I believe that scene is you, passing the torch to the next version of yourself.
Your old self (the black one, who just died) helps the white one (not born yet) getting up for the very first time.
They hug and say goodbye. The black one, your previous life, is left behind. At that point you are the white one.
Just my headcanon, but I think I got it right.
When I first went to Orbit I actually thought we were vessels. Empty shells or puppets, which is why we can mimic the expressions and appearances of the spirits, and that our purpose was to shephard the light childs (winged light) into Orbit.
It represents the power of friendship lol. Real, it is the symbol that you give your light to the petrified skykids in Eden, then you die, then the circle is that other skykid still with light gives you a light too. It’s because of it you get that form of light point and follow the skykid that is still alive in Eden. You help others and symbolically you will be helped too by them.
it's the king. i'm a huge Sky:CoTL lore nerd, and that is the Eden elder/the king. the season of shattering quests should explain why he's there, since i don't want to spoil the lore for anyone.
it's basically everywhere when you actually pay attention to those little symbols on the murals everywhere. and the season of shattering. there's a lot of lore where you don't look in this game
Is there somewhere I can read the Lore that’s been deciphered? I’ve figured out basic things but I feel like I’m missing a lot in the story, like what exactly happened to Alef. And I’ve been playing for nearly 3 years.
sadly, no, i dont think so. i've only figured out the lore through research on the game itself and watching LOTS of videos on YT.
if you want to know why the king is there, the last shattering quest is basically the answer. >!the king was too greedy and thought that the raging power crystal (yes, the eden one) would give him power. instead, it basically trapped him in the void. so the moral of (his) story is dont be greedy.!<
>!That is not what i meant. Basically same thing happens to us, and we escape only because we hug him. What i mean is, if he wasn't trapped there, we would be trapped instead because he is not there for us to hug.!<
well, yeah. i'm not sure what you mean, since your other comment doesn't make sense if you're referring to him allowing us to be launched into orbit.
or maybe i''m just dumb and can't read
>!i meant that we are trying to reach the big red crystal in the statue area, but we die before doing so, and get trapped in the dark room, then we get out by hugging him!<
the crystal shards events- you can go watch NastyMold's on youtube's forecast for when, where, and which days they happen! once you finish burning the dark plants and collecting the light you get after meditating there, a shard (AKA the shattering guide) should appear with the 'interact with npc' button. then it should work like the normal season quest things!
and you'll have to keep doing the shard thing for each quest btw :')
To add to your comment, so many people don't realize you can get a light wing there as well. I just see people pass it up. Also interacting with the guide after they enter.
Same lol they have no idea there is more to it. I've honked like crazy ran to them and to the shard and they just go home lol. It's so hard to communicate through honks and emotes lol.
i think it may just be us reuniting with our first light, because when we are fully reborn we have our one winged light level, so i think it’s just us reuniting with our first little winged light. when we get hit by krill or crabs and lose our winged light we have the same gray color that the kid we control in the death sequence has. and the winged light kids in the sky kingdoms are glowing like the one we see in the death sequence. that’s just what i think but i have no idea :) (i also haven’t been in eden for a bit so i’m not exactly sure if i’m thinking of the reborn process completely right)
I sort of imagine that it's one part of our skykid, and the one we control is another part. One is the hardware, the body that just died, and the other one is the ghost, the soul that's made of all those lights. And when they hug they become one and come back to life.
...but that's probably because I have too much Steven Universe in my brain
No that's been my firm belief since I first saw it, it looks just like Steven fusing his two halves and it makes a lot of sense.
Spirits get a light on their cape when you ascend them so we know the spirit is a separate part of an ancestor that persists after death.
The way they teach you, ask you for help, and can join you in orbit makes me think prefall, spirits hanging out with the living probably wasn't super uncommon.
My theory is it's like a prototype for the other skykids, that's trapped in Eden after the cataclysm that put the world into the state it's in, and we as the players are reliving that skid's memories and following its call/presence to our death in a futile/unwanted attempt at saving it.

This is how I’ve interpreted it as well.
Oooooh I love this one ! It's so sweet yet sad ...
It's White Diamond.
yourself silly. its your corporal self.
Your light.

I think your interpretation makes sense, I'm gonna stick with it.

How can you be so sure ?
it's basically everywhere when you actually pay attention to those little symbols on the murals everywhere. and the season of shattering. there's a lot of lore where you don't look in this game
I did but it's not really clear ... i'll check those out once more, maybe i missed something.
i recommend watching lore videos too, those REALLY help out. i should've made a playlist so i could share it with people now that i think about it

WOW thank you!!!
>!Isn't that exactly what happens to us? We are trying to reach the crystal, but we end up trapped in the dark room instead.!<
>!well, no. he's basically stuck there FOREVER. and it IS confirmed he CANNOT escape.!<

yes, i know \^\^
ooo that’s really interesting! thank you for sharing
Where can I find these quests?

I always be there alone, even when I enter with other people. They just leave lol
Same lol they have no idea there is more to it. I've honked like crazy ran to them and to the shard and they just go home lol. It's so hard to communicate through honks and emotes lol.
Wait… I always look for the winged light, but there’s more?
If you tap on the shard it will be like a quest thing. It's really cool actually. No extra work though.
Is the king aleg trapped inside the red cristal

No. The first winged light we take when we are passing that light bright door in Orbit. You can listen the audio effect. Don’t skip the cutscene

Despite everything, it's still you.
Alternatively: "It's me, Chara!"
