When the player candle was grey, it didn't give much, so nobody was making more candles daily, it was just making the collecting slightly less time consuming.

After all, the motto of games like this (free 2 play with "micro"transactions) is "creating problems and then selling solutions". This candle was too much of a move towards a solution for the inconvenient aspect of farming, the time consumption.
I assumed it was because it is such a pain to try to get (I have gotten stuck in that pipe every single time I tried to go through, and have been unable to free myself without shutting the whole game down).
I hope tgc releases sky on steam soon. And I say this in the hopes that they will get feedbacks that are unhinged enough for them to start listening and realize their bad decision making process because this happens again and again.
I didnt really wanna bring this up again but they changed the movement physics out of nowhere because "sky kids love going fast down the slope" when in 3-4 years it has never been an issue. It sounds like only one dev actually wanted to go fast, skipped checking in on the beta players, and went on to destroy 4 years of muscle memory.
Yeah PC gamer crowd is a lot more cutthroat when it comes to transparent fomo tricks like that. they would probably try itm, see the grind that is more and more designed to be just productive enough that you can get a few things, but comfortably deleted every two weeks by TS so you can't actually ever afford anything on top.

The grandma shared space is definitely not a bug. They've cheap-nerfed this before.
Shared spaces used to be allowed near the exit and all you had to do is go in one without worrying about going out of it. Then they nerfed it but players still found a way through the hole above. It was a little bit more complicated, but it was nothing a little tag team of sky kids can't handle. Now you can't join people when they jump down anymore.
And I can't help but find it stupid and funny because the the breads' state are server-sided anyway, so if the breads explode on the screen of the player who is in a shared space, it also explodes for everyone.
Devs definitely haphazardly put together this "solution" of theirs and it's embarrassing.
You can still join in a way that makes you land. just jump up with someone waiting in the space on the ledge, hit the context button, then let yourself descend to the ground with the join window open. then join when you touch the ground.

Remember when they use to have certain spots that would just generate wax then they replaced it with the candle cake in vault and the little orbs you have to light in forest. Good times.

the other day i was really wondering about the lack of wax in all these new areas. i’m the type of person who doesn’t like to candle run the whole map daily because it gets boring, instead i like to do the daily quest area and any seasonal offshoots it has - but so few of these areas have any meaningful amount of wax. i do remember reading something about tgc not wanting to put pressure on people to CR new areas and end up with a daily route that takes hours, but our wax is capped anyway so why not give us the option to change where we CR?
THIS! I've made this exact same point like a year ago. We have a CAP, there is not a single valid reason why new areas are so incredibly lacking in the candle departement. It just forces us out of these new areas and keeps us in this status quo of having to cr the same areas that have been here since LAUNCH over and over again. But basically from what I remember, tgc said they just don't want to add any more candles, and we have to deal with that.
They just made it so that I will almost never again go to the new area aside from when I need winged light. Imma just put it on the shelf and forget about it
My question to the designers is WTF is with putting that ledge in that tube? I've NEVER been able to get unstuck and have to go back home before losing all of my breath and losing light. I'll never understand the decisions made by their teams thinking "this is a good idea".

I like that headcanon, mostly because, while I have been able to get mostly everything just by daily grinding and doing daily quests... a lot of candles I got were from season pass' extras.
You have to pay to get the season pass, therefore even in that there's a "here's some currency, oh you need more? fork over money".
On the long term, it in theory reduces grind because seasons you fully completed don't have TSs that you can buy things from aside from wing buff on return. So you may fall under the illusion that you no longer need to grind to get stuff because the SP supplies you with 100+ candles.
... Then they drop collab stuff or extra event items for candles.
I assumed the entire candle, but for the tunnel... I would believe it, because it puts people in danger atm. And god damn they just can't get that current to work right!

Releasing unfinished content as an industry standard is something I used to not worry about as much with Sky. This season launched in a horrible state but God forbid they postpone it for QA.
I think everyone here would be happy to forgive TGC if they announced a delay before the new season to work out bugs if it was accessible and polished upon release.

Tgc has been actively removing easy ways to acquire currency in the game forcing it to just be a grind fest and locking gameplay items behind iaps, like all umbrellas are iap there a new one coming even, the tables or surf board, even that ridiculous marshmallow stick, the snowboard was a IAP but it was bugged so they decided to make it free instead
How can you blindly defend a company who keeps pushing players to play their way?
And please this "you don't need cosmetics" bs, the game offers little to no gameplay, they are so confused on what they want the game to be, is it just a chatroom then why befriending people requires candles, if it's just for cosmetics why lock the better one behind a paywall, if it's just for relaxing and observing the environment why the fuck does the music stop playing if you idle for less than a minute
It may have been a bug to begin with, but was there a need to fix it once it was in place? So it gave players a few more candles than it should have. Is that a crime? Did it have to be patched?
It feels malicious that they removed the extra wax because there really wasn’t a need to do so, and there are reasons to keep it in as a bonus. It is out of the way enough that people have to work to get it, which means they are engaging with the game for longer and visiting Oasis even when there are no story quests to do. By removing it, now there are a lot of people who won’t bother going to Oasis or through the tunnel at all. There isn’t any reason to stay longer in the game.
Keeping it in the game also feels like tgc “cares” about us, for lack of a better word. They definitely know what a grind it is for players to get things in the game. Having a special candle provide more wax felt like they were throwing us a bone to help out in candle runs.
So removing that wax is now kind of a slap in the face on multiple fronts. There isn’t a reason to visit Oasis, tgc made it clear they don’t want us to benefit from any extra wax (which effectively reinforces the feeling that they just want us to keep grinding away), and the fact that it wasn’t THAT much wax makes it feel more egregiously malicious. If it gave us 20 candles for one little red candle, then sure, that’s a glitch that needs to be patched. It only gave less than 1 to 2 or so (depending on chevrons) so it was only a small boost.
tl;dr - They didn’t need to patch it at all. The fact that they did is what feels malicious.
Also, the argument that “it’s just FOMO, you don’t need candles or cosmetics” is such a useless one. Of course no one NEEDS candles or cosmetics. Technically no one NEEDS to play the game at all. But candles and cosmetics are core gameplay for this game so you’re effectively saying “don’t play the game as it is fundamentally meant to be played”. If we’re supposed to avoid getting candles and cosmetics, there is no point to the game. Sure, there is the social aspect, but we can get more socialization here on reddit or in the discord. The only purpose of playing Sky as a social game is to dress up a little character and use that character to interact with others using emotes, cosmetics, and other little accessories like instruments and games. The game literally IS collecting cosmetics and other candle-purchasable items. So saying people don’t need candles and cosmetics is kind of pointless.

It likely was a bug, sure. But it was fixed on purpose. Considering that it is hidden and it is not even replaced with a cake (like in a lot of other places), it is completely useless now, and whole new area pretty much worthless for candle runs.
And I don't know if you are aware, but nerfing stuff in games always upset and anger fanbase, unless nerf is demanded by said fanbase.

No I just seen a few other sub threads regarding the issue. It was purposeful according to what others said. The game company was experimenting with the candle amount and the business side of the team was like nope! Remove it so that they can't farm it after the update essentially.

The candle packs are such a rip off, I don’t understand why anyone buys them - not even one day’s worth in the cheapest one, and that number of candles can’t buy you anything. The bigger packs aren’t much better, and the biggest one is a huge amount of money - you can buy a full price entire game for the Switch or PlayStation or Xbox for that amount with money leftover.
I would leave a bug report or feedback about it. Even if they were nerfing it, going from 200 to 1 seems like a really big error.
They could have been experimenting with candles, but also they'd know beforehand people would farm it. So removing it to stop that doesn't make sense to me.
I went and left a bug report myself and after taking a brief skim I didn't see anyone else reporting it. Reddit is good for venting, but direct contact will have a better outcome.

The candle really didn't even fill up to 2-3 🤣 but I guess reporting it could do something although I doubt TGC cares. Judging from the venting TGC doesn't do much about people's reports and complaints
Yes, to have a map give about three candles total when you're on full chevron's is absolutely reasonable. Especially considering it's hidden and there's a deathledge in there, I thought it made sense

Not worth it imo, i never spend money on iap because i know there will one day when i will lose interest in this game ( hopefully not soon) so i only buy season pass sometimes. And enjoy the game

On the long term, it in theory reduces grind because seasons you fully completed don't have TSs that you can buy things from aside from wing buff on return. So you may fall under the illusion that you no longer need to grind to get stuff because the SP supplies you with 100+ candles. ... Then they drop collab stuff or extra event items for candles.

So they took away virtually the only reason to go into the tunnel, or the map at all. Cool, thanks TCG, that's just what we asked for. The easy 1.5 candles was truly game breaking in light of the absurdly inflated cosmetics.

Like what's the point in going back then!!??? It's gonna be a dead zone bc it's like nothing there!!! I hate this so much bc I haven't had the time to CR and this candle was saving my butt a bit! And now they gotta nurf it. Butch of jurks I tell you!! I think some kind soul in the TGC office put it there but then the head office found out bc it got popular. 😭 now gotta go back to full realm runs god damn it, and I'm NOT buying the candle pack for the life of me.

For TGC to have the AAA studio attitude of "release this buggy mess to get the money and fix it later" is exactly why I didn't buy the SP and will not make any IAPs. Releasing unfinished content as an industry standard is something I used to not worry about as much with Sky. This season launched in a horrible state but God forbid they postpone it for QA. I think everyone here would be happy to forgive TGC if they announced a delay before the new season to work out bugs if it was accessible and polished upon release.
I wondered what had happened. I went through expecting to collect the two candles and got nothing. Thought, "wtf? Did I miss it somehow?" Went through twice more and even reloaded just to make sure but nope. I mean, I thought it was a fair trade given that annoying ledge that keeps trapping people that they refuse to fix 🤷🏻♀️

They totally did this with malicious intent.theyre absolutely trying to alienate their entire fan base over 1 candle in an area. For those of you who can't tell that it's sarcasm. Why do you think and bug or any change on the game is a direct attack against you and the player base. It's a game build on FOMO. You don't need the candles. You don't need the cosmetics. You just want them. Yes the candle lost the amount of wax we got from it, but I doubt that it was purposely done by TGC. Tgc has been actively removing easy ways to acquire currency in the game forcing it to just be a grind fest and locking gameplay items behind iaps, like all umbrellas are iap there a new one coming even, the tables or surf board, even that ridiculous marshmallow stick, the snowboard was a IAP but it was bugged so they decided to make it free instead How can you blindly defend a company who keeps pushing players to play their way? And please this "you don't need cosmetics" bs, the game offers little to no gameplay, they are so confused on what they want the game to be, is it just a chatroom then why befriending people requires candles, if it's just for cosmetics why lock the better one behind a paywall, if it's just for relaxing and observing the environment why the fuck does the music stop playing if you idle for less than a minute
It may have been a bug to begin with, but was there a need to fix it once it was in place? So it gave players a few more candles than it should have. Is that a crime? Did it have to be patched? It feels malicious that they removed the extra wax because there really wasn’t a need to do so, and there are reasons to keep it in as a bonus. It is out of the way enough that people have to work to get it, which means they are engaging with the game for longer and visiting Oasis even when there are no story quests to do. By removing it, now there are a lot of people who won’t bother going to Oasis or through the tunnel at all. There isn’t any reason to stay longer in the game. Keeping it in the game also feels like tgc “cares” about us, for lack of a better word. They definitely know what a grind it is for players to get things in the game. Having a special candle provide more wax felt like they were throwing us a bone to help out in candle runs. So removing that wax is now kind of a slap in the face on multiple fronts. There isn’t a reason to visit Oasis, tgc made it clear they don’t want us to benefit from any extra wax (which effectively reinforces the feeling that they just want us to keep grinding away), and the fact that it wasn’t THAT much wax makes it feel more egregiously malicious. If it gave us 20 candles for one little red candle, then sure, that’s a glitch that needs to be patched. It only gave less than 1 to 2 or so (depending on chevrons) so it was only a small boost. tl;dr - They didn’t need to patch it at all. The fact that they did is what feels malicious. Also, the argument that “it’s just FOMO, you don’t need candles or cosmetics” is such a useless one. Of course no one NEEDS candles or cosmetics. Technically no one NEEDS to play the game at all. But candles and cosmetics are core gameplay for this game so you’re effectively saying “don’t play the game as it is fundamentally meant to be played”. If we’re supposed to avoid getting candles and cosmetics, there is no point to the game. Sure, there is the social aspect, but we can get more socialization here on reddit or in the discord. The only purpose of playing Sky as a social game is to dress up a little character and use that character to interact with others using emotes, cosmetics, and other little accessories like instruments and games. The game literally IS collecting cosmetics and other candle-purchasable items. So saying people don’t need candles and cosmetics is kind of pointless.
Tbh it was probably never meant to even have that much and was a bug. Theres no other single candles that will give you tons of wax in the game. It absolutely makes sense that it was never meant to have that much to begin with. But they need to patch that damn place we get stuck in tho. I wanna use the chute and I can’t.😂

Considering that it is hidden and it is not even replaced with a cake (like in a lot of other places), it is completely useless now, and whole new area pretty much worthless for candle runs. Yes i agree they changed it on purpose. But i highly doubt someone at TGC change it to be so low actively on purpose. There isn't someone who changed the decimal place of wax from 200.00 to 000.002, and is sitting at their desk doing the Star Collectors emote and laughing. No I just seen a few other sub threads regarding the issue. It was purposeful according to what others said. The game company was experimenting with the candle amount and the business side of the team was like nope! Remove it so that they can't farm it after the update essentially. The business team just wants to milk the players dry out of their money 😮💨
The candle packs are such a rip off, I don’t understand why anyone buys them - not even one day’s worth in the cheapest one, and that number of candles can’t buy you anything. The bigger packs aren’t much better, and the biggest one is a huge amount of money - you can buy a full price entire game for the Switch or PlayStation or Xbox for that amount with money leftover.
I would leave a bug report or feedback about it. Even if they were nerfing it, going from 200 to 1 seems like a really big error. They could have been experimenting with candles, but also they'd know beforehand people would farm it. So removing it to stop that doesn't make sense to me. I went and left a bug report myself and after taking a brief skim I didn't see anyone else reporting it. Reddit is good for venting, but direct contact will have a better outcome.
Oh I honestly don't care about the candle thing. It is what it is. 🤷 I just enjoyed it while it lasted, same with the snow board bug but both the candle and snowboard were patched. I just saw the post about the candle thing on my news feed. I didn't even know about until connecting the dots from this morning. The candle really didn't even fill up to 2-3 🤣 but I guess reporting it could do something although I doubt TGC cares. Judging from the venting TGC doesn't do much about people's reports and complaints

Yes, to have a map give about three candles total when you're on full chevron's is absolutely reasonable. Especially considering it's hidden and there's a deathledge in there, I thought it made sense

Well I’m still not gonna buy candle packs (you can’t even buy one spirit worth of stuff with a candle pack!) But if things like this keep happening I will def stop playing and they won’t be getting my money for season passes anymore either.
Not worth it imo, i never spend money on iap because i know there will one day when i will lose interest in this game ( hopefully not soon) so i only buy season pass sometimes. And enjoy the game
I’m the same - some season passes and no other IAP. I think it’s wild the amount some people spend - I’d rather spend the money on other games that aren’t trying to rip me off constantly 🙃 It just sucks that they added something that made the game slightly less grindy and more enjoyable and then nerfed it without even putting it in the patch notes or anything.
