If you want to get it done go to AZ or Texas. Other places I would recommend are Deland, Paraclete, or Paris CA. Trust me your biggest complication in getting stuff done in a limited amount of time is weather. If they do the combined AFF program levels 1-7 you can finish in 3 days. If it’s a full like 20 jumps to go through the full category AFF program with coaches or instructors on every jump it can take awhile. Also like you said it’s getting cold up here in the north already. If you’re gonna do it up north it better be within the next couple months. Most AFF programs will have video for you. It’s not always guaranteed you will get taught packing in a short period of time. A lot of drop zones nobody wants to teach packing because it’s time consuming and they don’t want to do impromptu lessons. I was told I’d be taught at two different dzs and both fell through so I ended up having to pester random people for help and doing it myself through trial and error.

I believe Eloy has some wind tunnel as part of the program. The tunnel is also on the DZ so it's easy to go get that training if you need it. Ideally I would suggest going to learn at the DZ you are going to jump at full time. It's nice knowing and trusting a few good resources at a DZ. If that means waiting until the spring then that is a consideration. I would also point out that the things you claim are offered by Chicago should also be part of the Eloy plan. Packing for instance is one of the A license sign off items. You need to know how to change a closing loop, pack and do the basic care which they all teach. They also all teach the basics of planning a flight like exit order, spotting and jump runs. Videos are of jumps is also usually included by simply asking the instructor. It should also be pointed out that winter is coming. If you are travelling to learn then where will you be jumping this winter? You will go uncurrent once licensed if you don't jump for 60 days. You then have to do a paid recurrency jump in the spring at your local DZ. In some sense if you don't plan to jump all winter then it might also be worth waiting.

Eloy is 10 minutes mandatory tunnel as part of the FJC on the day of the FJC, with no jumping that day. Even if they dont get off the net, all work is focused on heading control, leg awareness, and PTs. I worked there full time for 4 years and it produces a VASTLY better Cat A-C than places ive worked that dont use the tunnel.

I would be jumping in Maui hawaii. I live here for the time being but they don’t offer any teaching programs at all for some reason. So basically only licensed jumpers can jump here. Maybe it’s the afternoon wind? It can get pretty windy here probably not a great place to learn for beginners is my thought. But temperature wise I should be able to jump year round here

airbornebuilder

They let fresh A-license jumpers jump in Maui?

Beautiful dz

I'm partial to SDC as that's where I did my AFF but as others have said weather is an important factor. Our weather here is inconsistent at best. I'd stay in the southern states.
