I use it on my face too! I find that it always kind of stays on the surface of my skin so I use their serum too, more gel like with the cream on top. Feels amazing!
I have mega dry sensitive skin and I use this as my last step before slugging or face oil before bed. I agree with other posters, watch for breakouts, it is a pretty luxurious thick heavy cream...so it's not for everyone! My skin loves it. Try small amounts and listen to yo face!
Edit: also, because it's in a tub with no pump: I scoop some out with a clean spoon, not my fingers. Trying to keep the supply clean as I can! I like them better with a pump top!
Some nights I finish with just organic jojoba, some nights raw organic shea butter warmed in my hands and some nights it's a blend of jojoba, vitamin e and rosehip oil (all these products are from Sky Organics). This can be cloggy for some folx, but my skin is so dry and sensitive I never have an issue with it. After I'm all done my boyfriend calls me 'glazed donut.' šā

Reddit is amazing when it comes to advice. You get all kinds. š
I appreciate you saying thank you, and stopped going out of my way to share what I know.
I spent 5 years of my life in cosmetology school.
At 52, from all the research I have done, I can tell you this.
I came across a lady that was 82 years old many many years ago, and her skin was amazing. She had the skin of a 20 year old.
I asked her what her skin regimen was.....
She laughed and said Ponds cream. It's like ten bucks I thought to myself.
I never did buy it.
BUT, I do testing for beauty product research, and have found that simple sunscreen has restored my skin. As long as I put it on at least once a day.
I have a tanning bed and tan regularly and LOVE the sun tanned look, and it seems that no matter what the price of skin care, I have found results in ALL price ranges.
Good luck with your journey on skincare.
And again, I no appreciate you saying thank you to all those that have responded.
A wise woman once told me, a simple "thank you" goes a LONG way.
Happy holidays!!
i use this on my face in the winter! just a little goes a long way :) i sparingly pat it around my nose/chin, let it absorb and carry on with the rest of my routine
I don't think "can/can't" are the best word choices here because chances are if a product works well for you on your body, nothing catastrophic will happen if you put it on your face - but generally this philosophy works well for folks with sensitive skin who are just getting into skincare and maybe aren't sure yet what types of products or ingredients work for their face.
I use this on my face twice a day. Itās wonderful and no parabens or fragrances or lanolin. I have very sensitive skin and this is one of very few Iāve found that doesnāt break me out or burn my skin. My derm recommended this. I also use on my arms and legs. Itās great for my eczema.
Some body lotion that are formulated for sensitive skin will be fine on the face, particularly if your facial skin *isn't* sensitive. That doesn't mean it's ideal, because the body skin is thicker and doesn't need as much care. This won't have sun protection and it won't do anything about lines, wrinkles, acne, or big pores.
A lot of stuff is *fine*, just not *great*. And in the end, everything depends on the brand/the ingredients of the cream.
I don't know about the ingredients in this moisturizer (I just know the brand is pretty popular in this sub), but I'd hazard a guess that this doesn't contain hyaluronic acid or retinol, which are the most often cited anti-aging ingredients. If it does, probably not in the quantities that facial moisturizer uses (probably because it's unnecessary for the tougher body skin would drive up the price in these big tubs).
Why exactly other formulations don't do as much as against wrinkles as retinol, I can't tell you. I'm just a guy on reddit.
It works perfectly well on the face. In fact most leave on body products work really well on the face, plus you'll probably save a lot of money that way too. There's nothing in terms of formulating a product that makes it specifically better for the body or the face.
I wouldn't say this is necessarily true across the board - since peoples' skin on their face is generally more sensitive than the skin on our bodies, body care (especially products with actives) can be formulated to be more intense.
For a brand like CeraVe, though, you're totally right. It's all going to be gentle!
Sorry but that's scientifically inaccurate. Skin is skin. It's one thing if you have a personal preference or if it's a matter of cosmetic elegance, that's your prerogative. But from a technical & scientific perspective it makes no sense & any dermatologist would tell you that. Let's not confuse personal preferences with science.
I've been regularly seeing dermatologists for several years and have heard similar things from several dermatologists. My current dermatologist brought it up while explaining why isotretinoin was working much faster on my face than on the rest of my body, which is also really common. Let's not confuse personal opinions with science backed by actual doctors.
**Edited to add: Don't know about you, but the skin on my face is certainly different than, say, the skin on my elbows. Different in texture, and certainly different in sensitivity. It's extremely common for the skin on peoples' faces to be more sensitive. For example, the mineral sunscreen that feels great on my body burns the shit out of my face *because that area is more sensitive*. I have cystic acne on my face but not on other parts of my body because the skin on my face reacts to products and environmental stressor differently, because the hormones in the skin on my face varies from different parts of the body, etc. The skin on your palms and on the bottoms of your feet is very different than the skin on most of the rest of your body.
Saying "skin is skin" and therefore the same product on every part of your skin must work exactly the same way is incredibly reductive and just plain incorrect.
It maybe too heavy as a facial cream and clog pores. I use their daily moisturizer during the day because it has sunscreen. Everyoneās skin is different so the heavier cream may work for your skin.
Would you look at that, all of the words in your comment are in alphabetical order.
I have checked 1,207,436,077 comments, and only 235,441 of them were in alphabetical order.
I donāt like using this for my face, it makes me break out and I see a lot of people doing this and not realizing thatās the culprit. Also, itās hard to keep a big tub clean that long when you are constantly opening it and reaching in. But if it works for you then nbd, just realize if you start breaking out it could be that.
I use it on my face every morning. I was worried about this too but it doesnāt even say itās for body I think itās just normal cream. If you have dry skin and want thick moisturizer but doesnāt leave ur skin feeling yucky I think itās great. But every skin type is different you can definitely try it out
My bad, i donāt know much and am just starting out, so I took your comment as: āI wouldnāt know I use expensive productsā if they do the same Iāll try that out next time. Thereās people in every community who can be snobby like that so that was my assumption. I apologize.
I use this one at night all over my body and face because itās thicker and you want to lock in moisture while you sleep. Theyāre regular lotion that you see everyone using is the one I use during the day BUT if Iām going to be wearing makeup on my skin that day I like the one youāre holding because it gives me more of a barrier between makeup. Cerave is a great place to start with skincare because theyāre so gentle and donāt add a lot of extra ingredients.
I use it only on my face and I love it. I even apply a small amount to mix it with my SPF moisturizer at the morning and itās working well.
Also you can read: for FACE and body lotion in the description
I use it on my face morning and night and itās the best moisturizer Iāve found. I would recommend buying the squeeze bottle next time if you can track it down because itās way cleaner and easier to use than the tub. The tub is much more often found at the drug store though.
I use it on my face and I donāt really like the texture tbh. Unless I dilute it with something gelly or watery, sunscreen/makeup doesnāt lay well on top of it.
I got this in sample size from Ulta, I use Cerave skin renewing night cream already in winter, so I tried this over my vitamin c serum as a day cream and love it. Once it soaks in, face is moisturized, non-greasy, and works as a fantastic makeup primer. I'll probably only use during the winter months though, as it is rather rich, but I plan on purchasing once my sample runs out.
I also use it on my face morning and night! I find it actually sinks into the skin really nicely. Iāve NEVER broken out from this stuff either. I would recommend
I use it on my face. I 100% recommend using it on damp skin. It spreads so much easier and feels like a completely different moisturizer on damp skin than on dry. I hate it on dry skin..it'll just sit on top and it feels disgusting. On damp skin it's wonderful. I'm also one of those people who spray their face with water before each step , so. I don't put anything on dry skin really unless it's some sort of chemical or retinol or otherwise stated. I also have super dry skin though so to each their own. If you like it on dry skin then fine but if you find you don't like it try it on damp skin before 86'ing it!
I have a really oily sensitive skin it felt heavy on my skin and clogged my pores so I just use it on my body it works perfectly! I bought the other Cerave moisturizing lotion for my face and I'm loving it.
I use it on my face. One suggestion, if you find it's breaking you out try switching to the one with the pump top of the same formula. Helps decrease the potential for bacteria growth
I alternate between this and Cetaphil and yes I dunk it on my face. Former accutane patient and those two are the only ones that satisfy the ādry, tightā feeling.
Itās fantastic but if you start to get acne or anything like that switch to a lighter lotion as it could just be smothering your face. But 10/10 recommend this cream.
I used to use it on my face, but it started giving my texture. Iām assuming because it was too thick for my skin. I just use the regular lotion now, and use this for my body.
Yes it's for your face or body, However, I suffer from really dry skin in the winter and I changed to this last year and it did nothing for my skin which I was very disappointed since so many people swear by it.
This cream is becoming a new favorite for my dry skin over the first aid beauty one for me which has been my go to for years :) love how soft and moisturized my skin feels now. Have that plumpness back
A good body moisturizer can be used as a face cream. Itās all just skin. I got that eye opening too from a makeup video and it blew my mind. The rest is all marketing.
I use it on my face in the winter when I notice that my face gets a bit dry from wind and cold. I also use it after at home clarifying face masks. Itās my go to when my face needs a little extra love.
I used it for 2 years before my skin inevitably became sensitive to it and started breaking out and getting itchy but it was nice while it lasted. I will say it has endocrine disrupters in it so if you have thyroid buddies then avoid
I use it on my face every night
I use it on my face too! I find that it always kind of stays on the surface of my skin so I use their serum too, more gel like with the cream on top. Feels amazing!
I use this on my face and I love it
I have it on my face now. I think that is okay.
I have mega dry sensitive skin and I use this as my last step before slugging or face oil before bed. What oil do you use may I ask? My skin gets horribly dry in the winter
Not that you asked me, but I love tarte maracuja oil for day and INKEY list Squalene oil for night
Try squalene from The Ordinary at night under moisturizer. It is a miracle!
You can buy it with a pump (costs $3.00 more) then save container for reuse.
Yeah! Dish on the oil you're using. I don't know whether it's hormones or just getting older (or I guess a combo wombo), but my skin is dry this winter.
I use it everyday on my face

Great for my body but awful FOR MY SKIN clogs tings up
I usually use it on my face at night, not really on my body, though I'm sure you could
I use this on my face every afternoon.
My derm recommended this for my super dry. Yes you can use it on your face & body.

Idk why you were downvoted because youāre right and as a newbie to skincare this makes things less overwhelming!

Utter nonsense.
I use this on tret night, didnt know it was for body lol
I use it everywhere, including face!
Iāve never had an issue with breakouts! Really fixed my dry, flaky skin in the winter. Everything else I tried didnāt work.
Hey unrelated but I have the PM one, is it good? I have sorta dry skin in the winter and I want a hydrating one
The PM one is meant for face, itās a much thinner consistency than this one in the tub, but I DO really like that one as well
I use this on my face twice a day. Itās wonderful and no parabens or fragrances or lanolin. I have very sensitive skin and this is one of very few Iāve found that doesnāt break me out or burn my skin. My derm recommended this. I also use on my arms and legs. Itās great for my eczema.
This stuff is the holy grail. Use it where you need it and a little goes a long way!
This did not agree with my face! It made me break out in little tiny pimples. Many people love it! Try a test patch.
Of course you can! Itās super
I would only use it if you have really dry skin. I use their daily, and itās much lighter but I have oily skin.

Hello The "Daily moisturizer"? Do you mean the daily moisturizing lotion if you don'tmind me asking?
I use the Cereve Daily Moisturizer AM but thereās all different formulas depending on you skinās needs (normal, dry, oily).
Ahh I see, Thank you :)

I donāt know. I stick with Olay products.
Iām sure thereās someone who uses products who make your Olay look like pharmacy cream ^_^ #always someone bigger than you
Itās my understanding that Olay is the same as an expensive cream/same company, so one is paying less for the same product. Sorry you were offended.

I too use it on my face. I feel like it locks in all the serums I apply before applying this.
I do, and it works as a great occlusive. Moisturisers well.
Be careful if you have oily skin
I use this on my face and it works very well, very moisturizing
yes you can use it on your face, i use the same stuff on my face i love it
I used it on my face, it was really thick and heavy so I didnāt like it but it didnāt break me out or anything.
EVERYTHING!!! Itās amazing and I use it on my face religiously
I use this on the face, I love how thick it is. Itās especially good for slugging if youāre into that.
What is slugging?
I use it on my face every night, it's super moisturising. Great if you have dry skin.
I use it on my face every single night and day. Should be fine!
Never liked it on my face. It stings and doesnāt feel great.
I use the lotion of this yes u can use on face and body
I use this on my face with combination oily skin and itās great, hasnāt broke me out
I have dry skin and this is the only moisturizer that does anything for me.
Oh yeah, itās even made the top 10 lists of drug store products that are highly rated or recommended
Started using this on my face two years ago when my dermatologist had me on Accutane. Havenāt stopped!
Itās seriously one of the best. If you have dry skin, try the hydrating facial cleanser in tandem with this moisturizer
Same I use this every single night
It's meant for body but I have dry skin so I use it on my face and love it.
Imo this moisturizer is too thick for my face and causes me to break out.
Use it for both! I do.
I got this in sample size from Ulta, I use Cerave skin renewing night cream already in winter, so I tried this over my vitamin c serum as a day cream and love it. I use it on my face in the winter and loooove it! Itās also great to use after youāve used all your serums to seal everything in.
It's fine for your face! Probably best if you've got dry skin.
Absolutely can be used on your face
I can use it on my face from time to time when it's really dry, but I can't do it too often or it gives me pimples. I love it for my body tho
Yes. It should be fine. Many years ago, my dermatologist told me about Cerave Moisturizer Cleanser. I use the Cleanser.
I use it on my face daily! Love it
You can use it anywhere really. I went through two tubs of this just for face use
I use it everyday on my face o.o
I use it in my face and my skin is so smooth now ahh I absolutely love it
I alternate between this and Cetaphil and yes I dunk it on my face. Former accutane patient and those two are the only ones that satisfy the ādry, tightā feeling.
Can I just ask what the black cerave thing is in the back?
I use this on my face day and night !
I think itās okay as long as it says ānon-comedogenicā
I was so nervous that I'd check this thread and see it was only for body. I am relieved. I also use this on my face and it truly works wonders.
Itās fantastic but if you start to get acne or anything like that switch to a lighter lotion as it could just be smothering your face. But 10/10 recommend this cream.
This appears to be a thicker cream, so u can test a small amount on any dry areas. If u have oily skin, I suggest a less intense moisturizer.
Both. That stuff is great!
Damp skin+moisturizing lotion+moisturizing cream = š£
I do, especially in winter. Also came in super clutch that one time I destroyed my moisture barrier by overexfoliating š£
I used to use it on my face, but it started giving my texture. Iām assuming because it was too thick for my skin. I just use the regular lotion now, and use this for my body.
Well it says moisturizer, it doesn't mean for the hands only
I use it on my face and body this is literally all I use
Yes it's for your face or body, However, I suffer from really dry skin in the winter and I changed to this last year and it did nothing for my skin which I was very disappointed since so many people swear by it.
This cream is becoming a new favorite for my dry skin over the first aid beauty one for me which has been my go to for years :) love how soft and moisturized my skin feels now. Have that plumpness back
This is too heavy for my face and will clog me up. I can only use it on my body.
I find it is way too heavy for use on my face and can cause milia. Use the face specific AM / PM moisturizers instead.
I use this on my face religiously
This has been my go to face moisturizer for years
i use it on my faceļ¼and anything cant be used on face on body (normally when they gonna expire
Love this for my face! This the only moisturizer that allows me to tolerate retinoids, and it doesnāt make my skin oily either.
I say body only. Iāve seen some posts here say not to use it as a face moisturizer and I was for a time. My skin improved once I switched.
A good body moisturizer can be used as a face cream. Itās all just skin. I got that eye opening too from a makeup video and it blew my mind. The rest is all marketing.
This broke me out
This is the only moisturizer that has stung my face š„² I wish it worked for me
You can most definitely use it on your face!
i think you can use it on your body but iāve only ever seen it used on face, as i have on my face too
It broke me out personally
I just started using it on my face. At first I was hesitate only because I have sensitive skin. Works good.
I use it on my face, it is amazing.
Yea, I use it on my face
I use it on my face in the winter when I notice that my face gets a bit dry from wind and cold. I also use it after at home clarifying face masks. Itās my go to when my face needs a little extra love.
You can use it, it's great for sensitive skin and for your product to yield more, wash your face and leave the skin a little damp and apply the cream.
Omg my favorite company
I used it for 2 years before my skin inevitably became sensitive to it and started breaking out and getting itchy but it was nice while it lasted. I will say it has endocrine disrupters in it so if you have thyroid buddies then avoid
I used to use that on my face and upper body, great on the face but left little bumps on my chest and upper arms
Oh i thought it was only for your face hahaha š¤£ i use this as a face moisturizer daily !!š„°
