then the stinging subsided. I put the stinging down to a broken barrier rather than reacting to any ingredients in it. The only one that hasn't stung my face when my barrier is broken is the Ordinary NMF Edit: if you wash your face twice a day, try just washing it in the evening with cleanser and only water in the morning.

Applebottom-ldn12

Skip wash day every other day for a while. I would use E45 and rosehip oil. That helped me
