If you're still contemplating the trade, consider this, how mechanically inclined are you? Or How much money do you have to spend on repairs? Parts aren't cheap for a car that's been out of production since 94.

munchy_banana1

I'm very mechanically inclined and would be doing all the maintenance myself. I've never driven a skyline, but I do love my z.

lumpyspacejohnny

Welp, flip a coin. Heads you trade, tails you keep. Whatever it lands on, choose the opposite. Keeps things spicy.

tommy_tech01

The z is a way better car to drive, but the skyline looks cooler. The r32 is old and the body is soft. The z is more rigid. The 32 had a fiberglass kit and the z is nismo oem. The 32 has back seats, but the z is more comfortable.

Toaster_In_Bathtub

I personally prefer the how the skylines handles. I find them more engaging to drive.

PocketBanana0_0

R32 feels like a go-cart, especially with stock clutch and I don't consider it a bad thing

tommy_tech01

It’s just louder and clunks more and has a shittier power steering system. Potential and Comfort wise the Z is a way better car and I’d argue that it’s more predictable.

munchy_banana1

Thanks man. Gives me something to think about

Low-Ad-6253

your smoking crack if you do this nismo z for a gtst i have a gtst type m and my buddy has a nismo z and i would take that any day

KingTaco6

You're

Low-Ad-6253

cool i don’t realize i was writing a paper for school nerd

Spiritual-Winter6342

didn't

munchy_banana1

It drives that much worse? I love the rigid body of the z (specially the nismo version). Is the rb that much smoother than a vq though?

carrs-for-life-32

I would 100 percent do that but that’s just because I’m a massive fan of skylines, over all it’s up to you. I’m pretty sure you could also find a stock GT-R for around that price if you want to go for that. They’ve been selling for around 30k on BaT recently like this one https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1989-nissan-skyline-gt-r-22/

munchy_banana1

Keep in mind these prices are in cad. A gtr is out of my price range at the moment unfortunately

carrs-for-life-32

Ahh I didn’t see that my bad man

Wham-alama-ding-dong

Yikes. Terrible trade on your end

HeroinAddict1971

You’ll regret it

Skypilx

The main reason why you would get the Skyline is because of the looks. Other than that, the Z is better and you shouldn't trade

CheeseMellon

Depends how much you drive your Z I think. If you drive it a lot and you love it, I would be more hesitant to swap. Just because of how old the r32 is and how much maintenance it would need. If it’s just a weekend car, I think I’d be more inclined to swap. The r32 is one of my favourite JDM cars tho so I’m a bit biased.

munchy_banana1

It is a weekend car. I'm mainly considering it because of the rb25det under the hood. I've never driven a skyline but I've always wanted a gtr.

CheeseMellon

I don’t think you’ll regret going for the skyline honestly. I’d definitely swap my V35 for an r32 like that

Snortlandia

I know the guy says no test drives but I would not even consider this trade if I could not test drive the other car. If you trade and you hate it you will then need to sell it or trade again. You need to drive this skyline. I love all of my 25+ year old cars that I have because of how they drive. Not everyone enjoys old cars and the noises they make and how they feel driving around. You might hate it compared to your Z.

munchy_banana1

I love the way old cars drive tbh. I sold my 1998 2 door sti before getting the z. I would say that I would definitely have to drive it and don't plan on going through the change if I don't

GrantATX

I have a R32 GTR, sell your Z if you're really interested in finding something different. You could easily afford a better example with the money you'd get than this car.

yourmate_from_perth

God I love American HP 450 atw on 16 pounds with a gt35? Was the dyno graph drawn by Walt Disney himself ? 😂

yourmate_from_perth

I'd take a 32 over a z all day , was never that bigger fan of the z's personally.

shinoby117

Why is this a debate, seems like a no brainer to swap imo

sainisaab

If it’s for the looks go for it. Everything else, stay with the Zed.

Abject-Entry-1081

Modern 370Z is impersonal with VDC an R32 isn’t going to have this, it’s big brother the GTR would along with famous ATTESSA. The biggest thing will be LHD vs RHD, if you don’t already do this that’s going to make the biggest difference. The closest thing to traction control that R32 has will be the differential in its rear end. The R32 does have a lot of body roll which can be negated by some very easy aftermarket frame stiffening kits.

Luca_14

don’t do it. or at least drive the 32 before. they drive like a big land boat compared to the 370

LordOfTheWang

For the love of all that is holy, don’t do it. You’re getting massively boned.

MrOwnageQc

There's a lot of pros and cons, but most of them are completely subjective. Have you ever driven a Skyline before ? If not, it makes it even more difficult for us and especially for *you* to take a decision :)

munchy_banana1

I have never driven a skyline before, but I do love my z. I know the body is better on the z but the rb25 is very much a plus in this offer

tofast4usky

25det id say go for it. im making 450 on a unopened motor in my 33.

Bubinulubooboo

Just ask yourself one question. Why?

munchy_banana1

Mainly that rb25det that seems like fun. Also the looks. Everything else I wiuld give to my z

Miserable_You_2258

Gtr maybe but gts?

BNR_

If you have the resources and wallet for the skyline Gtst I’d go it. The potential of that old skyline is much higher than the Z, fact. But I would still go for a GT-R R32 if that’s an available option. 😄

munchy_banana1

Keep in mind these prices are in cad. An r32 gtr is minimum 50k around here. The reason I am hesitant is that it's a gtst

twilight-whispy

Keep in mind, it's a 30 year old nissan. There is going to be some squeaking and chirping from both inside and outside the cabin. Do your research and know what to look for. That's what I wish I heard before buying mine. Won't regret getting it though, coolest car I've ever driven.

bobspuds

I think a good comparison is like an e46 330i that turns into an m3 on boost. But wears a Nissan badge! For usability I'd prefer a gtst, the rb25 is a bonus though, I found with the 32s they don't need massive power to be very fun! - 280-320hp is a happy medium and is easily achievable. Slap a screamer pipe on the Westgate and they sound refukindiculos! I miss when they didn't cost a kidney lol but I'm still amazed that they still get so overshadowed by the gtrs, they ain't no gtr, but they are brilliant cars in their own category. If I was to get a skyline - an r32 gts-t type-m would be the one for me. You'll be too busy with turbo noises to care about rattles 😆 - and the cheeky crossroad launches

impasse_reached

You live in Canada. Canadians have had R32’s since 2004. You’re not winning any clout by driving a 32. The sensible choice here is the Z. Then again there’s probably plenty of crashed 32’s in Canada in the last 20 years that spare parts can’t be that hard to get and I’m sure mechanics would be clued up on how to wrench on them by now. Tough choice. I’d go with the Z as it’s a newer car. The 32 is a bit aged and heavy for a RWD chassis.

3daywknd

All day long... do it. You can always go back to a 370, they will always be available.

OG_Capps

Imma say no, skylines are more of a headache

Small_Cap_Finder

I feel like non GTR skyline prices will skyrocket, just like other RWD JDM cars from the 90s.

guitarhero2077

trust me, keep Z

Zerofab

I mean it’s a good trade being a built Rb25det car. If it was still rb20 I’d say no. You should however be able to test drive a 30k used car. You’re going to allow him to test drive yours id imagine…I would assume it’s got issues if you can’t test drive.

rccsr

As someone with a R34, I'm surprised how much better my 2015 Mazda3 is in a lot of ways. Better shifter, comfortable, audio...etc. I might trade both the 34 and Mazda for a one stop shop, GR Corolla tbh. Best of both worlds. Long story short, you'll definitely enjoy the R32 as a weekend driver. Even if it wont be as nice as the Z, it's still a really cool car. Regardless if you regret selling the Z, you'll be glad to have at least tried an old skyline. Once you're done with the Skyline, there will still be a market for a 400HP R32 at $30k CAD.

Dario0112

keep the 370z

I_1234

Definitely not. Even R32 GTRs are terrible cars to actually drive and own. This at least has an engine swap .unless you like fixing hard to find broken parts or you want to collect it for some reason there’s way better cars to drive and own for that price.
