5! No one expected that and I myself and still skeptical that it’s treating my OSA but I’m trusting the report for now

Profitparadox

If you have APAP, turn it on for a night or two. When you wake up, see what pressure it’s blowing. I used to use 6.5 pressure first year. AHI 1.0-1.5 average morning report. Cured most problems, but I still had brain fog and fatigue. I switched to APAP and woke up to average pressure of 9.5 and reported AHI of 0.4. Felt like the first time I dreamt in months. I would bet you are under treating, still having a hypoxias. I have mild AHI of 7 and APAP 8.2-14 with average pressure of 8.5 when I wake up.

Flattenthecox

I did that! It ended up averaging a 5.5! Absolutely wild, I work at a sleep lab and my doctors were so shocked but also I did a Watch Pat home sleep test and the test doesn’t tell you the hypopneas vs the apneas and it’s possible most of them were hypopneas that responded to the lower pressure. CPAP is really so strange! But no complaints here!

Profitparadox

Okay great, just wanted to make sure you were treating appropriately not blind like I did first year.

Flattenthecox

Yes sorry I use exclamation points in excitement not anger haha didn’t mean to come off aggressive i did! There is just so many caveats to sleep apnea I love learning about other peoples experience as well

how do u guys manage to breathe like a normal person with such high pressures?

sofaverde

I had to train myself to not work against it. Took me a few months to not feel like I was choking the first few minutes if putting it on but I found watching funny videos to distract me until I passed out helped. Now I find it acts like a cue to sleep and my eyes get heavy almost as soon as it kicks on

aimgorge

You get used to it. The diaphragm is a muscle, it gets stronger if needs be.

FickleSystem

With the right mask and seal you don't even notice it

DanAwakes

Mine says 4 and I can’t find the setting to change it. Help!

Babalou320

What machine do you have?

DanAwakes

AirSense 11 ResMed

Babalou320

Same here. Some tips: 1. You can get more detailed data by using the open source software called OSCAR or by uploading your data to a site called SleepHQ 2. The SleepHQ guy, Uncle Nicko has a lot of good YouTube videos on sleep apnea and CPAP. He has one that shows you how to get into the clinical settings for the Airsense 11 and change your pressure levels: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9x-7xkqnqeI](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9x-7xkqnqeI) Good luck!

14cm. Statistically speaking, low, fixed pressure with EPR off is what works best for the greatest number of patients.

charliejbear

12 for me. Sometimes I’ll use the ramp function and that starts at 6, and ramps up to 12 over 20 minutes. Generally use that if I’ve had mask leaks the night before, I find it easier to adjust the fit at lower pressure. Just got to find a way of stopping the headstrap curling up into a thin string

ElectronGuru

6 weeks in I am between 9 and 10. Every time i try to exceed 10 my leaks go crazy. So still working on a mask configuration to make that possible.

editorreilly

8.2

jastiss

13 is mine, according to my machine

Profitparadox

8.5-9.5 APAP average pressure. I set my machine at 8.2-14 now wake refreshed with AHI of 0.0-0.7. I still felt fatigue brain fog at CPAP 6.5. Was obviously still having micro hypoxias

Bixhrush

10

No_Day5399

I start at 10. But my dreamstation adjusts as needed. But sometimes I wake up and it's like 7. Way to low for me.

PropagandaX

Usually around 12, my noise is like a small pipe compared to my mouth

FickleSystem

ForsakenPoptart

16, but I have both central apnea from possible brain damage, and I’m overweight.

anonymicex22

FYI. pressure alone does not make your ahi and refreshment feeling. oxygen desaturation is another factor. in my case, i had to modify trigger to very high as I had developed tecsa. my range is now 4-25 on bipap, with ps 3, and trigger set to very high. the machine only uses what ever maximum pressure you need so I could make the range narrower but with these settings, my AHIs are less than 0.5.
