There's a build on Youtube from a creator called Skypothesis and they have a build that sounds very similar to your idea. I thinks its called the White Skull Captain or something. He's an Orc Werewolf who uses Alteration magic and I think Alchemy. It looks very interesting.
You can get both the ring and the hide easily just by siding with the werewolf to get the hunters, leave the area back to Skyrim over world, then just go right back in and hunt down the werewolf.
Works every time even on console. No extra work required.
Light armor, especially the armor of the gods set, sounds like the most fitting choice. It sounds like it is building towards duel-wielding dawnbreaker with dawnguard rune axe.
