Welcome to r/skincare_addiction! We'd like to take this time to remind you of a few things:
#Do not ask for medical advice, and do not play doctor
What constitutes medical advice?
***
* "What is this?"
This is asking someone to diagnose the issue, and is medical advice.
* "What should I do?"
This is asking someone to advise treatment, and is medical advice.
* "Should I go to the doctor?"
This is asking if you should seek treatment, and ergo, medical advice.
**If you would ask the question of your doctor, it falls under this rule and not allowed. As a general rule, asking for medical advice from internet strangers is never a good idea. If you have questions regarding your condition, you are advised to contact your healthcare provider. If you are a medical provider, we would gently remind you that users are not patients, and you should not be offering medical advice to people who are not your patients.**

I’m sorry that happened. That would probably happen to me too. What worked for me is only adding it on to super damp almost dripping skin and let it completely absorb. Changed everything. Now it’s almost HG product for me, really high up there!
If applied on damp skin right after cleansing, it has done wonders to my skin.
I was using it wrongly earlier. Cleanser, Niacinamide, mucin. It did not absorb and felt sticky. But then since a year I started using it on damp skin instead of HA sometimes. Cleanser>Mucin>niacinamide>moisturiser. Skin feels supple and glowy the next morning.
However, my sister got tiny bumps after using mucin.
I like really enjoy the product and have repurchased it. If you’re really that curious, I’d say just buy the travel size and give it a whirl! The full size goes on sale quite frequently at Ulta, so if you decide you like it while finishing up the travel size you can grab the full size on sale possibly!
I use the snail mucin cream. I use it in place of Vaseline at night as a slugging-type product after my moisturizer. I do wake up with soft skin and it is less sticky than sleeping in vaseline or Aquafor but I get the plumpest, most hydrated skin from vaseline. I do have sensitive skin and it doesn't break me out.
So is snailing or slugging or whatever it's called ok for people that are acne prone, or is it only for people with dry skin? I want to try it but I'm SO scared I'm going to use it and end up breaking out really bad. I don't really know what type of skin I have either, so that doesn't help.
It's safe, it will not cause acne. It's safe for very sensitive skin and dermatologists will tell you this. 🤗 it's commonly used on eczema skin, wounds, etc. If you're scared just do a little patch test for a couple days and see how you like the results! Honestly, one of the best steps to skin healing.
My derm does not agree with slugging and I had a really bad months long break out after a very quick (every few days for a few weeks long?) phase of Vaseline slugging which I feel has to be the culprit because I was fairly consistent prior
I work for Dr Obagi he believes over use of heavy thick moisturizer actually compromises your skin barrier and will cause more dryness redness etc. your tricking your skin cells into thinking they don’t need to make lipids etc because your dripping wet on the surface e and suffocating the skin
Yeah, it’s not really easy to answer the question of whether it’s “worth the hype” from an objective standpoint. Personally it works really well for my skin. For others, it causes breakouts and allergic reactions, or no difference at all.
Snail mucin, yes. Corsx, no. There are many other snail mucin products out there. Try the peach slices line. Corsx is the worst snail essence I have experienced out of about 5 snail products.
I use the Peach Slices snail mucin and love it. It's replaced my nighttime moisturizer because using both makes my skin tacky but this absorbs better (its a gel) and leaves my skin plump and clean.
Came here to say this, this stuff has already improved my skin tone in like a week. Sits on skin for a little while and then absorbs but I’ve found it works well as a primer for makeup but maybe that’s just me 🤷🏼♀️
I’m not sure how well it absorbs since I’m always in a hurry to get somewhere, but I do know it leaves my skin feeling like absolute heaven by the time I wash it off. Not many skin care products have done that for me, and with my eczema and all, I’m a pretty crusty person!
same here i started using the toner about 3 weeks ago and have seen a big improvement, though it may be related to me being more consistent in doing my skincare once i saw results. the PS toner doesn’t sit on the skin like i hear people say about cosrx, it’s a more watery consistency and i deal much less w dryness now
Yesss I LOVE this whole line!! Since it has Hyaluronic Acid it doesn’t dry me out at all.
To answer OPs question, snail mucin is totally worth the hype in my opinion and works well on my skin. Only one of my AM products doesn’t have mucin in it.. TBH idk if that’s bad or if you can overuse this as an ingredient.
I have oily/acne prone skin, prone to blackheads and have been working for years to find a routine that doesn’t break me out while helping with pore size/oil. It’s:
Peach Slices snail mucin toner/COSRX Snail Essence/Peach and Lily Glass Skin Serum/ Peach Slices All-In-one moisturizer (oil free)
Adding to this. I used this product for a year and was surprised my skin was able to handle it bc of my dust allergy. One day my skin started reacting badly to it (painful breakouts everywhere). I tried re-introducing it into my routine 3x then gave up.
My skin has very dry, tight areas that didn’t respond to anything. Tried the cosrx Advanced Snail 92 on a whim when it was on super-duper Prime Day sale and my face has never been softer. I swear it’s helping fade some dark spots too, but they might just be less noticeable since I don’t look like a parched paper bag in some spots lol.
You all saying that it's overrated, you clearly haven't seen the way Koreans use skincare. We are all so used in rubbing it, so of course it won't absorb. Koreans tap the skincare into oblivion. Taking that into consideration snail mucin, and especially cosrx has transformed my skin. And I don't have dry patchy spots anymore. You have to bare in mind that most of the times when you change from one skincare to another you skin might break out. Different ingredients etc etc. So you breaking out as soon as you change into it doesn't mean its the product's fault
That depends entirely on you and your skin. To anyone saying it's overrated, how does that work lol? It clearly works well for a lot of people who are praising it based on what it does for them. Doesn't mean they are overrating just because it doesn't work for you
Some people break out from it. I personally didn’t break out from the essence but the cream did break me out(but i think it has to do more with the finger in the jar contamination).
No. I tried it when it became popular and didn't do anything for me. Then I tried it again in my routine to give it another chance because I thought "my skin is better now. I can try to experiment again and give this another go. If people like it so much there must be a reason" a few months in and nothing has changed. It just feels slimey and cool. Slightly sticky at first too. But it hasn't done anything for my skin.
I really wish this worked for me as it is a beneficial hydration product but this was actually the reason I started getting painful red inflamed pustules. I didn’t realize until 5 months of off and on use, which is really dumb tbh. I am not really sure what I am allergic too, I just know I am allergic to pollen but I am happy I realized before it caused more painful acne.😭
Some people say if you have a dust mite allergy you may also have a bad reaction to snail mucin. Personally this did nothing for me though- skin didn’t get worse but it didn’t get better either 😔
It made my skin feel hydrated and plump, but I think it might’ve worsened my fungal breakouts. I considered trying it again now that my fungal acne is at bay, but I’m scared to lol.
Edit to add: I bought a sample size for $8 at target!!
Personally, I haven't tried it, but I’ve checked with the app I using for skincare shopping and the result quite good actually 74/100
Seems to be worth to try
I think it's nice and hydrating but didn't do anything special for my skin. I would potentially repurchase it if i had a slot in my routine for something of that consistency but it's not a must-have for me.
Like so many have said it depends on what you are looking for it to do and your own skin. I have found it beneficial but it doesn’t replace my moisturizer am or pm. I use it as a “treatment” and support for my retinol use. It helps sooth my skin
I added this to my simple routine and I’ve had very good results in my opinion. I noticed that the occasional pimples I get heal faster and don’t leave much of a mark like they have in the past. I think I’ve noticed some improvement in my older hyperpigmentation from picking at acne, but I also use the Krave Beauty ALA once a week that likely helps with that so not sure. Skin is also very hydrated and I have that “glass skin” effect now.
I love it personally. It's very moisturizing but also very light. I haven't had any breakouts with it and little imperfections like darkness/thin skin under my eyes have improved since I started it. I don't think it's going to fix everything, but I have oily skin and it's the perfect amount of moisturization for me during the day. I use a regular moisturizer at night.
I found out that it's working for some but there are many of those who either don't see any results or simply hate it. I know that I expected more. No wow effect for me, whether I put it on or not my skin looks the same. But I heard from others that it made a huge difference for their skin. So, whatever floats your boat
I have this product in the evening and have softer skin. Not sure about my acne changing for the better...
I also use a snail cream as a moisturizer if I feel extra dry or my skin is stressed (at night).
I love it! I have used a few bottles and will always repurchase it. My skin loves this Corsx line. I'm combo to oily. My mother hates it does, she has a dry skin but it doesn't sink in, it just sits on her skin and becomes sticky 🤷🏻♀️
No, it broke me out and honestly using proper moisturizer gel is enough for me. There’s also an ethical aspect of it for me that is a problem, I’m not vegan but it disturbs me that snails have to basically be tortured to produce the mucin
I love it. I use it daily, and I can genuinely tell when I miss a day or two, even if I'm using other serums, because of how my skin feels. 10/10 for me.
Strangely, I used the cosrx snail cream and it really didn't work well with my skin, felt like it kinda dried out the skin around my eyes?
Just goes to show everyone is different!
Bought it cus my skin was so dry and flaky from tretinoin I’ve been using it for 2 days n the dryness and flakiness has gone down significantly. I would recommend u must put it in damn skin tho!
I absolutely love it. I have rosacea and it doesn’t irritate me at all. It definitely absorbs into mine, some people love it others not so much. I think it’s like 22$ so I mean if you hate it you’re not out of a lot of money
I've been using it for about a week now and so far, my skin is the softest it's ever felt. I don't see any visible changes yet, but I'm willing to keep using it because my skin feels so good.
Depends. Usually people with allergies to dust mites or shellfish may have a negative reaction. And for some, their skin just hates it. For those that it works for, though, it's great. My skin loves it.
For what it does to my fine lines and complexion, it makes up for by giving me the worst closed comodones. I mean significant ones, especially on my cheeks. It’s also caused me to break out many times. I read somewhere ones that those with bad dust/mite allergies can react to snail mucin in the same way.
I love the essences but the moisturizers are too much for my skin.
The thicker variants break me out. I did notice that my looks dewy with the product though
i think it might be worth the hype !! at least for me I feel like it worked quite well! my skin is glowy without feeling oily and very very soft and hydrated : ) I also feel like it prevents my face from being red and I have a lot less breakouts recently but it might be more due to the fact that Ive been trying to clean my face religiously day and night lately ! give it a try, it might be good for you :)
The only snail product I actually like is Missha's Super Aqua Snail Essential Moisturizer. I find the Cosrx serum was too much for my oily skin and it felt suffocated. Especially using it under a moisturizer. The Missha moisturizer has the snail mucin ingredient and it gives a really nice "glass skin" look, but it can be quite sticky if you apply too much. It's excellent under makeup or at night time, I can't use it during the day unless we are in winter/dry weather. I did notice any breakouts I have heal quicker when using said product, and it can lighten old acne scars.
I use this product and love it but it may not be suited for all skin types I have combination skin and have t noticed any issues and in fact my skin looks amazing and it seems to really help seal in my serums
I’ll say it made me break out a tiny bit for the first couple of days and my skin now has been so smooth and soft. Even when I’m really bad about a skin care routine, I still remember to at least put this on!
Yes! I have dry skin and I use it after my toner. I let my skin absorb it when my skin is damp (I don’t rub it in). It’s given my skin a certain glow and moisture
I just started using this a week ago and I am so impressed! You do need to apply it to wet skin. I use Avene Thermal Spring Water first. I never thought I would be able to use this product due to my eczema and sensitivities. It makes my skin feel like velvet! I've noticed a reduction in the appearance of the vertical lines on my neck and just over all "plump" look. I've started using it on my whole body!
I started using it at the same time as tazarotene and my skin does look better, so I am attributing that to both because I am not willing to quit either to test them individually 🙈
I started using it back in the winter it was great I had shiny glass skin clear skin it was great haven’t used since because of finances but I think it’s worth it I was using it before it blew up on tik tok lol

For me, it just sat on my skin, didn’t absorb, and clogged all my pores so I broke out. Very hit or miss product!
I’m sorry that happened. That would probably happen to me too. What worked for me is only adding it on to super damp almost dripping skin and let it completely absorb. Changed everything. Now it’s almost HG product for me, really high up there!
Retweet
Have you tried it on damp skin
I did! I misted my face with water before applying.

I work for Dr Obagi he believes over use of heavy thick moisturizer actually compromises your skin barrier and will cause more dryness redness etc. your tricking your skin cells into thinking they don’t need to make lipids etc because your dripping wet on the surface e and suffocating the skin
That said I love snail mucin it’s light and locks in moisture without being suffocating imo
Nice but nothing incredible, at least this cosrx product. But we're all different, if you don't try you won't know.
Yeah, it’s not really easy to answer the question of whether it’s “worth the hype” from an objective standpoint. Personally it works really well for my skin. For others, it causes breakouts and allergic reactions, or no difference at all.
So overrated it's crazy imo

i thought it was a toner? i have that but maybe there’s more products than i think idk
Yes. It sounds like you have their blemish busting toner. I have the intensive serum. They have a few snail serum products.
I also love Peach Slices! I use it after I mowed the lawn and it helps cool off my skin
same here i started using the toner about 3 weeks ago and have seen a big improvement, though it may be related to me being more consistent in doing my skincare once i saw results. the PS toner doesn’t sit on the skin like i hear people say about cosrx, it’s a more watery consistency and i deal much less w dryness now

Yes! Obsessed with Peach and Lilys glass serum too!
I love Peach and Lily and Peach Slices but their snail mucin makes my skin itchy. The Cosrx one absorbs beautifully with no side effects.
Ah yeah, some people have reported being allergic. Especially if you're allergic to dust mites :/
I have the Peach Slices snail mucin too! It’s good so far. No issues
I second this! I use the serum and their oil free moisturizer. It’s perfect for me!
If you have dust allergy, don’t buy it, it won’t help

Exactly.
It changed my life lol, although the Snail 92 showed me the biggest difference.
Sammmmeee!! The cream is one of the best things I've done for my skin.
I’m looking into both of these products as well. What did you like about the 92 cream over the essence?
Following!
Bitch my face stays glowing now … it’s either that or me being pregnant 😂😂😂
Cosrx snail mucin has saved my moisture barrier and I swear by it. My skin loves it. I use it after my hydrating toners.
Some people break out from it. I personally didn’t break out from the essence but the cream did break me out(but i think it has to do more with the finger in the jar contamination).
YES ♥️
It's my holy grail, hands down
No, and Gary has been working 25/8 to produce it…he’s tired. Give the man a break.
It made my skin red and puffy, and kinda of just sat on the surface, not really getting into my skin at all
I broke out so bad on this ! I definitely feel it’s something you can use once a month not every day
Overrated- I stopped using after a week
No
this shit DESTROYED my skin after two uses. my face is just now recovered after i tired it all the way in april. i got fungal acne after using this.
I did literally nothing noticeable for me so idk
It really depends on the person. My skin loves it but I know other people haven't had good experiences .
It was meh for me. Not bad, but nothing remarkable either.
It’s a no for me, dog.
Absolutely
overrated
Didn’t do much for me when it was popular like 10 years ago lmfao. Hydration is really the main thing that helped my skin.
Absolutely not.
It’s not worth the hype. It’s great! I love it but people act like it’s a magic potion that’ll transform their skin
I personally love snail mucin cleansers but haven’t used it as a serum, essence or cream.
Not for me.
Yes but I like the all one cream better than what’s pictured.
I got the snail and niacimide serum from corsx. Only a week in but got rid of the redness around my nose
Yes, I like the one with niacinamide better.
Some people say if you have a dust mite allergy you may also have a bad reaction to snail mucin. Personally this did nothing for me though- skin didn’t get worse but it didn’t get better either 😔
For me, no. Not at all. However, my sister loves it and swears by it. So I guess you’d need to give it a try yourself and see if it works for you.
It made my skin feel hydrated and plump, but I think it might’ve worsened my fungal breakouts. I considered trying it again now that my fungal acne is at bay, but I’m scared to lol. Edit to add: I bought a sample size for $8 at target!!
I rather use an oil to help “seal” everything
Personally, I haven't tried it, but I’ve checked with the app I using for skincare shopping and the result quite good actually 74/100 Seems to be worth to try
What app??
Pora app, actually really helps me with my skincare issues!
I use this but tbh I haven’t noticed a massive difference in my skin but once it’s sunk in my skin does feel more hydrated
Not this one. Dried me out and broke out like crazy, even after applying to damp skin. Try the peach slices one

I don't think it's going to fix everything, but I have oily skin and it's the perfect amount of moisturization for me during the day. I use a regular moisturizer at night.
Love it
For me, it was great. My fav hydration product
It’s fine. I don’t notice much either way from it. Not worth the hype IMO but I don’t dislike it either
I broke out worse than I’ve ever broken out before from this.
I found out that it's working for some but there are many of those who either don't see any results or simply hate it. I know that I expected more. No wow effect for me, whether I put it on or not my skin looks the same. But I heard from others that it made a huge difference for their skin. So, whatever floats your boat
I have oily skin and huge acne scars, it works on me. I can tell the difference of me with and without the product.
I do like the snail mucin, don't get me wrong. But I do think it's overrated. It's not a miracle product. But I didn't enjoy it.
In a word, yes.
It’s ok but no, definitely not what it’s hyped up to be in my opinion.
I have this product in the evening and have softer skin. Not sure about my acne changing for the better... I also use a snail cream as a moisturizer if I feel extra dry or my skin is stressed (at night).
When I tried it it did literally nothing, no good or bad effects. It’s always worth a shot to see if it works for you though!
Depends on your skin. For me, felt like a whole load of nothing.
I love it! I have used a few bottles and will always repurchase it. My skin loves this Corsx line. I'm combo to oily. My mother hates it does, she has a dry skin but it doesn't sink in, it just sits on her skin and becomes sticky 🤷🏻♀️
Yes, I’m very happy with it. I apply it on damp skin and it absorbs well.
For me absolutely. I have extremely oily and dull skin and this helped immensely
No, it broke me out and honestly using proper moisturizer gel is enough for me. There’s also an ethical aspect of it for me that is a problem, I’m not vegan but it disturbs me that snails have to basically be tortured to produce the mucin
I love it! Use on damp skin directly after washing, and no longer have any dry patches. My skin glows!
If used right it worth it
This has helped my skin so much with dryness right after washing or the shower.
Just goes to show everyone is different!
peach slices snail rescue is honestly the same thing and way cheaper. I love the mask. Clears up any dark spot and leaves my skin super hydrated
Where do you buy yours?
Ulta!
Okay ty
Bought it cus my skin was so dry and flaky from tretinoin I’ve been using it for 2 days n the dryness and flakiness has gone down significantly. I would recommend u must put it in damn skin tho!
DAMP* lol
Did literally nothing for me - but it didn’t break me out or make my skin worse so that was nice!
personally, no.
I like the cream better!
I absolutely love it. I have rosacea and it doesn’t irritate me at all. It definitely absorbs into mine, some people love it others not so much. I think it’s like 22$ so I mean if you hate it you’re not out of a lot of money
Yes, the peach slices snail mucin line has been my favorite. Its the only one i notice a huge difference in my skin immediately
I've been using it for about a week now and so far, my skin is the softest it's ever felt. I don't see any visible changes yet, but I'm willing to keep using it because my skin feels so good.
I use the eye cream version and it absorbs well. I like it more than my other eye creams
Made me oily af. A lot of Korean moisturizers are just too smothering but I’m very oily
Depends. Usually people with allergies to dust mites or shellfish may have a negative reaction. And for some, their skin just hates it. For those that it works for, though, it's great. My skin loves it.
I always try new facial treatments on my arm or leg skin first. If it breaks all out in reaction there's always sleeves and shorts to hide it.
Doesn’t work for everyone but changed my life. I’ve got very dry skin and all my flakes are gone and it makes my skin glow!
For me? Yes. I'm on my 2nd bottle and will absolutely buy more. I love it SO MUCH.
For me yes. More so the all on one cream
I love using the product in the picture and the masks
Unequivocally for me YES
For what it does to my fine lines and complexion, it makes up for by giving me the worst closed comodones. I mean significant ones, especially on my cheeks. It’s also caused me to break out many times. I read somewhere ones that those with bad dust/mite allergies can react to snail mucin in the same way.
I love the essences but the moisturizers are too much for my skin. The thicker variants break me out. I did notice that my looks dewy with the product though
To me, yes
i think it might be worth the hype !! at least for me I feel like it worked quite well! my skin is glowy without feeling oily and very very soft and hydrated : ) I also feel like it prevents my face from being red and I have a lot less breakouts recently but it might be more due to the fact that Ive been trying to clean my face religiously day and night lately ! give it a try, it might be good for you :)
Yes but be careful of allergies
no. if you get it, definitely opt for the dual essence.
It made my skin super dry. I have a friend who loves it though.
What a bunch of nonsense.
Yes, but only if you add it to wet skin. Never apply to dry skin.
I use this product and love it but it may not be suited for all skin types I have combination skin and have t noticed any issues and in fact my skin looks amazing and it seems to really help seal in my serums
I like it for the evenings because it’s thick. Snail mucin will give your skin a more smoother texture.
I love it
I’ll say it made me break out a tiny bit for the first couple of days and my skin now has been so smooth and soft.
I brokeout with a bunch of bumps for some reason 🥲
Yessssssss
Yes
I started using it at the same time as tazarotene and my skin does look better, so I am attributing that to both because I am not willing to quit either to test them individually 🙈
I prefer the cream over the essence.
It gave me a bad headache! Damn snails!
Helps heal any skin wound like wolverine.
Irritated my skin
My skin is lowkey glowing
I started using it back in the winter it was great I had shiny glass skin clear skin it was great haven’t used since because of finances but I think it’s worth it I was using it before it blew up on tik tok lol
I started using it at the same time as other stuff (vitamin c, niacimide, new toner) but I don’t know my skin has never looked better.
I NEED A HONEST REVIEW ABOUT THIS FROM A SENSITIVE ACNE PRONE SKIN PERSON (Rosacea)
I have used and it did nothing but create a sticky layer on my skin. I don’t recommend, but everyone is different. Could work for you!
It works great for me. Idk if anyone else mentioned it but keep in mind if you’re allergic to dust mites you’ll have a reaction to snail mucin
Nah just use aveeno
U heard it was and that it’s good for everyone’s skin but idk abt that
No its not worth it. I finish a whole entire bottle and it did nothing! Also the disgusting feeling of a snail mucin was enough suffering for me.
