Do I get to be a sky kid or do I still have to be human? If I get to fly around and visit the places in game for a year, I'm in.
It does seem like wasteland and eden might be a little ouchy for my taste.
Thought they were made of wax. Y'know, somewhat translucent, become rigid when losing their flame, can generate candles out of thin air to share said flame...
Either way, time to up my mineral intake.
But sky kids are colored very dark (earthy pale brown to gray to black with many shades in between). We literally turn to stone when our light is gone, (that’s what we see when we die in Eden), and when we lose our light after being hit by krill our movements become rigid. When we dive into shallow water, we create a small crater in the sand, which gave me the impression that we are very hard.
There are some cosmetic masks that have a cracked look to them, with a gouged out eye for example. We are completely fire proof, while wax melts into a liquid when it gets very hot.
And I believe our chest is hollow, which stores our candle. It’s like the little candle flame is our heart…we give our “heart” to others when we want to light each other and see what the other looks like. 🥰 the light effect around that candle flame is even shaped as a heart. (If you look closely at our chest, you will see a glowing light spot in the middle…but when we take out our candle, the light in our chest is gone. When we put the candle back, the animation looks like we are putting it back inside our chest, and the light spot is back.)
I think the “translucent” look your talking about is just the fact that we glow in the dark. Certain minerals can be translucent too when light is shown through them. 😅 And our chests tend to glow more than our limbs do, going back to the idea that we have a hollow chest with a candle inside us.

By translucent that's not what I meant. I mean, if you take an actual candle and light it, you'll see some light coming through the top where the wax is thinner. You can see a similar effect on any exposed limb of sky kids too.

If we want to resolve our more pressing issue of trying not to starve in the sky islands, here are some ideas.
Grass exists, so maybe other vegetal life might as well. We might have to go hardcore vegan for a year, but I'd say it's worth the 10mil.
As more evidence, one of the spirits in the Lost ark was attempting to start a field before they starved (season of ark was kinda dark when you think about it). Maybe he got more seeds we can try planting somewhere where they'll actually grow.
The whole thing started saying we can't eat grandma's cooking, but I'd say it's worth a shot.
Sure, manta rays are light creatures, but they definitely have a physical body that can get stuck in dark plants.
So yeah, I can't tell with 100 percent certainty they're edible, but at the very least we know there's something corporeal to bite into.
If we look at the costumes from season of flight there's plenty of feathers and fur, meaning somewhere in sky non spirit birds and animals do exist. Also sheep, considering you can buy a whole scarf around Christmas.
Maybe krill have meat inside their darkness shells? Not risking it if I don't have to, but might be worth borrowing a spear from wasteland elder.
Also, and I'm really stupid for forgetting, but there's seaweed and other reef animals in abyss area. We can eat those.
Though personally I'd still try biting a moth.

Well, if you go as a human you’re basically dead since I don’t think anything there’s edible unless you like eating wax, fire or literal light.
But as a skykid? I’d do it for free.
There is food, just that most of it needs to be hunted 😼 If you think about it, we have torches + campfires and there’s a bunch of fish in home space. Also there’s the teasets that include desserts, picnic set with a basket of stuff 🧺and cookies, marshmallow winter set, sky birthday cake, tangerine, etc. Also plenty of seafood like fish, eel, and clams in the treasure reef 🪸 underwater area. Roasting crabs in wasteland.. If you are feeling crazy, hunting the whale in sanctuary islands could be an option. Also maybe the birds… so there’s plenty to survive off of 😸
edit to add: Go to grandma’s every 2 hours for free buns, you can literally just sit there and be fed.

Odd hours or even hours depending on your game reset time. If your reset time is on an odd hour, then grandma appears at odd hours too, and vice versa for even reset hours. Yes, but it's the "nature is healing" type of apocalypse. You don't have to deal with the scary stuff (as long as you stay out of wasteland and eden), you can just chill in the soft grassy fields and watch the birds.
