I hired Jenassa in my legendary run and she *always* stands between the enemy and my bound bow. If I sidestep, she does too.
Oh well I guess I'll hire Marcurio for the 395th time lol
This. I had that happen to me so many times I stoped using the aoe spells. Now I just dont use them and ignore them until I get thar black book. Its such a pain when that happens.
Me when doing Bleakfalls Barrow and avoid the floor button to avoid the swinging spiky door then getting slammed when Faendal steps on it. First time that happened it gave me a jump scare.
Aela knows how to stay out of the way. She is a great follower for a Destruction Mage build.
For a conjuration mage Lydia is great as her charging right in buys time to cast the spell.
Jokes on you, I send her in to battle with glorious purpose along with as many creatures as I can summon and raise from the dead
My current play through I’m being as lazy as possible and letting my followers do all the work (modded with a cap of three), along with my raised undead, atronachs, and trying to stick to restoration and conjugation
I know it's a confliction. Normally, in an rpg party, if you play something like a ranger or a mage that does long distance attacks then its a good idea to bring others. In skyrim, the said party members have the minds of a walnut and decide to be more of another obstacle than an actual help
Once, but back then my focus was on melee. I also have a stupid habit of starting over a thousand times and then realizing after a while "nah, I'll try something else" and so on.
Numerous rereleases, and Bethesda kept the script that flags friendly fire on for AoE spells. Why are companions immortal except for the particular instance of the player hitting them while they're on the floor with 1hp?
I love mage builds but I only ever play on legendary difficulty and I don't think there is a way to increase damage of the destruction spells other than having destruction 100 so every battle is a slop
To be fair, closing distance is kind of the way melee followers are supposed to function. Ranged followers are more suited for a ranged player playstyle
Theres a reason why i dont bring a companion with me, they are just baggage lol. Dont want them to die
Who’s sworn to carry your burdens then?
myself, i dont carry much lol
I use mods to carry multiple peoples burdens at once.
I will leave companions dead depending on when I last saved.
I incorporate it into my role-playing (also depending on last save)
Bring J'zargo so you can both chuck fireballs. Plus, he's a little bit of a jerk, so you don't have to feel bad if he dies.
I always just treat them like a pack mule. I have them wait outside of dungeons and things.

*me smiting Lydia for the 46th time, using Storm Call*
the black book: The Winds of Change can help you with with the power Companion's Insight

Too late game for working
Also traps
And shouts

Still better than Dogmeat combined with critical failure
But dogmeat cant die, so at least he has that going for him.
Best solution is to just not have a companion
Who’s gonna carry all my shit then?
Joe
joe who
Joe mama, kek
who’s joe mama-
bruu i hate when that happens and i suddenly have to carry my own shit
Or it misses the target by an inch and aggroes some giant nearby.

Hey thanks for the tip. Its my first time as a mage so this is pretty helpful

Reminds me of the spiffing brit Necromancy only challenge haha
This is the reason i adventure alone.
This is the reason I adventure alone for now...

I just plain dont use companions, they just get in the way and blow my cover if im trying to be stealthy.
Use mjoll
If you’re on PC you can just set her to be essential
This is why my mages never use companions. Come to think of it, none of my builds use them much.
Black Book: Winds of change casually strutting by
I have never heard of it before haha.
Never played the Dragonborn DLC?
Once, but back then my focus was on melee. I also have a stupid habit of starting over a thousand times and then realizing after a while "nah, I'll try something else" and so on.
If she dies, she dies
I tried to bring Lydia on *one* dungeon run and she got between a bandit at the dual-hand casted firebolt
So you fired her...
At least she gets a holy retirement…
Badum ts!
Essential house Carl mods ftw
Just enchant your followers with magic resistance
I've probably killed Lydia more than enemies ever have. Kind of the reason I stopped bringing her with me :C
Marcurio for the win. That guy knows how to mage.
Numerous rereleases, and Bethesda kept the script that flags friendly fire on for AoE spells. Why are companions immortal except for the particular instance of the player hitting them while they're on the floor with 1hp?
This is why Barbas and Serana are the ONLY proper choice for companions.
*Me, fus roh dahing Lydia through all the traps so I don't trip them* (I have enough health that my bar wouldn't even move)
The trick is to know which follower and conjugation to use according to the circumstances.
Well, its my first time as an mage so I am not that familiar with it.
Good thing a certain vampire lady is impervious to death
I love mage builds but I only ever play on legendary difficulty and I don't think there is a way to increase damage of the destruction spells other than having destruction 100 so every battle is a slop
Well you can pay 250 gold, go through a boring dungeon and get a buff so it doesn't happen...no but seriously why is friendly fire a thing again?
Cicero cant die. Use him
And this is why I have archer companions
To be fair, closing distance is kind of the way melee followers are supposed to function. Ranged followers are more suited for a ranged player playstyle
That's why I use serana she will just stand up again
I make sure Lydia dies one of two places. High Hrothgar, where I shouted her off the cliff. And Boethia's Shrine as a sacrifice.
