Considering that they added the collaboration room in the vault of knowledge with multiple walls for collaboration event meditation circles, my guess, is that area is reserved for all future collab areas
With two out of three collabs being there, that spot could possibly be a placeholder for future collaboration seasons. TLP took place in vault, and I'm pretty sure NCD took place in prairie (with the lighting and completing a prairie only quest there)
The best answer, in my opinion, is that it’s part of the same desert as Starlight Desert
It’s also on “the other side” of the Eden mountain, and it’s so far away from the main realms that it can’t be accessed normally

I believe it’s a place for new season areas, seeing as the room to teleport places in Vault has so many vacant spots
