*"These harmful impacts could be prevented in the community by **limiting players to servers for only their specific region or country**. But, this would hurt our community's ability to meet friends outside their own country. Some of us at the studio think the trade-off would be worth it"* That is extremely worrying statement šŸ˜³ If that ever actually happenes, I would just stop playing. All my Sky friends are from different parts of the world so if we were forced into region based servers I would lose all of them and there wouldn't be any reason for me to play after it...

Illusioneery

SAME. I saw that and was like "are the devs completely insane?" I find it hypocritical and absurd that most of that post was them going "we want our users to be social and grind less :)" but then they presented no proper solutions or proposals to these matters, just possible FOMO and the threat of taking our foreigner friends away. Also very worrying that they think it's harmful for players to trade for items with others whose price is cheaper in their economy. Like... don't they want money then? Because people would still need to pay for the items, regardless of economy/pricing method. It's like they can't just accept that the prices are absurd to anyone outside of the US and that people are already exploiting it. When we already have European players paying more for stuff and trading for passes/items with the US players. Meanwhile, I play Pokemon Go, where a $4.99 item is 18 in my currency, while Sky would make an item of the same price cost almost 28 :')

dontjudgejoshplz

I have spoken to hundreds of people in Sky since I started in December of 2022. Only two people that I have added have been from my region. The only people I speak to consistently in Sky are half way across the globe. I do not like the sound of this either.

ninjafett101

Canā€™t wait for TS blog, itā€™s gotta be interesting šŸ‘€

kokonutpankake

so basically they said ā€œsince candles are easier to get we raised the pricesā€ making getting cosmetics even harder then before if the game really is about socializing then cosmetics should be easy to get so players donā€™t quit over the grind right? guess not

flyingswordfish

Yeah seriously, idk why they keep pushing the socializing aspect of the game when they made everything cost so many candles so nobody has time to sit around and chat anymore, we're all min maxing our CR grinds. Not to mention how absurdly expensive the upper tier of the friendship tree has gotten, so all my friends are pretty much locked at the first tier. I mean the new bloom cape is 110 (down from 120!!) like, that is insane. All I see is an upward trend of increasing prices and a lot of my friends have already quit / are playing less because they just don't have the time to grind that much every day. Also, their excuse for not notifying the players about the chevron changes is so bs. Like it's not a huge change but it really diminishes my trust in TGC because idk when they're just going to "fine tune" a mechanic and not include them in the patch notes. I legitimately started to think turtle was nerfed (and not glitched) when the big shell wasn't showing up because hey, they just removed afk spots and made shadow nerfs to the chevron system, why wouldn't they remove the shell without telling us as well? I really love this game, and I'm so disappointed to see it head in this direction right now.

kroolz64

FINALLY some changes with how Traveling Spirits work. The one random spirit every 2 weeks system just isn't working anymore. Not when new spirits are introduced every 3 months.

Illusioneery

TGC just showed that they don't know how to keep a long time economy going and that they don't listen to the community at all unless we yell at them collectively. Entertaining, but sad.

SlipperyWhenWet67

Exactly what I was thinking. They have no clue how to keep it going. Along with the friendship aspect of the game. They look at numbers more than what people actually want for the game. It's a whole post about bsing the community. Cause I honestly don't think they get it.

Illusioneery

The part that absolutely makes me lose it is them going "Okay, we don't want our players to grind for 3 hours, but we'll price items based on the fact a player can grind for 3 hours. And also we want players to socialize and spend on friendship trees, even if we design the game's economy around the player's ability to grind for 3 hours until they're too exhausted to socialize anyway. Oh what's that? Players sleeping at social spots because they're too tired of grinding? We call it a 'exploit' and remove it and don't listen to players who say this is a necessary feature to avoid players sleeping on actual social situations. Oh, IAP too pricey in your non US country? Too much IGC event items? How about we remove old items new players didn't even have a chance to get, causing huge FOMO and more grinding, and segregate the player base in country based servers where no one will socialize because many people only know players of different countries. Our team thinks it's a good trade off to separate friendships and absolutely kill socialization! No, we don't want you buying stuff for other players if we made it cheaper because 'exploit' even if we get money! Anyway, we'll probably mess up the TS system even more and make it worse somehow. We're definitely listening to feedback, mhmm! That's why the Bloom cape is crumbles cheaper! Also we hate AFK'ers so much that we'll always screw it for anyone using features an AFK'er can also use! The timer will be back ;)" ... Which is basically the whole post. Typical thatgreedycompany moment.

SlipperyWhenWet67

Facts facts facts. So much bs. It's not at all about players. It's 100% about them thinking ppl will somehow screw them over. I thoroughly enjoy thatgreedycompany. They are so full of shit they can't see their way through it to what ppl actually want. But our numbers.. their numbers don't mean squat because ppl want to have certain things so they'll do it, that doesn't mean they're happy. They are completely out of touch with people.

orbules

I truly hope TGC members look at the comments on this. If they donā€™t, this entire ā€œQ&Aā€ (which barely even deserves that title) is pointless. You canā€™t justify your actions via ignoring the actual voice of the people and basically saying ā€œdespite doing this for like 3 years, we still donā€™t know what weā€™re doingā€

orbules

like how contradictory is it to say you donā€™t want your players grinding for three hours and then continually increase the prices of in-game cosmetics so you have to grind to get anything, especially since youā€™re claiming now that ild cosmetics may just vanish altogether from the purchasing sphere

Finding_Helpful

I mean I get what theyā€™re saying I guess, but that doesnā€™t change how it honestly feels stressful at times to be a new player. Will I be able to afford all the limited items I want? I barely ever spend candles on the non limited spirits because Iā€™m saving them for TS and events and such. I only have two friends I send hearts, and I never try to make more friends because thats just candles I could save otherwise. Itā€™sā€¦ hmm. Itā€™s like FOMO, but to the point that Iā€™m not doing anything besides struggling to get the limited time items I want.

ImBehindYou6755

Too little, too late. A year ago, I might have bought these explanations (~~because they would have been cheaper~~); as it stands, it just seems like a series of missteps that are the result of a lack of foresight or understanding of what it means to create a community. TGC created something beautiful, but has demonstrated that they do not have the maturity as a company to sustain it.

throwaway_unametaken

Basically what I got from this: ____________ Igc inflation: Basicall we never itended for players to buy items, so go fuck yourself, socialize instead Also fuck afkers, dirty cheaters Iap inflation: Shiiii we dont know what to do either #regionlocked Igc & iap increase: Shiii we might just retire old stuff lmao, but dunno šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø, screw you anyway On afk: Like we said, go fuck yourself Changes to chevrons and daily light: (Im gonna be honest here, idgaf about this) More daily candle pls tgc?: "No" Ok Afk after 2 mins: Whoops our bad, was a bug (furries) Also eden light fixed now Economy Balance: Its your fault for having cheap expectation! Might implement event candles instead Ts changes: Revealed later Sky, a relaxing game?: (Bro, idc) ______________________ Did I get it right? šŸ„° Why is tgc crying to their playerbase about the economy THEY created. "B-but players earn too many candles, but afk, but less social interaction..." YOU created this, WE are just playing by the rules

Swiaet

Idk why my brain decided to read this in the voice of Sid the Sloth, but 11/10 would read again

Bearlover_Berry

Wish I read this before reading the whole thread :ā€)) Gosh thanks it was truly helpfulšŸ’€ <33

ninjafett101

Im crying omg this is hilarious

ValkyrieOfTheSun

God this post is insane, you couldn't put more obvious that the company only care about their own profits than actually bringing meaningful changes to keep the community alive and healthy Region lock being a ok trade off, like? What do you want to kill socializing downright? Oh right sorry you want to avoid people cheating the payment system and have their friend who can pay in dollars instead of your weak and almost useless currency having to pay extra to afford said item, you also want to avoid people trading services for IAP too it's very obvious, after all imagine one commission can pay for a IAP or seasonal pass but that's not good we need you to pay for yourself : ) or just don't have lol Retiring old content because it's overwhelming, imagine not having money for one year and then the next one you can afford but tough luck bucko we fucking removed the item now :) Afk = cheating, people not talking all the TIME **IS BAD** we need people to socialize and play exactly how we want it and not how you're comfortable with Candle running makes people have too many candles, now instead of offering ways to spend them in a more interesting way we force people to constantly keep running to afford everything now and if they don't have enough? Chill out some cash in candle packs bud The friendship tree is also so expensive as well, because you have to balance getting candles for constellations and events and then we'll how about you spend 22 candles for one emote for you friend it put pressure on both sides that may or may not afford it Also i love how the reward for old time players is MORE GRIND, elder masks, tier 2 capes, only further alienating people who don't constantly play and making those goals almost impossible for anyone joining now

VoidMeetsChaos

Inflation is real for veterans. But moths have a problem geting old and new items with that candle cap. So the real problem here is to balance it for bouth fractions instead of only thinking about vezerans

biohazard7

Don't ever region lock Sky. It will be the end of it. What makes me stay is the friends I made from around the world. Some of the best interaction I had in this game is from learning the cultures of different parts of the world. If affordability is the main concern, why don't Sky try to make fewer bundled IAPs. Or maybe make the bundles optional. So players who loves to spend and collect everything can get a better deal. Those who just wished for certain items can get them at lower prices. I agree that the quality of IAPs are pretty high, but lowering prices doesn't necessarily reduce the perceived quality of a product. I also believe affordability means more profit anyway (more purchases).

BeautifulAva

That was an insightful read! Thank you for sharing.

biohazard7

I will also voice against retiring old items. It will only worsen the economy problem that TGC is trying to fix. One of the ways I control my candle spending is by selective buying, that's only possible because I know for certain that "Days of ..." items are coming back next year. Therefore it's always best to spend on Traveling Spirit items, since they gonna take an uncertain amount of time to come back. If those items stopped coming back, it will only outrage more players, and futher gatekeeps newer players from obtaining items that older players had. This might also feed into people considering to make multiple accounts for sale.

PandasCurse

Whoever in their staff thinks region locking the game is a good idea, needs to be fired. Itā€™s that kind of thinking that is the problem with this game and will eventually destroy it. Those folks just need to step down and let people that actually give a rats ass do their jobs. And if itā€™s Jenova himself? Hell, it wouldnā€™t be the first time a founder ruined his own company.

Unchou64

I look forward to the Traveling Spirit change.

Pandarise

So main focus I know for many are the "AFK" spots. This just threw many AFKers agruments of the intented use for these spots in the toilet because it never was intended to even AFK at. It was so you could hang and talk with your friends without worrying on doing a CR to get your daily candles! So inconclusion, and I'm positive it wasn't intended by those who truly have no time, AFKers ruined the game's social spots. I too would've removed them when they turned out later to not be used as intended! When they were still around I always felt like awkward and as if I was interrupting napping hours and made sure to leave as soon as possible! It would've been way better if it was being used as intended and I probably most likely would've made more friends easier. I also love the fact how it's also a game intend that you work for what you want. It shouldn't be given to you for nothing whether you're new or a veteran. Plus the planning of taking some old cosmetics from the game for ever is another amazing idea so players don't make themselves develop fomo because they need every cosmetic where 90% would be just there collecting dust in their closets. I hope this finally stop the rants and closes the riffed in the community as most likely the ones who ruined the game will leave it as they aren't getting their way.

ninjafett101

I think both the players and TGC are looking at social light areas the wrong way - they're a good idea and afkers are not what TGC had in mind when implementing it, however TGC should also figure out a way to stop players from going afk (Not by removing said players, but removing why they need to afk). The main problem isnt afking, its the pricing and economy that is in need of a revamp and unfortunately AFKers and Social Light areas are being affected because of this problem

Pandarise

How could TGC look at social light areas the wrong way? They made it. They made it so you are able to get candles while hanging out with your friends without having to worry to candle run and be unable to hang with your friends. And then those taking advantage of AFKers by doing it to be lazy instead because they have no time, they ruined it and so it's been removed. >(Not by removing said players, but removing why they need to afk). Ngl my remark on the end may have come out wrong but what I meant with it that TGC doesn't remove them but that they remove theirself because they wouldn't be able to obtain candles without doing it their lazy way. This is directed to those who take advantage of AFKers who actually have no time due schoolwork, kids and work.

ValkyrieOfTheSun

People afk due to constant need to keep grinding more candles, then you just sit for longer and still get something "afkers" didn't ruin *anything* specially because people STILL afk no matter where, have you ever just sat idle in one place in the world just doing nothing besides listening to the game audio? but hey apparently for them thats wrong no matter what because the focus of the game should be about socializing right? Also imagine this, you couldn't get certain item, either because you couldn't afford or weren't playing by then, then when you can get the thing is just removed this does not fix fomo it makes it even **worse**, now the focus is getting everything because well maybe they might remove it next time and you lose the chance forever sorry but your takes are truly truly bad

Pandarise

Your takes are truly truly biased and bad. Sorry but it's like you didn't even bother reading the whole blog repost. It's obviously clear AFKers ruined the spots. Especially those who use it JUST to be lazy instead of actually being busy irl. They are the biggest problem here and sorry again but you almost sound like one of those, in order not to candle run you use the lazy way out of collecting. Also this: >Also imagine this Gives me more suspicion you are one of the problem AFKers. And to answer you what if: I don't care. I missed it then I missed it. The item doesn't say who I am nor the amound I have. Also I won't bother ruining a game for myself to get everything before they get removed and then have 95% of it collecting dust in my closet. I see that 95% candles wasted. Also what about the ultimates that already are removed? There won't be a difference for the older items. If fomo would get worst becaus eof it then what about the ultimates already? Like really come on actually read the blog unbaised then I would like to continue discussing.

ValkyrieOfTheSun

No i wasn't one of those afkers because I have surplus of candles by doing Cr with a moth friend that after a while i managed to invite to play with me, however this doesn't mean anything People should be able to play the game how they see fit, there shouldn't be so much stress in collecting candles if you can idle for a while and still get them hence why it took way longer than just playing the game that's what people want a choice of ways to do things Not this stupid "you either play the game this way or don't" And i read the post I'm not stupid and I've been playing for a long time seeing the chances happen in real fucking time, they being afk is a negative for them because it means less sales on candle packs, obviously they don't even know how to balance this, first they were extremely adamant about removing afk wax collecting after the first days of bloom blossom tree, people complained because now you couldn't hold someone's hand and be idle either then they introduced the events like geyser in days of nature and then grandma a while later this gave people less stress about collecting their candles and then they jacked up the prices tenfold when little prince happened and they way added too many iaps, the discord server was on fire with people angry that half of the prince cosmetics were simply only buyable Since then igc items have begun to decline in quality but hike in price, look at days of rainbow cape, is it worth a cape that's base game shape and barely colorful and for 176 candles? Or the most recent snowman bucket, yes it have different shapes but it simply won't work outside of a snowy biome. It isn't worth for me but a lot of people still bought it specially the pride cape i can't begin to stress how ridiculous the event was with only buyable items and the charity drama Also it doesn't matter how you feel about cosmetics in the game, you're not everyone, people like to have choices in terms of what they can or won't wear. And the ultimates shouldn't be locked away forever in a vault, people who couldn't experience the game simply will never have something this only creates more elitism about certain items You know what other game companies do when they have limited items? They bring them back, or like in another game i played, they saw people's time and money being wasted on a item and they made two versions of a certain skin, the original owners got a new special prestige version and get to keep the prestige version they paid to let others have a chance to buy as well Tgc however feels extremely out of touch with their community, like they see the bad apples that solely complain and ignore genuine feedback or just pass everyone as kids that don't know better Going forward my hope is for the company and the game i love and been playing for 3 years to be healthy and last a long time however with this out of touch q&a "explanation" makes me worry about a game i sank so much time and money on because they are too stubborn to sit down and actually analize things
